Zhou Yu'an passed behind closed doors, and the FASTER project team, under the leadership of Shen Qi, used their lives to unite as one.

Metal plastics were first discovered and successfully prepared by the Institute of Physics of the Academy of Sciences. Shen Qi obtained the key information at that time from Director Zhan of the Academy of Sciences.

According to the data, the team of the Institute of Physics did not have a mature theoretical basis at that time. They kept doing experiments and finally made an amorphous metal plastic whose main component was cerium-aluminum-copper in one experiment.

The earliest products are the most creative, but not necessarily the best. Shen Qi's current work is equivalent to improvement, and he has a set of self-created theoretical basis.

"According to the definition of Shen Qi No. 4, I think it is a good choice to choose the metal elements germanium, tin, and lead among the carbon group elements and dope them into the cerium-aluminum-copper amorphous system." Shen Qi put forward his own idea.

In the book "Structural Review of Condensed Matter Physics", the author Shen Qi innovatively proposed a universal theoretical principle, a basic rule of phase transition, a basic mathematical physics equation and a definitional description of microstructure.

In order to facilitate the use in daily work, the above theories are called Shenqi No. 1 Principle, Shenqi No. 2 Rule, Shenqi No. 3 Equation, and Shenqi No. 4 Definition in the physics community.

Among them, the Shenqi No. 2 rule and the Shenqi No. 3 equation have been widely recognized by the physics community and written into the textbooks, namely the Shenqi phase transition rule and the Shenqi equation.

The principles of Shen Qi No. 1 and the definition of Shen Qi No. 4 are still being verified internationally, and have not yet become a standard theoretical basis.

Although the outside world has not fully recognized the Shen Qi No. 1 principle and the Shen Qi No. 4 definition, the FASTER project team took the lead in recognizing these two condensed matter physics theories.

Theory without practice is empty, and practice without theory is blind.

This female researcher, also surnamed Shen, is a doctoral student. The project she followed was forced to stop due to problems with her supervisor. She did not have a project to do, and she would not be able to graduate without a project. So Shen Jinbao came to Shen Qi’s FASTER Project Team.

Shen Qi couldn't change the established scientific research plan because of a woman's intuition, so he directed the researchers to prepare a test sample code-named A1.

According to a certain proportion of ingredients, the project team successfully produced the A1 sample through a series of complex experimental operations such as alloy melting, mother ingot crushing, electromagnetic induction heating, high-purity argon protection melting, quenching and stripping, and arc heating.

The sample is a small metal ball with a silver-gray metallic luster on the surface and a diameter of 7 mm.

After obtaining the A1 sample, in order to confirm whether the amorphous phase was formed, the project team used an X-ray instrument to test.

Special pipes are installed in the laboratory for the discharge and recovery of radioactive substances and harmful steam substances to ensure the safety and health of the laboratory environment and experimenters.

Shen Qi and the others were fully armed and put on all protective equipment, and tested the A1 sample.

XRD results showed that the A1 sample formed a typical amorphous phase.

The first metal-plastic sample of the FASTER project was successfully prepared. Everyone is very happy. Under the leadership of Academician Shen, the progress is very smooth.

The main component of the A1 sample is amorphous cerium-aluminum-copper doped with a certain amount of germanium.

The specific proportion of the ingredients must be kept secret, which is equivalent to the formula, which is the thing with scientific value, and it is also the thing with value.

The A1 sample has high strength at room temperature and has all the excellent properties of metals.

If it is just to synthesize a metal lump with complex composition, it does not need a team of academicians to complete it, blacksmiths can do it.

Metal-plastics are unique in that when heated, they enter a new state, a supercooled liquid state.

The transition from an amorphous state to a supercooled liquid is commonly known as the glass transition.

Glass is a material that people are very familiar with. When heated to a certain temperature, the glass begins to soften, showing viscous fluid properties, and can be deformed at will.

But glass is very fragile at room temperature, and amorphous alloys are equivalent to metals at room temperature.

Tg in physics is usually used to describe the softening point of glass, and Tg is also used to describe the softening point of metal plastics.

Tested by Shen Qi's team, the Tg of the A1 sample is 78 degrees Celsius.

That is to say, when heated to 78 degrees, the A1 sample began to soften, and it changed from metal to "plastic".

Shen Qi’s team performed stretching, compression, bending, embossing and other plastic deformation operations on the A1 sample, the metal ball, in boiling water. They embossed RMB coin patterns of one dime, fifty cents, and one yuan.

Minting coins is illegal, of course Shen Qi and the others know it.

The FASTER project team made not real coins, the imprints were smaller in diameter than real coins, and the pattern was exactly the same.

Shen Qi and the others used scientific knowledge to successfully print a miniature version of the full set of RMB coins in 78-degree boiling water using A1 metal and plastic samples as materials.

This makes a lot of sense because it means that metal products of any shape can be made in boiling water with low processing costs.

The researchers clapped hands and celebrated that the project had made significant progress.

What is the commercial significance of the promotion of A1 samples to reality?

According to the current experimental results, the A1 sample can be applied to the processing and manufacturing of auto parts.

This metal-plastic is lighter than traditional automotive steel plates and can be used to replace some automotive metal parts.

Automobile lightweight has always been an important research topic in the automotive industry. Whether it is an oil-burning, recharging or hydrogen fuel cell vehicle, the reduction in vehicle quality means that energy consumption is reduced, which has a positive effect on environmental protection.

The processing cost of metal and plastic is extremely low. In the future, there is no need for any stamping machine to process metal parts of automobiles. Just soak them in boiling water and tear them apart.

The reduction in manufacturing costs means that the price of cars is getting cheaper and cheaper. Of course, this is another story. How much a car will sell for in the future is not something that Shen Qi and the others worry about.
