Limitless Survival Game

Suburban hospital.

The bloody smell from open wounds, the strong body odor from lack of hygiene and the foul stench of purulent discharge from wound infections were mixed together. The pungent smell can almost knock people out.

Most of the hospital staff had already left; only one nurse remained at her post. But in the absence of medical supplies, the only thing she can do is try her best to comfort the patients.

“Miss nurse, my son has a fever. Do you have any anti-fever medicine here?” The mother’s eyes were full of hope, expecting a miracle.

The nurse could only show an apologetic smile, “I’m out of any kind of medicine. Why don’t you go and check somewhere else?”

The young mother’s face turned pale. She has gone to most of the hospitals; they all said to check somewhere else. 

The nurse reminded her, “Don’t go to the other hospitals. Go to a small private clinic. Hospitals will have either run out of medicine or been robbed by now.”

The young mother was enlightened.

“Thank you, thank you so much” She ran out while thanking the nurse.

At this time, one person walked towards the nurse with an anxious look on her face, “Hello, is there any anti-inflammatory medicine here? I was grazed by a stray bullet, and the wound became inflamed and infected.”

The nurse answered with a grimace, “No, we have no medicine left here.”

The person lowered her head dejectedly. 

The nurse couldn’t bear to look at the hopeless expression on the girl’s face. In the current situation, those with wound infections can only wait for death. And it’s not just one or two patients that were facing this situation at this hospital.

The visitor asked cautiously, “Can I stay in the hospital for a day then?”

Before the nurse could answer, she hurriedly made a promise, “I don’t have any money on me now, but.. but I will work hard to pay it back in the future!”

The nurse glanced at her with a smile, “You don’t have to pay anything. The patients are all staying in the lobby on the ground floor. If you want, you can come with me.” 

“That’s great.” The person beaming with joy was Su Han.

‘Great?’ The nurse’s smile was slightly bitter. The only patients that were still in the hospital were those who were waiting to die. Would a healthy person remain in the hospital for no reason? If she had not been diagnosed with terminal cancer, she would not have stayed behind in the hospital. 

The nurse thought a lot. She only uttered a soft “Come with me.” in the end.

“En.” Su Han responded with a smile, but her eyes flickered. In fact, she was planning to stay in a single ward alone. She only came to the reception area to check out if it was safe to stay in the hospital.

Su Han’s pupils shrank once she stepped inside the lobby – all she could see were red and yellow numbers flickering everywhere.

“Satiety: 30%, cleanliness: 15%, energy 20%. Sate: Extremely poor, having a fever, wound infection present.”

“Satiety: 20%, cleanliness: 23%, energy 26%. Sate: Extremely poor, experiencing abdominal pain and diarrhea.”

“Satiety: 34%, cleanliness: 32%, energy 31%. Sate: Poor, expecting labor.”

There was an aura of death in the lobby. Su Han wrinkled her nose, feeling a little uncomfortable.

The nurse turned around, “There is a well behind the hospital, everyone usually get their water from there. Although it is not as clean as mineral water, it’s still better than drinking tap water. The patients with a stomachache and diarrhea drunk tap water before.”

Su Han reminded her, “The water supply has been cut off.”

The nurse was dazed. She only replied to Su Han after a moment, “Sorry, I forgot.”

“It’s alright.”

After thanking the nurse, Su Han randomly found a place to sit down and checked her attributes – Satiety: 62%, cleanliness: 58%, and energy 73%. State: Healthy, wound infection present.

She felt a little troubled; she had deliberately eaten and drunk less to lower her attributes. However, it was still very conspicuous compared to others here. Looking around, she realized it was not suitable for her to stay in this crowd.

In order to avoid arousing suspicion, Su Han stayed in the lobby all night with a sickly appearance on her face.

On the 17th day, the system announced, “The price of goods rose by 100%, and all shops in A5 town are now closed. Infectious diseases have begun to spread. Those with weak physiques are extremely vulnerable to infections. (Note: People with energy level < 50 are those with weak physique. Those with satiety + cleanliness + energy > 200 will be immune to epidemic diseases. After contracting the disease, the player will lose 20 energy per day.)”

Su Han brows knitted, pretending to be afraid of the epidemic and staying away from the crowd, she darted away from the lobby. Immediately afterward, she found a deserted place to use some soaps. She ate a chocolate cake and a piece of brown bread to increase her satiety and cleanliness levels to dark green. Then, she used anti-inflammatory drugs to remove the “Infection” state.

She patiently waited for the sum of her attributes to get to over 200 without moving from her spot. Su Han’s nerves relaxed only after she confirmed she is now immune to infectious diseases. 

“Ah!!–” An extremely miserable cry came from the lobby. 

Su Han’s scalp was numb. She turned and ran out of the main building as soon as she heard the sound. She chose to stay in a single patient room in the hospital building next door after making sure there was no one else. 

On the 18th day, the situation became even more severe. The system gave a notice, “The price of goods rose by 100%. From the town’s 500,000 people, there are about 80,000 survivors (Players + NPCs) left. The infection rate for epidemic diseases has increased, and those with weak physiques are extremely vulnerable to infections. (Note: People with energy level < 50 are those with weak physique. Those with satiety + cleanliness + energy > 220 will be immune to epidemic diseases. After contracting the disease, the player will lose 25 energy per day.)”

Satiety: 90%, cleanliness: 92% and energy 79%. State: Healthy. Su Han breath out a sigh of relief after checking her attributes.

On the 19th day, “The price of goods rose by 100%. The infection rate for epidemic diseases has increased, and those with weak physiques are extremely vulnerable to infections. (Note: People with energy level < 50 are those with weak physique. Those with satiety + cleanliness + energy > 240 will be immune to epidemic diseases. After contracting the disease, the player will lose 30 energy per day.)”

On the 20th day, the voice of the system came on time, “The price of goods rose by 100%. The infection rate for epidemic diseases has increased, and people with weak physiques are extremely vulnerable to infections. (Note: People with energy level < 50 are those with weak physique. Those with satiety + cleanliness + energy > 260 will be immune to epidemic diseases. After contracting the disease, the player will lose 40 energy per day.)”

Su Han calmed down after checking her inventory. The complete silence in the building made her feel like there was no other living person in this world except her. It was a bit unnerving. 

Su Han observed the situation outside from the window of her room from time to time. She made up her mind to stay inside the room until the end of the instance.
