Liu Jin silently sat in the common study of the Wang Mansion, doing his homework. Daiyu trotted over to him and crawled onto his lap.

"Jin-gege." She called.

"Mmm?" Liu Jin put his pen down and faced her.

"Jin-gege, Daiyu wants Daiyu wants a baby too." She looked up to him with big puppy eyes.

Liu Jin blushed.

"X-Xiao Yu I'll I'll work hard to give you as many babies as you wan-OUCH!"

Zhihao had slapped the back of his head.

"Hey!" Liu Jin gritted his teeth.

"Xiao Yu, you can't have a baby yet. You're still too young." Zhihao immediately rejected her.

"Why?" She pouted.

"You're still too small. Your body has to grow bigger so that the baby has room to grow. See, Xiao Yu's tummy is still small. You've seen Aunt Nana right? Her tummy can grow reaaaaaal big."

Daiyu paused.

"Daiyu will Daiyu will eat more! Then Daiyu's tummy will grow too!"

The boys chuckled.

"That's not all it takes, Xiao Yu. You need to be able to take care of the baby too."

"Daiyu will take care of the baby well! Daiyu pwomises!"

"Really? Then who's going to take care of the baby whenever you're at school?"

Daiyu paused.

"U-Uncle Tang!"

The boys chuckled.

"See, Xiao Yu. It means you can't take care of the baby alone yet. You're still too young." Zhihao gently patted her head.

She pouted and looked down.

"But Daiyu wants a baby too"

"When we grow up, I'll give you as many babies as you want." Liu Jin solemnly stated.

"R-really?"

"Mmm. We can try as early as the eve of your eighteenth birthd

"OKAY! Enough!" Zhihao shoved Liu Jin's head away and turn to face Daiyu.

"Xiao Yu, you can't have a baby right now but we can get you something else."

"Something else?" She tilted her head to one side.

"Mmm! A pet!"

After asking permission from Wang Jing, the three children along with the old man and Butler Tang proceeded to the animal shelter to adopt a pet for Daiyu.

Wang Jing didn't actually like the idea of keeping a pet. After all, with how young Daiyu was, it was easy to get into accidents.

"Then then can Daiyu have a baby instead?" She tilted her head to one side as she looked up to her grandfather.

" Let's go get a pet for you, Xiao Yu. We'll get as many pets as you want." Wang Jing immediately changed his mind. After all, when compared to a baby, a pet was a very good idea.

As such, right now, they were inside the Wang family car, ready to pick up Daiyu's first pet.

"Have you thought about what you want, Xiao Yu?" Zhihao asked and Daiyu nodded.

"A doggie!"

"That's a good choice." Liu Jin smiled. A loyal pet dog can help guard Daiyu too.

After a few more minutes in the car, they finally arrived at the shelter.

Upon arriving at the aisle of dog cages, Daiyu immediately spotted the dog she wanted to adopt. Her eyes sparkled and a wide smile bloomed on her face.

"That one! Daiyu wants that one!" She pointed.

Upon seeing the dog, both Liu Jin and Zhihao were left speechless.

"Uh" Liu Jin didn't know how to react.

"Hahaha you're not serious, right?" Zhihao nervously laughed.

"Daiyu wants this doggie. Daiyu will take of you baby doggie!" She excitedly ran towards its cage and both boys immediately caught her to stop her.

The dog, upon seeing Daiyu run towards it, stood up and growled.

" Yeah let's just choose another one. Okay, Xiao Yu?"

"Why?"

"Why? This one will grow to become twice no thrice your size!!!" Zhihao panicked.

"But its cute!"

"What part of it is cute?!"

"This part!" Daiyu pointed towards its ears.

Liu Jin sighed.

"Xiao Yu, you can't have that one. Why not just choose another one? How bout this? This one will stay this small forever." He pointed towards a Pomeranian.

"But Daiyu wants this baby!" She continued eyeing the dog with loving eyes.

" Xiao Yu, that's a Tibetan Mastiff. When it grows into an adult, it will become way bigger and heavier than you are. And I don't think your grandfather will allow you to keep it either." Liu Jin explained.

