"Why the hell did the boss kidnap someone and call for a ransom? It doesn't make any sense!" One of the guards complained.

The guy beside him smacked the back of his head. "Quiet! Someone might hear you!"

The other guy rubbed the part which was and said, "At least he could have let us have a taste."

Before they could continue talking I knocked them out cold. I dragged them back to the entrance and used their laces to tie their hands up. I also used their socks to cover their mouths.

I was already halfway inside the hideout. The hideout was well constructed that it has only one way in. But I'm sure that the guy who plotted this has his secret escape door.

"Where are you Ji-Eun-ah?" I asked out loud.

I made my way in and started looking for Ji-Eun. On my way, I encountered some guards and started knocking them out one by one. Fortunately, I was able to do so discreetly and the people none of these guards were able to report to their higher ups that I was there.

This place was big. It took me almost 30 minutes just finding the right door. I also screwed up a couple of times that I had to fight it out with some of the guards. Got injured along the way as well.

What about my guns you say?

If I shoot it, they'll know that I'm here, so I'll only use it as a last resort.

What about my knife?

I don't want to kill anybody to be honest. Only if I have to. I've never killed anybody in this life or even the previous one. That's why I'll only use my weapons if it's necessary.

I've checked out every room and every door that I could find in this place but there was still no sign of Ji-Eun anywhere. I've already sustained some injuries and my wound started opening up again. It's starting to make me go weak.

I started walking around to check if I missed a door and at the end of one of the halls was a double door.

Of course…

This is so cliché…

I sighed and slowly peeked through the door to see if anyone was inside. There I saw Ji-Eun almost half n.a.k.e.d and was hanged on chains. I don't know what came over me that I suddenly rushed inside to help her.

Because of my impulsiveness I didn't check my surroundings. I was hit at the back by a metal object and I couldn't breathe. I crawled towards Ji-Eun while trying my best get some air. I couldn't think straight.

Then I remembered that I had a gun. I pulled it out and pointed the gun at the guy who hit me. But he was quick. He suddenly swung his pipe at my hand making the gun flung to the side. He then swung the pipe again and hit me on the head.

I was about to pass out but I forced myself to stand while pulling my other gun. I started firing at him but I missed all of my shots since I was still nauseated from the blow to the head. I just shot at him so I could force him to take some cover while I try get Ji-Eun of those chains.

Knowing that I only had one shot left, the moment that my dizziness stopped, I shot one of the chains that was holding Ji-Eun up and it broke. The guy didn't let this opportunity pass and charged right at me.

I hastily changed the gun's ammo. I was able to grab one ammo for the hand gun because I was in a hurry. As soon as he saw me reload the gun, he immediately retreated back to the shadows.

Why do bad guys, love warehouse-type hideouts?

Every time he would reveal himself even a little bit, I would shoot him. I was wasting the last of my ammo. When I saw that there was no movement yet. I turn my gun the only chain that was holding Ji-Eun and shot it. She fell down on the floor and I walked towards her while pointing my gun back at the shadows where the guy was.

"Ji-Eun-ah. Let's go." I whispered to her.

Somehow, she wasn't responding.

"Oh she's not leaving here in that condition." The guy spoke from where he was hiding.

"Who the hell are you?! What did you do to her?!" I yelled.

He laughed maniacally. "Now, now, JayB-ssi. You should start asking one question at a time."

I placed Ji-Eun's arm over me as I slowly lifted her up. I barely have enough strength left to stand up. Blood was pouring out of my arm and my skull.

I'm slowly bleeding out.

"Jay… B… ah…" She muttered weakly.

"Shh… it's okay now, Ji-Eun-ah." I comforted her.

I noticed that she was not responding that well and was like a vegetable.

The guy then laughed. "Like I said, she's not leaving in her current condition."

"What the hell did you do?!" I shouted.

"Well… I gave her something that would make her muscles go numb. Let's just say she's… high right now." The guy responded.

I balled my fists in anger. "You drugged her?!"

The guy laughed again. "Of course! How would she be able to bear the pain maybe… p.l.e.a.s.u.r.e?"

"Who the hell are you?!" I asked.

"You're finally asking the right questions, Kim Jinbo." He said as he stepped out into the light to reveal himself.

"You!" Without any hesitation, I immediately pointed my gun at him and pulled the trigger.

To my horror, the gun didn't fire. I already ran out of bullets.

"Not counting I see? That's your mistake!" He said as he charged at me with his pipe.

I didn't know what else to do so I hugged Ji-Eun and used my back to shield her from the blow. As soon as I felt the impact, I also felt something broke.

Crap…

I dropped Ji-Eun because I suddenly lost my strength but before I hit the ground, I kicked the guy which gave me a chance to distance myself and pull out my knife.

