Lucky Star

Chapter 17 - NARCISSISTIC....

"Is by any chance Grandma Li, Grandpa Mu's younger sister? They look quite similar." Natalia asked doubtfully.

"They indeed are." De Xi answered with a small fond smile.

"Mummy..." Natalia called out but paused uncertainly whether to continue or not.

"What is it, sweetheart?" De Xi asked tenderly.

"With just these pictures I could say... You loved and were loved by your family. So..." Natalia trailed off not sure how to continue.

"You want to ask why I left them? And why I am here, all alone?" De Xi worded out Natalia's question for her.

Natalia nodded her head meekly, clearly not surprised that her mother was able to read her thoughts.

"I kept a snake beside me, which ultimately filled my life with its venom. I had to leave to save our family and friends from the venom." De Xi said with a tone full of self-mockery but there was no anger and hatred in her voice.

"Mummy, you don't seem to be angry or hate that snake. Don't you blame that 'Snake' and do you not want to take revenge?" Natalia asked calling that person snake as her mother did.

De Xi chuckled softly before her smile disappeared and she nodded her head, saying she did not want to take any revenge.

"Why?" Natalia asked with a frown.

Unsure why her mother would not take revenge or avenge herself.

"Don't be afraid to cancel people from your life. Your time is too precious for half-ass people." De Xi said with a small cold smile.

Natalia was momentarily stunned when she heard her mother.

'Mummy erased that person from her life... It is not that she would not avenge herself but she did not think that person worthy enough for any more of her attention...' Natalia thought to herself.

"But Mummy, what if that 'Snake' still insists to find trouble with you? There would be a reason that 'Snake' spewed venom in your life, in the first place..." Natalia asked with a frown.

"Frankly, my dear I don't give a d*mn about what that snake person is planning. Cause darling,

Queens don't compete with ho*s." De Xi said with a regal smile.

Natalia was beyond speechless when her mother used so many bad words in front of her without any reservation.

"Mummy... Do you still remember I'm just seven? Using so many bad words, you surely don't remember, do you?" Natalia mocked her mother.

"You want me to coddle you up like a seven-year-old? Sure." De Xi said with a dark smile as she picked up the album and closed it.

"What are you doing, Mummy?" Natalia asked in confusion.

"Seven-year-olds don't need to know anything else in the album. Go and play with your dollhouse. Oh, wait! You don't have one, I'll quickly have Jiu bring the carpenters and make one for you." De Xi said as she picked up her mobile.

"What do you say on having it built in the terrace?" De Xi asked fluidly, her expressions were not misplaced in the slightest bit.

Natalia looked at her mother, appalled at her mother's fluid acting.

"Mummy...Have you considered a career in acting? You would shine even more brightly in the entertainment industry than in medical and business industries." Natalia said with a scowl.

"I can shine in any industry." De Xi said proudly, like a peacock.

"I suddenly realized what big of a narcissistic woman you are," Natalia said with displeasure clearly painted on her face.

"It's ok to disagree with me, I can't force you to be right." De Xi said as she checked her neatly french manicured nails.

"Any more of this and my Blood Pressure would rise like an old grandma," Natalia said as she huffed in annoyance.

"Right." De Xi agreed, as she obediently placed the album in front of them and opened it.

Natalia's lips twitched as she looked at her mother who was agreeing with her like a filial granddaughter.

"Do you want to see your cousins and brother or not?" De Xi asked in a teasing tone as she smirked playfully.

"Brother?!" Natalia asked dumbstruck.

Natalia received the greatest shock of her life, though she had James and Liam as brother figures in her life, they never really influenced her decisions unlike other older siblings, but now, looks like it is going to change soon.

"Yes, you have an older brother, who lives with your Father and grandparents." De Xi said with a fond smile.

"How old?" Natalia asked hesitantly.

"He and Liam are of the same age." De Xi said with a small, motherly smile.

"Oh..." Natalia answered in an absent-minded manner.

"What happened?" De Xi was a little concerned with Natalia's reaction.

"Just... Will he be like Nova's older brother? Monitoring all my actions and censoring the boys I talk to and the boys I will date?" Natalia asked in a slightly awkward tone.

"I don't know... But your cousin sisters might know." De Xi said with a warm, playful smile dancing on her beautiful lips.

"I have sisters as well? cousins..." Natalia asked, eyes wide.

"You have so many Uncles and Aunts, you would definitely have one right. But you have three, though only one is cousin, consider the other two the same as well." De Xi said with a warm smile.

How can she as a mother not know her daughter's thoughts and wishes, she always knew Natalia wanted a sister, with whom she can share everything.

"Though I don't have their current pictures, I have the one from seven years ago." De Xi said as she directly flipped to the last page of the album.

The page revealed a candid picture, of two pregnant ladies with toddlers around them, doing their own thing.

"This is Aunt Xiu and Aunt Yun... They are holding a baby each... And surrounded by so many toddlers..." Natalia trailed off unsure about what to make of this picture.

"I took this picture eight years ago. Your Aunt Xiu is holding your cousin brother Feng Bao and your Aunt Yun is holding your cousin sister Lu Shuan. They are holding each other's child.." De Xi said, her eyes full of warmth and love.
