Chapter 5: The First World (5) [Part 1]

“Grandma, it’s time to eat.” Chu Wei said as she carried the bowl and chopsticks.

Granny Zhou smiled stiffly, “Yeah.”

“How is Xiao Ji?” After thinking for a while, Granny Zhou felt that only by asking about Xiao Ji will she have a chance to avoid eating the food.

“Luckily, we have a wheelchair in our house. Xiao Ji was indeed having trouble moving in her place. I’ll come over there again to help her change the bandage in the afternoon.”

Granny Zhou couldn’t stop herself from asking: “How about the food you sent to Xiao Ji? Did she like it?”

“Xiao Ji seems to like the food I cooked. It must’ve suite her taste.” Chu Wei voiced out this sentence with great confidence as she thought of how Ji Mo ate her food deliciously.

She couldn’t wait to pick up her chopsticks and put a dish into her mouth. Seeing this, Granny Zhou held the chopsticks tighter but didn’t mean to move.

Chu Wei didn’t notice it. Currently, she was full of beautiful visions about the taste of her food after her cooking skills inexplicably improved.

Granny Zhou watched the smile on Chu Wei’s vanish as her expression became odd. Soon, she stopped chewing and paused the movements of her mouth. As if the time stood still, she didn’t say a word.

The big stone in her heart had been lifted. She has tasted every dish just now, but it only looked good in appearance. As for the taste, don’t mention it, it’s definitely not good.

After tasting a few mouthfuls of every dish just now, she secretly ate two mouthfuls of pickles in the kitchen to relieve the discomfort in her mouth. Her family’s Chu Wei was so powerful and talented. It was a miracle that she could cook such an unpalatable dishes with the best ingredients.

She bet that if someone else did it, she might cook something better that was at least edible than her family’s Chu Wei cooking.

“Grandma, how about we order takeouts?” About the food she just ate, Chu Wei was sure that she didn’t have the courage to try it again.

She thought of how Ji Mo ate the food deliciously and instantly fell into a pit of guilt. How can Ji Mo eat it with such a fishy smell? Was she trying not to hurt her face?

“Okay, okay.” Granny hurriedly replied. Although takeouts were a bit greasy, it was still much better than the fancy yet unpalatable food on the table.

Chu Wei was still in dazed and unconsciously ordered more. “Then I will order more and send some to Xiao Ji by the way.”

“Right, you should do that.” Granny Zhou was full of sympathy towards that girl. “Xiao Ji is a kind and good girl.” She took a quick look at Chu Wei, hoping that she could understand what she meant. Regarding this, Chu Wei’s self-confidence was completely blown away.

Xiao Ji is a fool, how can she not say that there was something wrong with the food? Now, she didn’t know if her stomach was still fine.

An hour later, Chu Wei went to Ji Mo’s house with a big takeout meal in her hand.

Ji Mo was a little surprised by her arrival. But Chu Wei was stunned when she saw that she finished all the meals she sent to her in the morning.

“Dr. Chu, did you really come here just to give me a meal for dinner?” Ji Mo didn’t know what was going on in Chu Wei’s mind. Inside, she was thinking that maybe Chu Wei had something to do at night and was worried about her, so she especially gave her a meal for dinner ahead of time.

Chu Wei glanced at the empty plates lying on the table. “You finished all of it?”

“Yes, perhaps it’s because of my injury, but I especially have a good appetite this time.” Ji Mo lied without changing her expression. This habit was developed when she was still at the end of the world. Moreso when it comes to food, she felt that she can’t change this habit of hers for a while.

As for whether it was delicious or not, or whether it had a fishy smell or not, she didn’t have the concept of it.

Chu Wei discovered the problem. It looked like Ji Mo was sincere in saying that the meal just now was good.

She had a guess. Maybe, Xiao Ji didn’t have a sense of taste?

She carefully asked, “Does today’s food suit your taste?”

“Yes.” Ji Mo answered.

Chu Wei didn’t ask any more questions. Both of them were still unfamiliar to each other, so Ji Mo also didn’t say a word.

Chu Wei left.

Ji Mo looked at the big takeout meal left behind by Chu Wei, and the worms in her stomach started to become lively again. It was a pity that this body’s stomach capacity is small, which made her full immediately.

Ji Mo asked the company for a three day leave. During this period, she received various calls from the original owner’s suitors, asking if they could visit her. Without an exception, she declined all of them politely.

Through the mirror, she stared at the person reflected on it. With fair skin, attractive face, and a pair of big watery eyes, the girl in the mirror was specially pretty.

In the past few days, Granny Zhou and Dr. Chu had been giving her food. Dr. Chu went to her house every night to help her change the bandage, and also to help her with trivial things in her home.

Chu Wei didn’t cook anymore. It was Granny Zhou who cooked, with Chu Wei responsible for sending it over to her. She found that Ji Mo was still the same as before. Eating the food with relish, and not picky at all. She no longer doubted her guess and felt that Xiao Ji really didn’t have a sense of taste.

In a short span of three days, Ji Mo can finally walk with Dr. Chu’s help and assistance. The wound on the soles of her feet was not deep in the first place. It was only because of the stuck peebles that it took a long time before she could be healed.

The weather was very hot. She can only stay inside her house for fear that her wound will be infected because of the hot temperature outside.

Ji Mo only took an absence of three days and she went back to work on the fourth day. She put on flat shoes and got ready to leave. She didn’t wear any inconvenient clothes like skirts, and instead wore a set of comfortable clothes. Fortunately, the company didn’t require the female employees to wear a dress or skirt.

Her job in the company was not the front desk girl. There was no need to dress up well, so she decided to wear more casual clothes in the future.

In case she encounters that misogynist murderer again, she can run fast and unobstructed this time.

It just so happened that she could take advantage of her injury in feet to slowly change her habits without anyone suspecting anything. They will feel that her change was right and reasonable after she suffered an injury.