"Choiza you bastard! I should have finished you back then when I had the chance!" I angrily said.

He gave me a smirk. "You should have."

I then charged at him and started dodging the pipe. I was able to cut him a couple of times but it wasn't deep enough. My body was starting to wear out and I could feel it. It was starting to grow weaker and weaker every second, and my movements were starting to get sluggish.

The pipe hit me on the arm where my wound was and I fell down from the pain. My vision was starting to grow blurry. He started beating me up senseless and I felt every blow was killing me slowly.

All this time, he was laughing at me as if he was enjoying this.

"Why… are you doing this?" I tried to ask with whatever little strength I had left.

He chuckled. "Why? Isn't it obvious? You took something away from me and now, I'm taking something from you."

He then kicked the side of my head which almost made me pass out.

I chuckled. "Sulli-noona? She was never yours in the first place. It was all… in your head."

"Shut up!" He said as he slammed his pipe on my back which made me fall down.

He then grabbed my hair forced he made me lean on a pillar.

"Watch how I would have fun with her." He laughed again as he started approaching Ji-Eun.

"You son of a bitch!" I yelled as I tried to stand up.

My injuries were taking its toll on me so I was having a hard time getting up. Every time I try to stand up my body would ache and it would make me dizzy. I guess I'm losing blood rapidly.

"Now, now, JayB-ssi. It's not my fault we came to this point. I DID warn you after all." Choiza sarcastically said as he dragged the steel pipe that he was holding across the ground.

It was making such a creepy sound.

"Let her go you bastard!" I yelled as I charged at him.

He swung his pipe and hit me on the shoulder. I couldn't see straight and my body was getting weaker so I was having a hard time dodging his attacks.

"You see, JayB-ssi. You need to choose whether you call me a bastard or a son of a bitch. I can't be both." He sarcastically said.

I struggled to get up using my arms but he kicked my stomach which made me roll a few meters away from him.

"JayB-ah…" Ji-Eun weakly called out.

"Ji-Eun… Ji-Eun-ah. Stay right there. I'll get you out." I assured her.

Choiza laughed again. "You're not supposed to give promises that you can't keep, JayB-ssi."

I couldn't take this guy's talking anymore. "Shut up you bastard! If I knew it was you, I would have done everything I can to hunt you!"

"But you didn't, did you?" He interjected.

I remained silent.

"That was got you to here, JayB-ssi. And now…" He said as he turned to Ji-Eun with the pipe that he was holding.

"You are going to watch your precious girlfriend die." He said before charging at Ji-Eun with the pipe.

When I saw this, my blood boiled and forced myself to stand up and ran after him but I fell down again.

All I could do was yell. "Ji-Eun-ah! NO!!"

I watched as the pipe was raised and was now heading towards Ji-Eun's head. It was as if everything was in slow motion. The pipe was nearing her head and I could feel my pulse beating hard from the anger and fear that I was feeling. I watched as I waited for my girlfriend's head to be smashed.

Suddenly…

I heard two gunshots sounds.

Before I knew it, Choiza hit the ground and Ji- Eun was still on the ground with her skull intact. I saw lights coming out of the door that I entered and there were people who rushed in immediately.

Someone tended to Ji-Eun immediately and someone went to me and hugged me as well. I was still in shock from what happened so I was pretty much still processing things.

It was when I heard a familiar voice which snapped me back to reality.

"It's okay now, JayB-ah. You're safe." Matt-hyung said.

"Hyung…" I said as tears fell down my face before I passed out.

I slowly opened my eyes and I could feel my head still pounding.

"Wh... where am I?" I muttered.

My voice barely came out of my mouth.

"Oh my God! Hyung!" I heard Zee's voice as he started running towards the door as he stumbled down.

He went to get the nurses and doctors to check on me. They soon went back in hurry with all the medical instruments to check me. They didn't say anything and just checked my status. The doctor said that he'll run some tests this afternoon to see if I'm okay internally.

Zee then entered the room and hugged me as he cried.

"They told us that they weren't sure if you'd wake up." Zee said in between his sobs.

He then told me that after we rescued IU, I passed out and almost died from all my injuries and blood loss. I also had a few broken ribs which penetrated my lung. Dominic-hyung did his best to operate on you. Seiji-hyung didn't want to give me the serum because it might cause more harm. So they had to wait and see if I was getting better. That's when Seiji-hyung worked on some medicine to help me with the normal healing process. But even Dominic-hyung couldn't say when I would wake up.

"How long was I out?" I asked him.

He then turned his gaze away from me. "You were out for almost a month."

A month…

Gosh…

"What did you tell the press?" I asked.

"That you were recovering from a hamstring pull from practice." He replied.

