I'll Tell You Every Day

Zhihao returned to the room where Liu Jin and Daiyu were waiting for them.

"Jin." He was about to speak when he saw Daiyu.

"Xiao Yu, why don't you go and take a bath first." Zhihao suggested.

"But Daiyu wants to take a bath with Jin-gege!" She pouted cutely.

Liu Jin bent down and kissed her forehead.

"It's okay, Xiao Yu. We'll be together again in a little while, okay?"

Daiyu paused before nodding obediently.

"Owkay."

"Good girl." Liu Jin then escorted her to her room before taking Zhihao to another room.

"What happened?" He asked.

"Xiulan's here." Zhihao then recounted to him the conversation he heard between Butler Tang and Wang Jing.

Liu Jin clenched his fist.

"What do we do now?" Zhihao asked, worried.

" Can you ask Bob to look around?"

Zhihao's eyes widened a bit before he nodded.

"Gotcha." He then gave Bob a call.

Since there was not much they could do as eight-year-olds, Bob's presence greatly helped them out. Zhihao had asked him to ask around and investigate, see what he could find about Qiaoling and why Xiulan ended up in such a state. (Wow. Unintentional rap by Zhihao.)

While waiting for news from Bob, Liu Jin and Zhihao tried their best to plan ahead.

" You think she's up to no good?" Zhihao asked.

Liu Jin paused before shaking his head.

"No. She wouldn't go so far as to hurt herself to this extent. But just in case" He faced Zhihao.

"Let's ask Ye Shun to check." He continued.

"What?! You're gonna use the dude? But how?"

" I'll ask him directly to help us. He doesn't have a reason to say no. He doesn't remember who Xiulan is."

"But won't he find you creepy? Like, you suddenly know that he has a skill???"

"I can tell him that I have a skill too. He can use his skill on me to know that I'm not lying. Then he won't have a reason to doubt us anymore."

" Fine. It's not like we have a choice anyway." Zhihao sighed.

"So, how do we do this?" He asked.

"I'll go talk to him tomorrow. If he agrees, we'll get him to come with us. Bob can ask Xiulan questions, and then Ye Shun can tell us if she's lying or not." Liu Jin explained.

"Bob?"

Liu Jin nodded.

"We can't show our faces. Xiulan would find us suspicious. Specially if she sees Ye Shun."

"But Bob is the epitome of suspicious!!!"

Liu Jin scratched his head. He forgot about that. The man looked like a thug with his bald head and tattoos. Xiulan would definitely lie if Bob asked her about anything.

"Then let's ask Uncle Tang." He suggested.

" You're kidding, right?"

"No. Uncle Tang is cool. He can help us."

"How? Like how are you gonna ask him???"

" Tell him about my skill."

" You're going to tell him our secret?!"

"No. I won't tell him about the reincarnation part. I don't think he'd believe us anyway. But I can tell him about my skill and Ye Shun's too. He should believe us after we show him."

"I know I know but in the long run, getting Uncle Tang on our side is the best choice."

When Zhihao didn't reply, Liu Jin continued.

"He's closest to Daiyu and to the old man as well. He can be our information gateway, and he's good manpower too. As children, our options are extremely limited. We can't get anyone better than him right now."

Zhihao gritted his teeth. He didn't like the idea one bit but he couldn't deny that Liu Jin made really good arguments as well.

"Plus, if there's anyone in this mansion that would believe and help us, its Uncle Tang."

Zhihao sighed.

"Fine."

With that, the boys finalized their plan and decided to start moving tomorrow.

Meanwhile, Wang Jing sat inside the hospital lounge as the doctors tended to Xiulan. On the way to the hospital, the child had told him everything her mother did to her, including Qiaoling's failing attempt to get Cui Cheng's attention.

"Tang Yun, make sure that no one knows Xiulan is here. That woman must still be looking for her." He instructed.

Butler Tang nodded and immediately went to work. He had Xiulan transferred to a VIP suite and had her name on the hospital records changed. He also made sure that the CCTV footages didn't have any records of their visit tonight.

Wang Jing then picked up his phone and dialed a number.

"Did you find anything?" He asked when the call connected.

