I'll Tell You Every Day

The moment Butler Tang heard from Liu Jin and Zhihao, he immediately phoned Wang Jing. The old man in turn investigated the matter quickly and soon, their suspicions were confirmed.

Upon analyzing the CCTV footages around the park, they noticed a man following the children all throughout their visit. They checked on his profile and they found out that he was a truck driver affiliated with the company hired to do the park's renovations.

Wang Jing quickly sent his men to check on the man's address. However, it appears that they were a moment too late. Upon arriving at the man's house, they found him decapitated his head dumped a mile away from his home.

They searched around the area, trying to find a lead to the mastermind. However, all they found was a CCTV footage taken near the highway showing four masked men using a getaway car without a license plate.

Without further leads, Wang Jing was again at a dead end.

After that incident, a lot of things had changed.

Over at Qiaoling's side, she decided to lay low for the moment. After all, she knew that with her recent failed attempt, not only was Wang Jing hot on her trails, even the Zhengs were investigating the matter thoroughly.

After Xiulan was thrown out of the Wang Mansion, Qiaoling had applied as a Cui Cheng's secretary. While her credentials did not meet the company's requirements, she slept her way to gain the job. Finally, after three months beside the man, she had successfully captured Cui Cheng's attention.

With the loss of his wife, Cui Cheng was lonely and easily sought comfort in the arms of other women. Taking advantage of this, Qiaoling managed to turn him into her sugar daddy. He sent her a huge sum of money every month as allowance, but she was still just that a body to warm his bed during lonely nights.

While she was not satisfied with her current position, she was still grateful for the money he sent her every month. As such, she decided to take things slow, making sure to worm her way into his heart. As long as the position of Madam Cui remained empty, she knew she still had a chance.

Meanwhile, Xiulan was likewise quiet. With the loss of Qian Ru, she had no one left inside the Wang Mansion to work for her. Besides, there was little she could do as an eight-year-old. As such, for now, her priority was to lay low and stay on her mother's good side. While Qiaoling was busy and hadn't threatened her recently, she remained vigilant. After all, the past was not something she wanted to revisit.

Over at the Wang Mansion, things were changing too. Shuren and Nana had returned to the Liu Estate but Wang Jing had asked Liu Jin to stay with Daiyu for now, at least, until her trauma subsides. He likewise hired bodyguards to watch over her, making sure that she was safe not only inside but also outside the Wang Mansion.

"Hey, have you noticed that our bodies are affecting us?"

"Huh? What do you mean?" Zhihao turned to face Liu Jin who was currently hugging Daiyu.

As usual, Daiyu sat on his lap while she drew. Liu Jin hugged her from behind, resting his head on her shoulders.

"I feel like I'm a real kid." Liu Jin confessed.

" You mean how we're much grumpier, our attention spans shorter, and how we cry easily?"

"Exactly."

"Huh. Guess personality isn't all in the head after all."

Liu Jin nodded.

"Well, I don't mind. Doesn't it make things more authentic?" Zhihao commented.

Liu Jin raised a brow.

"What do you mean?" He asked.

"You know, feels like we're really children again. I guess we ought to change our perspective. Maybe instead of thinking that we're adults in children's bodies, we can look at ourselves as children with more mature minds. We'd be missing out on our childhood if we limit ourselves with the constraints of adulthood. You know, things like thinking about how we need to achieve our goals faster, or how we punish ourselves for making mistakes with the thought that we should have known better. We're lucky to be given this second chance. Might as well take it slow and live it to the fullest."

"Wow. I didn't know you could be so profound."

"Hey! I have my moments too!" Zhihao gritted his teeth.

Liu Jin paused and digested his words.

Zhihao was right. For the past few days he had been tormenting himself over Daiyu's failed kidnapping incident. He blamed himself for being weak, for letting her out of his sight, for almost losing her again.

It had stumped him, made him question why he decided to restart his life when he was repeating his past mistakes. Was fate really something he could change? He started doubting that thought with fear gripping his heart.

But Zhihao's words had surprisingly enlightened him.

The boy was right. The fact that he could hug Daiyu right now meant that he had already changed his fate. He just had to work harder without losing sight of his real purpose. He had to constantly remind himself that his goal was to enjoy his second life with Daiyu not to live a perfect life but to live a happy life with her.

He smiled and kissed Daiyu's chubby cheek.

Daiyu turned her head to face Liu Jin and smiled innocently.

"Xiao Yu, are you happy?"

Daiyu nodded.

"That's good" He kissed her forehead. She giggled.

Lately, her Jin-gege followed her around all the time.

Like a security guard! Her eyes sparkled.

"Mmm?" Liu Jin noticed her change in expression.

"Jin-gege! Do you want to become a security guard when you grow up?"

Liu Jin frowned. She STILL hasn't forgotten that?

"What makes you think that?" Liu Jin asked.

"Because Jin-gege always follows Daiyu around."

"He's a stalker. That's what a stalker does. Follows you around and takes pictures." Zhihao commented from the back.

A vein twitched on Liu Jin's head but he decided to ignore Zhihao.

" Does Xiao Yu hate it when I follow you?" He pouted.

She shook her head.

"Daiyu likes it. Daiyu loves being with Jin-gege." She replied.

"Hehe." Liu Jin giggled.

He liked the way they were right now. Still, he knew that things had to change.

Recently, Wang Jing had been investigating Qiaoling. With the recent kidnapping incident, of course the old man would suspect her. In the private investigator's report, Qiaoling's relationship with Cui Cheng came up and it worried Liu Jin. With money, he knew that Qiaoling's options became wider.

With the enemy leveling up like this, he knew he had to power up too. That was why he approached General Shen and asked the old man if he could train him. Of course, his grandfather was more than willing to take him in. In fact, he was so proud that his grandson had the initiative to approach him. As such, General Shen proposed for him to switch schools.

However, he had to decline. He didn't want to leave while Daiyu was still this small.

'W-what if she forgets me?' He panicked at the thought.

That was why he decided to leave during junior high. It was going to be a short three-year training and he'll be back for senior high right on time for the boss battle. For now, he was going to satisfy himself with training every weekend.

He looked at Daiyu and hugged her tightly.

"Xiao Yu, you can't forget me!"

Daiyu looked at her Jin-gege, confused. What does he mean?

"Daiyu won't forget. Won't forget." She patted his head with her little hand, trying to comfort him.

After spending more carefree days together, it was finally time for Daiyu to start primary school.

"Xiao Yu, look over here!" Liu Jin called her attention as he held onto his camera.

Daiyu was wearing her school uniform. She wore a white blouse paired with a navy blue pleated skirt and her hair was tied up in a high ponytail. She carried around a white bunny backpack and she had black shiny doll shoes on.

She smiled happily at her Jin-gege. She was very excited! From now on, she no longer had to wait at home. She could go to school with her Jin-gege!

After taking several solo shots of Daiyu, Liu Jin took photos of her with Wang Jing, Butler Tang, Xiao Nuan and Xiao Ning, before they had a couple shot taken as well.

"Hehe." He giggled inwardly. He was going to print a large version of this!

"What a creep."

Liu Jin's eye twitched upon hearing the familiar annoying voice.

"Shut up!"

"Hey! Hey! Take a picture of me and Xiao Yu next!" Zhihao excitedly exclaimed.

"Xiao Yu, let's go." He held out his hand and Daiyu took it excitedly.

"Hey! My picture!"

"Buhbye grandpaw!" She waved her grandfather goodbye.

"Wait! My picture!!!"

Wang Jing smiled and kissed her forehead goodbye before they boarded the car.