Guess that settles that.

Then I remembered something which made me ask Zee frantically. "Where's Ji-Eun-ah?! How is she?! Is she okay?!"

"Way okay than you, hyung. She woke up after the drug was flushed out of her system. It turns out that it was heroine that they injected her with. There were traces of Valium as well which numbed her system." Zee replied.

Those bastards!

"Where is she right now?" I asked calmly this time.

"Umm… I was told that you have to ask PD-nim on that one if you wake up." He nervously replied.

I gritted my teeth. "Zee-ya… tell me where she is…"

He then sighed. "I don't care how angry you are. I already called PD-nim about you waking up so he'll be here to tell you about the details."

After he said that, he left the room to cool off as well. I could tell that he was very angry at me right now.

I guess I have to wait for PD-nim.

"I don't care about that! Why the hell would you do it without my consent?!" I angrily yelled.

PD-nim was here in my room in the hospital as we were discussing what to do moving forward. He also told me that he already told Ji-Eun about the deal that PD-nim made with me. That means that Ji-Eun and I are not in a relationship anymore. Ji-Eun didn't take it well because I made the deal behind her back.

"Even if I just told her the deal and gave her the choice to either break up with you or don't, I know she'd choose to break up with you still." PD-nim said.

"We don't know that!" I interjected.

"Oh yeah? What makes you so sure about that?" PD-nim asked.

I scoffed. "We love each other of course!"

"Stop talking like a child and think about it clearly!" PD-nim yelled.

"Don't make me pull my shares from this company." I threatened him.

PD-nim laughed sarcastically. "Really? You do know you own most of the shares in this company right? If you pull that out, this company will go bankrupt. Are you willing to let the people in this company be jobless? Are you willing to destroy the lives of the people that worked so hard? INCLUDING Ji-Eun-ah?"

I kept a straight face. "Just let me talk to her. I'll prove to you that she'll want me back."

He then handed me his phone. "Fine! Wanna bet? Call her now."

I snatched the phone from him and pressed call on her number. The call then connected.

"Hello, PD-nim. What is it?" It was good to hear her voice over the phone.

"Ji-Eun-ah! It's me, JayB!" I excitedly told her.

She didn't respond but kept quiet.

I got worried. "Why aren't you saying anything? Aren't you glad that I woke up?"

She sighed. "Didn't PD-nim tell you already? You got what you wanted. We're done JayB-ssi."

JayB-ssi?

No no no…

"Don't be like that, Ji-Eun-ah. Hmm? I only said that knowing that I could protect you." I told her.

"But you couldn't, could you? And how many more 'Choizas' are going to come after this?" Ji-Eun said.

I stayed silent listening to her words that sounded so true.

She's right.

Who knows if who'll come knocking on our lives again and end up destroying it? Can I really protect her then?

"So this is it? We're just going to end it just like that?" I asked.

"We live in different worlds, JayB-ssi. For now, let's focus on our careers and move on. Besides, you didn't really love me as much as you love HER." She said.

"What are you talking about? Ji-Eun-i. It's you that I love." I replied.

She chuckled. "I saw the way you keep on looking at that trainee girl. From our preparation for KBS Specials, to the rehearsals, to the performance itself, and even when we were judging the new trainees in SIXTEEN. I saw how you look at her. You felt happy… and sad at the same time. It was pure love… And you never once looked at me that way. And I understand. Okay? Let's just be friends from now on JayB-ah. Hmm? Stop lying to yourself and just go to her. You at least have to give yourself a shot in this life that you have. Okay?"

My eyes went wide. "How did you…"

"It takes one to know one." She replied.

"When did you?" I asked.

She giggled. "When I was kidnapped."

"I see." I replied.

"Now do you understand?" She asked.

"I understand." I replied.

She sighed. "She really loved you, you know."

I started to tear up. "I did too."

"I know. Sorry for being harsh on you earlier. Who knows? We might really end up together in this life." She said.

I chuckled. "Probably not."

"Can I ask you something though?" She asked.

"Sure." I replied.

"Who were you?" She asked.

I laughed. "Let's just say I had a different name and was a famous producer that worked a lot with you.

She suddenly laughed so hard. "You're HIM? No wonder all the songs sounded so legit. I see."

"Are you going to tell?" I asked.

"Of course not! Use whatever song you want. Just don't give my songs to anyone. Okay?" She replied.

"Got it." I replied.

She sighed. "Let's give each other a chance to be happy in this life. Okay?"

I smiled with tears in my eyes. "Alright."

She then said, "By the way, JayB-ah. You should date her! You were really into her back then!"

I laughed which made PD-nim really curious. "I will soon."

She giggled. "So friends?"

"The best.... See you around... noona." I replied.
