Lucky Star

Chapter 46 - RAIN...

"But that is not what I am asking you about. I am asking you for the real reason." Lu Bai continued calmly, after settling down his emotions.

"It is what it is, nothing more nothing less." De Xi answered back calmly.

"I'm no more the same fool. Yet, I need to accept it, the play was so perfect that even I for once believed that I might have betrayed you under the alcohol's influence." Lu Bai said with a bitter chuckle.

"It was necessary or else the elders won't buy it." De Xi said calmly, there was still not the slightest change in her expression from start to end as if she was not talking about the most painful memory of her life.

"Heartless as always, aren't we?" Lu Bai said bitterly his teeth tightly clenched in anger.

"It is nothing new, is it?" De Xi asked nonchalantly.

The next second, her chin was deftly pulled towards his direction and his thin kissable lips tightly pressed on hers.

"Wha-mmfff..."

De Xi's protest was muffled as Lu Bai used this chance to slip his tongue into her mouth, savoring every part of her mouth, indulging himself in her flavor mixed with a slight hint of hot chocolate.

After struggling for a moment, De Xi gave in but she did not respond back.

Lu Bai parted from her lips after having his full, a small playful smirk painted on his slightly moist lips, anger still visible in his eyes.

"What do you think you were doing?" De Xi hissed angrily, gritting her teeth and wiping her lips.

"Wasn't it obvious?" Lu Bai asked with a playful smile, which seemed more like a victory smile now.

De Xi glared at him and stood up to leave the place for good because no longer and she knew her peace of mind was gone.

"When will you tell me the complete truth? Don't you think I deserve it after the suffering I went through?" Lu Bai asked calmly, his eyes, serene and indulging as he looked at De Xi.

"Do you really deserve it?" De Xi asked mockingly, her eyes cold and indifferent.

"Don't I? Looks like you are going to make me suffer even more before you finally give in." Lu Bai asked in an equally cold tone but his eyes held hurt in them.

De Xi looked at him, all the anger bubbling inside her, suddenly seemed meaningless, in fact for some odd reason she actually pitied him and sympathized with him.

She simply walked out of the garden, not wanting to let her emotions get the best of her and say something she would regret later.

He never once blamed De Xi for her harsh decisions but just blamed himself for forcing her to take such decisions.

He knew he was just a naive businessman who knew nothing but business back then, who was just a child in the cruel underworld and was undeserving of a crown princess, like De Xi.

Yet his heart wished to make De Xi his, which he did but nothing came easy, even then and now.

He regrets what he did back then every day and every night, every time he sees his family and son being careful around him to make sure they touch his sore spot, he regrets his stupid decisions.

Meanwhile, De Xi came back to the living room to find her friends and siblings seated there, the kids and elders were missing from the scene.

"Where are the kids and the elders?" De Xi asked casually as she looked at the group sitting on the sofas.

"Kids are upstairs, probably watching Little Princess learning Sword Dance and elders are in the gazebo, drinking tea." Mu Cong said as he fed Jiang Mei fruits.

All the couples were busy in their own world, feeding each other, while George and Fang Gang were busy in their own world discussing the recent medical researches.

"Young Miss, the lunch is ready to be served." Aunt Melan came over and informed De Xi in a respectful tone.

"I'll inform the elders, will you please inform the kids to come down as well." De Xi asked Aunt Melan with a small smile.

"Right away Young Miss." Aunt Melan said respectfully as she bowed slightly and went upstairs to call the kids down for the lunch.

De Xi smiled slightly looking at the couples and walked upstairs towards the gazebo to call the elders for lunch.

"Years passed so quickly right. It seems like yesterday when these kids were playing around the house and now their kids have grown past the age of playing around the house." Grandma Li said with a sigh as she smiled nostalgically.

"Indeed Mother, these kids indeed grew up very fast." Father Li agreed whereas others nodded.

"Alas! Now all I hope for is for our kids to be happy." Grandma Lu said in a regretful tone.

"What happened back then...*sigh* nevermind, let's not remember those bitter memories." Mother De sighed, still unable to figure out what De Xi meant in the morning.

"Xi'er and Ah Bai, they both have suffered a lot, and yet there is still no longlasting happiness in their lives." Father Lu said in a remorseful tone, all others sighed heavily as well.

"Don't know how much more rain and storm they will have to witness before their days are full of brightness." Father De also lamented as he looked towards the sun high in the sky as if asking it to shed its light on his daughter's marriage.

"A life without rain would be an empty glass." De Xi quoted lightly as she walked towards the elders with a warm smile.

"We are becoming quite a philosopher now, aren't we?" Mother Li asked jokingly, trying to lighten up the mood.
