Lucky Star

Chapter 27 - PANIC ATTACK....

De Xi shuddered when she heard the laughter as if a spell was broken and she could finally feel all the pain at once.

"N-No... No... NO!!!" De Xi shouted painfully, her breathing constricted, as she closed her ears tightly until her palm and ears were both pale, without blood.

"President!" Cheng Jiu ran inside the cabin.

When she did not receive a reply from De Xi but instead she heard some muffled sound over the soundproofing of the door, she quickly entered the password to the door and entered, only to find De Xi's head buried in her palm as she was hyperventilating.

"President! Eva! Can you hear me? Xixi, follow my voice... Take a deep breath in... Let it out slowly..." Cheng Jiu quickly crouched down beside De xi's chair as she guided her breathing while quickly shutting down the audio file.

Finally, after what felt like an entire hour, De Xi had calmed down completely but she still refused to talk to Cheng Jiu scarring her.

After trying to make De Xi speak or respond to her once again but failing to do so, she took out her mobile to call for George and Frank, as they were the doctors dealing with her condition.

The door to the office was suddenly thrown open as three figures rushed in, two of them frantically running towards De Xi.

"Damm*t, we are still late." George cursed as he tried to snap De Xi out of her state of trance.

"How long has it been since the attack?" Mu Feng a.k.a Frank asked Cheng Jiu in a tone of urgency.

"An hour when I found her and she has been like this since half-an-hour." Cheng Jiu answered as she looked at her wristwatch to confirm her doubts.

"Shall we bring her to the hospital immediately?" Mu Cong asked in worry, his voice wavering showing how scarred he was.

"In her state, even if she was in between a country fair, the voice won't enter her mind. Right now her mind is stuck in a loop with that tune, or much worse, that laughter at the end." Frank said in a grave tone.

"You heard the audio file as well?" Cheng Jiu asked in shock.

Though she did not hear the complete audio file, she heard the laughter at the end and could already guess what it was.

"I received it," George said with a deep frown.

"What has to be done now? It is not like usual this time. You know who all are here, if it takes time like last time, we won't be able to explain it to anyone." Mu Cong said as he urged the other two to do something.

"Do you think we don't know that? The man back at the mansion would not hesitate before he throws us to feed the wolves." Frank hissed as he glared at Mu Cong.

"What is more important now is Eva, not the people we have to explain things," George shouted angrily as he glared at Frank and Mu Cong.

"Yes..." Frank nodded as he got to work.

"Sorry..." Mu Cong quickly apologized and waited at the side alongside Cheng Jiu, as Fank and George got to work.

////////// ONE WEEK LATER //////////

Inside a high end penthouse beside De Group...

A sleeping De Xi was lying on top of the large king-sized bed inside a room decorated in grey undertones.

She stirred lightly making the monitor connected to her beep loudly, gaining the attention of the two people in the living room.

George and Frank ran inside the bedroom and looked at De Xi who stirred lightly in her sleep, relief washing over them.

After the panic attack a week before, De Xi was like a lifeless doll.

She won't even swallow water, making them attach her to an IV drip for supplements.

After stirring for few more moments, De Xi finally opened her eyes, only to squint uncomfortably.

De Xi looked at the distantly familiar ceiling and frowned, trying to remember the last thing she did.

"You are finally awake." Frank sighed as he slumped against the wall, looking haggard and tired.

George also smiled softly, his eyebags sagging quite painfully, making him look like a panda.

"How long did you two not rest?" De Xi asked calmly, but she low-key felt bad for them.

"Heartless lady, why do you open that audio file even after you know the outcome? Is one person tormenting us not enough? You want to add on to our worries as well?" Frank complained as he angrily took De Xi's vitals.

"How long has it been?" De Xi asked as she remembered something.

"A week," George answered her softly, as Frank was too busy complaining to answer her question.

"Did you?" De Xi asked hesitantly, as she looked towards George in worry.

"No, we told them you were on an urgent business trip," George answered her calmly.

"You owe us a lot this time," Frank said gruffly, as he softly glared at De Xi.

"You both go rest up. I'm fine now." De Xi said as she pushed Frank and George by hand, not allowing them to protest.

Frank and George were too fatigued to protest and obediently went to their respective rooms to rest up.

De Xi sat up on her bed, leaning against the headboard and looking outside the french windows, giving the beautiful night view of the bustling city of Paris.

A slow smile, full of ridicule and pain formed on her face, as images of the past flashed across her eyes, still fresh like it happened just yesterday.

"You passed your pain to us and happily left for heaven.. Are you happy there?" De Xi asked softly as she looked towards the night sky outside.