"Yes. What the child said seems to be true. I asked their neighbors and they've reported that they often heard loud noises and things breaking at night coming from Qiaoling's apartment. Today as well, someone heard a commotion before he saw the daughter running out of their house with the mother chasing after her. I've checked around the streets but, since it's a low-end residential area, there were no CCTV camera's installed."

Wang Jing balled his fists.

"That's fine. Continue and have some of your men tail Qiaoling. Be careful. That woman has her own ways."

"Alright."

With that, Wang Jing ended the call. Just then, the doctor approached him and gave him a report.

"Master Wang, the child"

"It's alright. Tell me everything."

"Right." The doctor sighed before continuing.

"The child has several concussions to her head and a deep cut on her upper right forehead. Her left leg was also fractured and she has two broken ribs. Her right index finger was likewise broken and her right shoulder was dislocated. She has several bruises all over the body, some fresh while some are already healing and scarring."

Wang Jing stayed silent.

"Master Wang, as per protocol, we are supposed to report cases like these to the police"

"Don't. Her mother is out there looking for her."

The doctor paused before nodding. With the number of wounds the child had sustained, it wouldn't be hard to conclude that the perpetrator was trying to kill her.

" Hide her identity for now. It's It's not safe for her out there. I'll work with the police."

"Alright, Master Wang."

Wang Jing nodded before proceeding to Xiulan's suite. He paused in front of her door, hesitating to open it.

Several minutes passed but the old man stood still in silence.

"It's fine to change your mind." A voice came.

Wang Jing turned his head and saw Butler Tang facing him.

"It's fine to change. You already have. You just won't admit it." Butler Tang slowly smiled at his master.

More than anyone, Bulter Tang saw how much Wang Jing had changed in the past year. To say that Daiyu had influenced the old man was an understatement. The child had renewed her grandfather. The man now standing before him was not the same Wang Jing he served a year ago.

Wang Jing looked down before sighing.

After a few more seconds, he lifted his head and opened the door.

The next day, Liu Jin went to visit Ye Shun as promised. He brought Zhihao and Daiyu along because he didn't want to let her out of his sight now that Xiulan was around.

"Jin!" Ye Shun excitedly came to greet him.

Liu Jin nodded.

"Shun, can I talk to you for a moment?"

"Sure." The boy smiled brightly.

Liu Jin and Ye Shun then went to another room while Zhihao and Daiyu waited in the living room.

"Zhihao-gege." Daiyu crawled onto Zhihao's lap.

"Mmm?"

"What are you hiding?"

Zhihao paused, nervously sweating.

"Hahaha. I don't know what you mean." He laughed awkwardly.

Daiyu shook her head.

"Zhihao-gege is a bad liar. Daiyu knows. Daiyu knows that Zhihao-gege is hiding something!"

Why was she so sharp today?!

"Tell Daiyu." She cupped his face with her little hands and began stretching his cheeks.

"What is Zhihao-gege hiding?"

Zhihao kept his mouth shut, praying that Liu Jin would hurry up and come save him.

"Zhihao-gege! Tell Daiyuuuuu!"

Zhihao closed his eyes, unable to look back at Daiyu's accusing eyes.

Daiyu pouted. She then bit down on his shoulder with a strong chomp!

"OUCH!!!"

"Tell Daiyu!" She frowned, her eyebrows furrowed and her chubby cheeks puffed.

"Your Jin-gege is hiding something, not me!!!"

"Zhihao-gege is helping Jin-gege! Daiyu knows! Now tell Daiyu!!!" She bit him again.

"OUCCCCHH!!!"

Why was her jaw strength so strong?!

"Fine! Fine! Stop eating me!!!"

"Tell Daiyu!"

"Your evil witch has arrived!"

Daiyu's eyes immediately sparkled.

"Where?"

"I don't know!"

"Liar!" She then motioned to bite him again but he stopped her.

"I swear! I don't know! We're trying to find out!"

Daiyu paused, sensing the sincerity in his tone.

"Owkay. Daiyu believes." She then nodded.

Zhihao let out a sigh of relief.

"Now tell Daiyu what Jin-gege is hiding."

Zhihao looked at her, his back intensely sweating as he faced the menacing chubby girl in front of him.

"Tell Daiyu." She commanded, her chubby cheeks shadowing down on him.

He gulped.

'Jin. Hurry up and save me!!!'
