21 – First Night (1)

As we came out of the forest, many people were waiting for us.

Gibson looks at us as if acknowledging us as a married couple.

Adam is smiling.

Baran nodded in congratulations.

Gidin looking at Ner.

Looking at them, I said.

“It is over.”

Gibson nodded and addressed the crowd.

“Then let’s go back.”

I could see Ner’s head lowered.

“…If we see off the newlyweds, our role will be over.”

****

This time I put Ner in front of me.

We also had a heart to protect from the numerous mercenaries who followed us.

Everyone threw mischievous pranks, and each time he heard the prank, Ner’s tail dragged even more.

Actually, it was a prank that didn’t cross the line by my standards, but from Ner’s point of view, it seemed uncomfortable to hear.

Different cultures, different statuses… There were a lot of things to understand.

Ner soon stops in front of a door.

The room where we will spend the night.

At that strange sound, even my heart fluttered.

This is where you fully become a couple.

To mix bodies and leave a deeper mark on each other than rings.

The fact that my first experience was with Ner will not change until I die, and it will be the same for Ner.

To share a once-in-a-lifetime experience.

Ner stood in front of the door for a while.

She didn’t move.

I looked at her like that, then reached out from behind her and opened her door.

If you keep standing here, nothing will change.

Since she would hesitate anyway, I gently pushed Ner into the open room.

“Oops…!”

Ner resisted me for a moment, but then he walked helplessly inside.

After evacuating her first, I looked at the people who followed me and said.

“Everybody should go back now.”

The mischievous sounds of lamentation and laughter continue.

A member of the Blackwood family looked at these mercenaries with slight discomfort, then turned away.

As they went away, Baran also led the other members of the group.

Only Adam remains for a while and looks at me.

Again, those sorry eyes.

I clicked my tongue and lightly pushed his brother’s face with the palm of my hand.

“Hey, this is for you…!”

“Go, now. Go and rest.”

“…”

When my brother finally couldn’t take his feet off, I pondered for a long time before whispering, holding my breath.

He spat out empty words so that he could be reassured.

“I like it because it is pretty. So, stop being sorry and leave.”

“… Huh?”

Adam hyung’s expression straightened out like never before.

“…Was it?”

“Yes. So some.”

He began to nod slowly.

Even a small smile catches my lips.

“Okay, Berg. I’ll go then.”

I saw my older brother turning away, then went into the room and shut the door.

– Kung.

“……”

Then, as if the world had been cut off, complete silence came.

…It’s so quiet you can even hear your breathing.

In the corner of the dark room, a small candle is lit.

The candles sway as they burn the air and make a sound.

I see Ner’s shimmering silhouette.

You can smell the scent of flowers blooming with scented candles.

Everything in the room is a foreshadowing of future action.

“…”

“…”

It’s a different atmosphere from when the two of us were left alone in the forest.

Ner was sitting on the bed helplessly.

The drooping tail is scattered randomly on the bed.

Did she accept it too?

I couldn’t read his mind, and I couldn’t see his expression, so I didn’t know.

Anyway, I had to fulfill the last step of my marriage.

As a man, I had a duty.

With a long sigh, I took off my clothes slowly.

I take my arms out of my coat one by one.

I hang the coat I took off on a nearby chair.

Ner did not move.

I slowly tidied up the clothes that were wrapped in layers one by one.

Perhaps it was a formal dress, there were definitely a lot of layers.

Even during that time, Ner stood still.

Without a word, without movement.

I took off my last coat.

The upper body was exposed.

A little bit of cold air sweeps through me.

At the same time, Ner’s yellow eyes turned to me for a moment.

“…”

A brief silence ensued.

I blink for a moment, then I realize that things could get even more awkward as it is.

So I slowly approached her, kneading her stiff neck from her morning training.

-Toduk…

And soon after, she started to shed tears like chicken droppings.

“…Huh…”

****

Ner tried to hold it in, but he couldn’t stop the tears from flowing.

