Chapter 3: First World (3) [Part 2]

“Here we are.” Chu Wei’s voice pulled Ji Mo back to reality. At the same time, Chu Wei slowly put Ji Mo down and this time she did it in a princess hug.

“Get the key and open the door.”

She immediately searched through her handbag and found the key inside. When the door opened, Chu Wei carried her inside.

The original owner’s house was a condominium type. Looking at the neat appearance of the house, it was obvious that the original owner was a very tidy person. Inside the condominium were some simple furnishings. It was styled delicately, and looked like a place where young girls usually lived.

Chu Wei put Ji Mo down on the sofa, “Try not to touch water for the next few days. Also, remember to change the bandage every day.”

Ji Mo reminded herself that tomorrow, she must put an application online to hire a helper to help her take care of her while she is still injured.

Suddenly, her stomach growled twice. The room became deathly silent.

“You haven’t eaten yet?”

Ji Mo nodded in response, “Yes, this time I came back straight from work. I originally planned to order a takeout after I got home, but something happened and I went straight to the clinic first.”

Usually, the original owner would cook the food by herself rather than to order some takeouts. She wasn’t like the other young people who usually prefer to order food by takeout every time. She believed that the food she cooks was healthier and good for her body.

Ji Mo was not a picky eater either. For people like her who experienced what it feels like to live at the end of the world, no matter whether the food is healthy or not, good or not, or delicious or not, they will eat it as long as it can prolong their life and replenish their energy.

Thinking of this, the original owner was actually a good girl. It was a pity that she was targeted by the misogynist murderer and lost her life at a young age.

Perhaps it was because she was now the original owner, or because the murderer wanted to kill her, but Ji Mo gritted her teeth in anger for that misogynist killer. She promised that right after her wound was healed, she must learn self defense. If what System No. 444 said was true, then the murderer must be thinking of another plan to get back at her.

System No. 444 didn’t give her any information about why the misogynist murderer chose to follow her. It seemed that she could only figure it out by herself.

Ji Mo was lost in her thoughts so she didn’t notice that Chu Wei was staring at her for a long time. After thinking for a bit, Chu Wei opened her mouth, “Are there any ingredients at your home? If you don’t mind, I’ll cook some for you.”

“Wouldn’t that be too much trouble?” Ji Mo asked hesitantly. Actually, she was grateful for Dr. Chu’s offer as she knew that she has been hungry for a long time now. If Dr. Chu doesn’t really mind the trouble, then boiled vegetables will do.

Chu Wei replied, “It’s no trouble. It’s just a matter of convenience because your feet are still injured. But I may not have much talent in cooking though, so I can’t guarantee its taste. Moreover, your place is located in a relatively remote place so there are fewer shops that’s still open at night. It might take us roughly one hour before the takeout can arrive if we ever choose to order a takeout.”

She also took into account that when the takeout was delivered, Ji Mo couldn’t get it because of her inconvenient feet. Additionally, she was still frightened by the sudden event a while ago. She was worried that if she left Ji Mo alone, and when she ordered takeout, there might be another man to sneak behind her again.”

The reason why she thought so was because she has been observing Ji Mo. When the other party was explaining what she encountered, she was very calm and articulate. Not at all worried. She looks as if knew that the man who has been following her was trying to harm her.

Why does Ji Mo think that the man she met tonight will cause her danger? Perhaps, she knew something.

Ordinary people shouldn’t subconsciously take off their shoes when they discover that someone is following them. Their first instinctive reaction should be to run away quickly, regardless of whether the gravel on the ground will make them stumble. But Ji Mo, she seemed to know that something will happen and reacted very calmly.

She also found that there were traces of dust and dirt marks on Ji Mo’s handbag, as well as on her palm and arms. There is no injury in her body, so how did this dust and dirt get on her?

Did she pick up something, maybe stones or bricks on the ground? And used it for self defense?

But it was also possible that this wasn’t the first time that Ji Mo encountered something like this, so when she felt that someone was following her, she instinctively escaped?

With these questions swirling inside her mind, Chu Wei opened the refrigerator.

Inside the refrigerator were some vegetables and eggs. There was still rice in the kitchen, so she planned to cook a millet porridge. Add a whole egg to the porridge while still in the pot, and stir-fry some vegetables.

“You didn’t have meat in your refrigerator?”

Ji Mo heard Chu Wei’s question and she replied unhurriedly, “I’m used to eating vegetables, so I don’t eat meat that much. I usually eat eggs, and sometimes chicken.”

“You should get some meat dishes to eat too.”

Ji Mo agreed, “Right, I was thinking of the same thing. I will order some meat online tomorrow and get it delivered on the same day.”

Ji Mo gulped involuntarily as she thought of the taste of a meat. She likes meat very much, as well as vegetables. Anyway, she likes to eat anything. In the end of the world in her past life, eating clean fresh meat and vegetables was already a kind of luxury.

And fruit too, she thought in her head.

She looked at the fruit plate sitting on the table, picked an apple and started to peel it.

She had finished peeling the apple when Chu Wei who had already put the rice into the pot and washed the vegetables, arrived.

“After the millet porridge is cooked, heat the stir-fry vegetables again, otherwise, it will be cold.” Chu Wei briefly explained. While doing so, her gaze fell on the peeled apple in Ji Mo’s hand.

Ji Mo was embarrassed to be looked at like this. Dr, Chu is the guest, but she enthusiastically helped her with cooking and so on. This peeled should be given to her.

Ji Mo resisted her inner greediness and let out a smile. “Thank you for your hard work, Dr. Chu. Here, I peeled an apple for you.”

“Then I will not be polite.” Chu Wei accepted her gesture and took the peeled apple. Anyway, she liked apples very much.

Sitting at the side, she started to gnaw on the apple. Her actions were exactly what she said, not polite in the slightest.

Hearing the crunching sound of Chu Wei biting the apple, Ji Mo felt her mouth overflowed with saliva. She quickly took another apple and stopped for a moment. If it wasn’t for her inconvenient legs, she wouldn’t need to exert an effort to peel the apple at all. She can just directly eat it after washing it.

But, she couldn’t ask Dr. Chu to help her wash the apple, couldn’t she?

While peeling the skin of the apple and listening to the sound of Chu Wei gnawing, Ji Mo thought in her heart: The apple she peeled first was the biggest, and its taste should be also superb.

But forget it, Dr. Chu helped her a lot this time and she deserved the biggest apple that tasted crispy and sweet.
