Marvel: Starting From The Bottom

Chapter 115 - The Brotherhood

I had the Soul Stone inside my spatial storage and if I wanted to use the stone, I had to bring it out— which was the reason I had Eitri make the holder. In a month, I shall have the holder and when I have it… I will be prepared to fight Kang.

I landed in NYC when I received a call from Magnus. I was supposed to look for Morgan but had to delay the plans.

"Did you leave a rogue mutant group in your area, dad?"

Magnus' question confused me. I knew he was most likely talking about the Brotherhood, but what's with the sudden interest?

"Yes, I did."

He sighed from the other side. "Then you should take a look at the news… or check what's going on with your eyes."

"Alright."

Hanging up, I surfed through the internet and proceeded to check the news. And what I found wasn't a big surprise.

The Brotherhood and X-Men were fighting and it seemed like the X-Men was in trouble.

I can either let them handle it on their own or help them. And I am the one responsible for this as I decided to keep the Brotherhood alive, so I guess I will see what's up.

I teleported to Xavier's mansion and found the bald mutant professor staring at a screen intently.

"I heard there was trouble, professor."

The man looked at me in surprise.

"Oh, Markus." He looked worried. "What brings you here?"

"The Brotherhood's little show is being aired on live television, professor. So, I believe you know why I am here."

He took a deep breath. "The X-Men are handling the issue. Give me some time, and I will make sure that this doesn't happen again."

Xavier was really bad at being convincing. Unless you were a desperate mutant, you wouldn't fall for his tricks easily.

"I had warned you before that if Magneto makes trouble again, I would have to take care of him."

He flinched.

"But since the X-Men is facing the Brotherhood, I will wait for the outcome." I walked towards him. "If you fail this time, I will take matters into my own hands."

I took a seat next to him as we both stared at the screen.

One of the reasons I let the Brotherhood do as they please was because I wanted to see why Xavier was so adamant about his beliefs.

I wanted to see why he thought that a group of deranged supremacists would ever agree to him.

And to this day, I have never been able to find the answer. It makes me believe that Xavier is just another hopeful fool that got his hands on a strong mutant ability by luck.

"It's not looking too good for your students."

The X-Men were getting decimated by the Brotherhood.

Magneto took on James and Storm— whom I have yet to say hello to.

And it went without saying that the X-Men were taking a beating.

Other than James, who trained under the Order and Storm who was an Omega level mutant with a terrifying mutant ability, the rest of the X-Men were losing.

Magneto was able to keep the fight against the two strong mutants going without much effort and it was only a matter of time before the rest of the Brotherhood came to his aid.

"They will win." Xavier said boldly. "They have to win."

"We will see."

.

.

.

With most of the X-Men left unable to fight, James and Storm had to fight the entire Brotherhood on their own. And while I knew James was strong, he was not capable of facing an Omega level mutant.

Thankfully, anti-metal was different from normal metal and that saved him from being affected by Magneto's magnetic control.

Xavier was worried, I could see it. But I calmly sat there, waiting for at least one more X-Men to fall.

I had something interesting planned and one of the Order's members was going to profit from it.

We both stared at the screen as Storm took a direct hit from the Juggernaut and was knocked out instantly by the behemoth.

"Well then, that's it. I will be handling this issue myself."

Xavier frowned but nodded. He knew that he couldn't persuade me and so the only thing he said was— "Please make sure that the kids return home safely."

I didn't answer and teleported to the fighting scene.

James was troubled. He knew that he had no hope of defeating the Brotherhood. But he had to make sure that the kids were able to escape safely. However, that seemed impossible with Juggernaut and Magneto surrounding him.

"Give up, James." Magneto said. "There is no point in fighting a losing game."

James growled at the man which made the behemoth standing next to him laugh.

"Little wolfy wants to bite."

James thought of a way to escape with the kids but couldn't find a single one. His only hope was that Chuck could pull something and save them.

But Xavier was not the one that arrived to help him.

"That was a disappointing sight."

James snapped his neck towards the source of the voice and as his eyes fell on the person, he was surprised.

He was both relieved and worried about the boy's presence.

On one hand, he knew that the boy could save all of them but on the other, he knew how the battle was going to end. It was not going to be pretty for the Brotherhood and Xavier was not going to like what was about to come to his friend.

"But well, at least you did a good job protecting the kids."

Markus looked at the members of the Brotherhood and scratched his head.

"Magneto, Mystique, Juggernaut, Toad, Avalanche… I don't see the speedster but that's alright."

Magneto frowned as he looked at the floating figure.

"Who are you? One of Xavier's recruits?"

Markus shook his head at his question.

"No, just an acquaintance."

This made the Juggernaut chuckle. "I would advise you to leave bird boy. Or you will end up like those kiddies."

Markus calmly looked at the red monstrosity.

"Don't worry about it, big man. I can take care of myself."

As Magneto realised that the boy was not going to back off, he decided to levitate to get on the boy's equal footing.

"Leave or fall, boy."

Markus sighed. "I believe you don't understand the situation that you are in." He smiled and pointed at the reporters scooping pictures of them while the stealthy ones were recording the entire thing. "Imagine if I managed to take down your entire crew on my own."

Markus knew that Magneto left the reporters unharmed as he wanted the public to see how hopeless the situation was for the X-Men.

But that wasn't going to end well for the master of magnetism.

Magneto frowned and signalled Juggernaut to take Markus down.

The Juggernaut grinned and cannonballed towards him but surprisingly, Markus dodged the mutate with ease.

Juggernaut frowned and jumped at him once again, but this time— it was a mistake.

Magneto and the crew had their eyes wide open as they saw Markus grabbing the Juggernaut by his helmet and staring down at them.

'How…' Mystique frowned as she saw Markus crushing Juggernaut's face without effort.

The armoured mutate cried in pain but that's all he could do as Markus shattered his helmet.

Markus' eyes glowed purple for a second and the next moment— Juggernaut was on the ground, unconscious.

The reporters were shocked to the core at the sight of a single mutant, demolishing the Juggernaut with almost no effort.

Avalanche and Toad tried to help their teammate, but Markus had used his telepathy to make them lose consciousness as well.

He then looked at Mystique and smiled. "You are important, Raven. I will talk with you later… personally."

Saying that, he had used his telepathy on her as well.

As Magneto saw his members fall one by one, he felt himself fuming.

"You moron! You have no idea what you have done."

Magneto didn't wait and using his immense magnetic control, he lifted a crane and threw it towards Markus.

James looked in horror but froze when he saw Markus vaporising the crane with his claws.

"Make sure that the kids are alright, James. I will deal with Magento." Saying that, Markus teleported away with the master of magnetism— leaving behind a confused James to help the kids.

But James didn't know that Markus had taken Magneto to Xavier.

Where he had plans for the leader of the Brotherhood.
