In the Same Boat

Chapter 17.1

After talking to Dou Yucong on the phone, Qu Yiheng returned to the living room. Regardless of his mood, it was rude to leave his guest like this.

He came out, looking a bit overwhelmed.

It’s been so long since he had a guest in the house, and apart from Dou Yucong, he hasn’t seen a third face in the house for a year or two.

He said, “Well, I sent my brother to buy some groceries. He’s pretty good at cooking, so he’ll be making dinner tonight.”

Yao Zhan smiled at him, but the awkwardness on his face made Yao Zhan feel a bit nervous as well.

He really wanted to see what kind of place Qu Yiheng lived in, as if he could learn more about the mystery of “Qu Yiheng” by taking such a step forward.

But obviously, this made Qu Yiheng a little uncomfortable.

Yao Zhan wanted to apologize, but thought that saying anything more would only make things worse. Since he had already come, talking about it was pointless and would only affect the atmosphere.

“I’m not a bad cook, either.” He said, “The chefs hired by our company are not as good as me.”

Finally, Qu Yiheng smiled, “Really? Then you can show your skills later.”

He walked over and asked Yao Zhan, “What would you like to drink?”

Yao Zhan beckoned him to come closer to him.

They were alone in the house and it was quiet, with only the hum of the air conditioning.

Qu Yiheng walked up to Yao Zhan, and their eyes never left each other.

There is a window on their right, and what they do here can be clearly seen from the opposite side.

But Qu Yiheng didn’t care, because he didn’t know those people at all. Why should he care about those people he didn’t even know?

As they got closer, Qu Yiheng simply lifted his leg and sat on Yao Zhan’s lap. His knees were pressed against the sofa, and he used his hands to prop himself up on the back of the chair, not wanting to sit too heavily on Yao Zhan.

Yao Zhan circled his waist and asked, “Am I making you uncomfortable?”

Yao Zhan couldn’t help but ask. He found that when facing Qu Yiheng, he couldn’t appear like a seasoned socialite and would occasionally make some low-level mistakes, which made him look foolish.

Qu Yiheng laughed.

The scene when he just entered the door was indeed so embarrassing that he wished he could freeze the world and erase everyone’s memories. He was planning to clean up and go out to pick up the person, but unexpectedly, he was caught in such a “natural” state.

To add to the embarrassment, Dou Yucong was also there.

He didn’t want to bring it up, but for some reason, when Yao Zhan asked him about it, he felt his heart soften and he didn’t feel so bad anymore.

He didn’t shake his head or nod, but just smiled and leaned into Yao Zhan’s arms, rubbing his cheek against the other’s.

Yao Zhan was so aroused by his movements that he rubbed his back with his hand.

“Just finished taking a shower?” Yao Zhan asked knowingly as he sniffed, “It smells good.”

Qu Yiheng blushed at his words, no matter what they had done or how many times they had done it, he still couldn’t handle it when the other person hugged him and said such things in broad daylight.

He was too thin-skinned to stand the flirtation.

Qu Yiheng said, “I’m sorry about today.”

“Why?” Yao Zhan asked.

“I forgot to wait for you.”

Yao Zhan chuckled in his ear, a laugh that sounded like a feather and tickled Qu Yiheng’s heart.

“I accept your apology.” He said, “So are you going to make it up to me today?”

Qu Yiheng unconsciously moved in his embrace and softly said “Mm”.

The atmosphere was too ambiguous, as if the two of them were lovers in a hot romance.

Qu Yiheng had actually been drawing all day and was very tired. But in this awkward posture, he gradually felt his exhaustion dissipating.

He thought to himself, ‘Yao Zhan is truly a doctor who can cure all ailments.’

This thought made him feel ridiculous and silly.