"But Daiyu wants to bring this one home. It looks it looks very lonely." She pouted.

"What an observant girl." The staff who came along with them gently patted Daiyu's head.

"What do you mean?" Liu Jin asked.

"This one's actually all alone now. His mother died in the wild, along with all its siblings."

" In the wild?" Zhihao raised an eyebrow."

The staff nodded.

"You see, a few years back, this breed became really popular among the rich. As such, they were bred in large numbers and sold to the wealthy. However, when the fad died down, they became unwanted dogs. Some were lucky enough to be left in shelters. His mother, however, like many of its kind, was dumped in the wild. There, they were hunted for sport. The mother died and none of its siblings survived. This one was lucky enough to be found before it became game."

" Will it become aggressive?" Liu Jin asked.

"All dogs can become aggressive. It's a matter of not only personality but upbringing as well. Just like children." She explained.

Liu Jin paused, taking in her words.

"But I can see why you boys are reluctant to have her take it home. After all, its a large breed and its very powerful." She continued.

"Daiyu will Daiyu will love this baby doggie! Daiyu pwomises!" She looked at the woman sincerely.

She laughed.

"I'm sure you will." She gently patted Daiyu's head and smiled.

"But you need to listen to your big brothers. They're only worried for you, after all."

Daiyu looked down and pouted.

"Can can Daiyu try?"

"Mmm?"

"Can Daiyu try to pet the doggie?"

"Uh"

"Xiao Yu, it might bite you." Liu Jin explained.

"How about I help you? We'll try to get it used to you first and we'll approach it slowly, okay?" The staff suggested.

Daiyu nodded her head vigorously.

Liu Jin and Zhihao hesitated but eventually relented. As such, Daiyu and the staff slowly approached the dog.

"Its owkay baby doggie. Daiyu won't Daiyu won't hurt you." She coaxed the dog but it kept growling.

"Are you scared? Its owkay. Daiyu won't eat you." She tried reaching for its head but it barked at her.

"Do you want Daiyu to sing for you?" She tilted her head to one side and the dog paused its barking.

"Grandpaw says that Daiyu can sing very well!" She tried convincing it and the boys chuckled.

She then wriggled out of the staff's arms and began singing for the dog.

Wang Jing, who came to check up on them, had heard Daiyu's song. He lowered his head and silently wiped away a tear that had fallen unconsciously.

Zhihao, on the other hand, could not stop his ugly crying.

"X-Xiao Yu Xiao Yu is so pwecious." He said in between sniffs and sobs.

Butler Tang, who stood beside Wang Jing, came in and carried Zhihao before gently rubbing his back to stop the little boy's tears.

Daiyu continued staring at the dog with a gentle smile. Soon, the pup approached her, sniffing her before gently licking her hand.

"Good baby!" She giggled.

The dog then obediently let her pat its head to her heart's content.

"Xiao Yu."

"Grandpaw!" Daiyu excitedly greeted him.

"Look grandpaw! This baby doggie is so cute!" She giggled and hugged it, resting her head on its head.

Wang Jing sighed. The dog was still a puppy but even now it was already quite large. Plus, it's black fur with brown undertones made it look more like a bear than a dog.

"Are you sure you want that one, Xiao Yu?"

Daiyu nodded and looked at the puppy in the eye.

"Daiyu will love this baby doggie and and take care of it well." She promised.

"Alright." Wang Jing relented.

If a bear-puppy was what it took to make Daiyu happy, then so be it.

After taking care of the papers, Daiyu took the dog home and decided to name it Nao Nao.

"Nao Nao, this is your new home now. Don't worry! Uncle Tang is very nice and and grandpaw is also very nice." She patted its head.

"You can use this as your house first." Daiyu led it towards her playhouse.

The playhouse was styled like a Victorian castle with white walls and a pink roof. It did not match the dog's rough style at all. Still, it obediently entered the playhouse with Daiyu.

"When when Nao Nao has been twained, grandpaw said that Nao Nao can sleep with Daiyu! So - So Nao Nao has to work hard, okay?"

The dog barked once.

She giggled.

"Nao Nao fighting!"