My heart shriveled in fear as the human mercenary Berg took off his clothes, and my breath stopped when I saw his bare body.

Tears came out as he walked away with his neck untied.

Numerous scars. Bright muscles.

It was clear to me that if he put his mind to it, he wouldn’t be able to resist him.

I had to give my body to someone I didn’t love.

Ner had a plan until he entered the room.

I’m trying to talk to him rationally without shedding tears.

And I’m trying to make a request that I myself know is nonsense.

Please don’t take away my virginity. I have a partner of destiny.

But all those words became something I couldn’t utter for fear of reprisal.

I already knew that these were things I shouldn’t have said in my head in the first place.

I said such nonsensical things for no reason, not to mention that all of today’s rituals would be invalidated, and it might even excite the opponent.

I heard that there are also humans who take pleasure in violating women who resist.

I heard that some people like to see the distorted expression of a woman.

I couldn’t be sure that the tongue-in-cheek, cruel, woman-hating Berg wasn’t such a person.

But all of that is now in vain.

I shed tears.

I don’t know how he’ll take these tears, but I’m sure it will give them a negative perception.

Ner hurriedly wiped away the tears with both hands, but the tears did not dry from his eyes.

“Here…Wait a minute…Huh…Joe…just a little time…”

“…”

Berg is frozen, moving slowly.

“Uh.. Ugh…!”

Ner crawled back out of bed. Soon he reached the wall, but there was no other way.

She couldn’t even look up at Berg. I was so afraid to check what kind of expression he was making.

Ner could see that Berg, who was approaching him, was reaching out to her.

She finally closed her eyes.

– Took.

“…?”

Then, something light is placed on her leg.

Nere opened her eyes with difficulty and confirmed what it was.

It was a white cloth.

Ner raised her head to her puzzlement, and Berg said.

“…Wipe away your tears.”

“…”

Soon Berg turned her body and sat lightly on the bed. So he didn’t come any further.

Instead, he let out a long sigh.

“Haa…”

“…”

Ner was anxious, but looked at him carefully.

She couldn’t even lift the cloth from her own lap.

“…I’ll let go. We are a couple now.”

He said.

Ner was struggling to come to terms with this confusing situation.

Berg was sitting on the bed, his elbow resting on his knee.

I let out another long sigh wondering what I was thinking.

Then he slightly turned his head and asked a sudden question.

“…Werewolves say they only love one person for the rest of their lives…Is that true?”

Ner thought for a long time about what the intention was, but no answer came.

Eventually, Ner nodded slowly, frightened by the numerous scars on his back.

From noble mtl dot com

“…I see.”

Not all werewolves were like that, but in general they only looked at one.

Ner also saved his whole heart to love only one person.

What was Berg thinking? And he stayed still for a while.

The wind shakes the window, making a natural sound.

“…Then, of course, liking someone must be just as difficult.”

Berg asks a question after a long silence.

I don’t know what the intention was, but it seemed like there was nothing bad about answering yes.

Ner nodded his head cautiously again.

Berg chuckled.

“…But if you suddenly ask me to mix my body with someone I don’t even like, of course I wouldn’t like it.”

“…”

I felt it slightly at dinner last time, but there was nothing frightening about Berg’s actions.

I don’t know if it was consideration or acting, but he felt like an idiot for being so scared himself.

Ner instantly thought an opportunity had arrived.

She said to him, clutching at the robe she hadn’t taken off yet.

“…Ha… I don’t want to…”

“…I have no intention of forcing myself.”

Ner felt the pressure that had been weighing down his chest loosen even more at his answer.

A numb feeling of relief comes to my whole body, as if my breath is clearing up.

Tears flowed again.

Ner wiped the tears again with the back of his hand.

The cloth Berg gave him was still resting on his lap.

Looking at her like that, Berg says.

“…We got involved for our own reasons… Like it or not, we’re a couple now. I don’t want to get it wrong from the first button. I don’t want to live my whole life… hating each other.”

Ner somehow calmed her tears. A shrug of her shoulders intermittently takes her breath.

I never thought that the frightened Berg would say such a thing.

“…How long will it take for werewolves to like people…?”

His words sound like a grace period.

Ner swallowed and recited a number that instantly popped into his head.

“…One year…Ah, two years…”

It takes a long time for werewolves to fall in love, but that doesn’t mean there is a specific number.

Even so, Ner spit out a specific time, of course it was intentional.

But Berg shook his head.

“…No.”

“Yes?”

“That is too long.”

For a moment, Ner’s breath stops. Heart sinks

My ears trembled and I turned to him.

“…That…But…But…”

Berg said.

“In a few days, our men will go to battle. You will have to fight for your life Some will get hurt… Some will die. It’s difficult for you, who was obtained that way, to cry next to me every day…”

“…”

Berg turned his upper body slowly.

Ner meets his eyes.

His eyes look a bit sad.

“I know. I understand. After all, because of each other’s circumstances, they are tied like this. You can’t love me yet I’m afraid and I hate it but…”

“…”

“…But we risk our lives. It’s embarrassing that you’re doing this even for the sake of the members. Members should be proud to accept you. You have to pay for it with your life.”

“…”

“Of course, I am not saying that you should smile by my side every day. Even so, keeping yourself away from me too much is a problem. Being happy next to me was not a condition of our contract, but…”

Berg seemed to be thinking about something, but he kept his mouth shut.

“…I promise.”

“…Yes?”

“I am also aware of the adjectives attached to our race. There will be resistance to the human race, and I know that interspecies marriage will be as embarrassing as it was unexpected.”

Ner’s reluctance, of course, was there, but the bigger part was that he couldn’t connect with the person of his destiny.

As much as he suffered all his life and was alone, he had been waiting for the help of salvation to appear someday, but he was at a loss as he had to walk a long path of hardship.

But Berg continued.

“It will definitely be difficult in the future… As much as the cultures are different, there will be moments when we do not understand each other.”

“…”

“But I won’t do anything you don’t like. Anyway, now I’m… Your husband. I will be on your side.”

I was confused at Berg’s much friendlier appearance than I expected.

Where did the cruel man go?

Who hates women?

Which human race was said to be in heat?

Which mercenary is said to enjoy s*x?

Among the many words that modify him, none of them could explain the man in front of him.

Ner saw Berg’s true face for the first time. More than anything she had ever heard of, her present appearance seemed more unadorned.

“So, don’t be afraid of me anymore. Therefore…”

Berg climbs slowly onto the bed. Then he stretched out his hand.

Ner just watched him approaching.

There was still the fear of the very act of his approach, but there was nowhere else to run.

His actions that followed were so gentle.

His hand crossed over hers.

I can feel the warm touch.

“…So hide your feelings for us. Be patient. At least do that.”

A courteous request with sincerity. It was a request from a person who values his people.

At the end, he even laughed and said.

“…Besides, if you keep doing this, Adam will be annoying.”

Ner looked down at his hand where Berg’s hand rested.

Though his hands are clumsy, they didn’t feel as resistant as they did all day today.

Of course, even this was one thing I didn’t want to do.

I wanted to keep my body as clean as possible for my fateful opponent.

Even so, it’s probably because Berg’s request as a person was conveyed.

For some reason, it seemed that his heart was coming from his touch.

Ner paused for a while, and asked quietly.

“Pretending to be good…Acting…You mean? Until I… Like you…?”

“As long as the two of us are alone, you can act as you please.”

She gathers courage once again.

“…What if I can’t love you to the end?”

It was an answer that contained a weak conscience.

Already, Ner was only looking at her destined partner.

Betraying him, disassembling the mercenaries, just reversing the contract and paying his ransom… Ner was planning to leave Berg someday.

I didn’t want to wait for the love I wouldn’t give.

“…”

Berg did not answer right away.

His straight shoulders seemed to droop slightly.

And then, he says.

“…I hope not.”
