Chapter 19.1: Unintentional Show-Off (I/II)

This time, the teacher did not have any exaggerated reaction. Although he was astonished, he remained silent, returned to the podium, and resumed his monitoring duties. His face had a somewhat bewildered expression, clearly shocked.

As soon as the teacher left, Ji Yu no longer twirls the pen in his hand, but laid it down flat on the desk and obediently waited for the exam to end.

It wasn’t that he had deliberately tried to act all pretentious, but just that his brain really was tired.  1

The test itself was actually very difficult.

The test did not felt like it was geared towards all of the students in general. On the contrary, it felt like a difficult trial designed specifically to filter out the cream of the crop among the graduating seniors. There were even questions that exceeded the level of the school’s curriculum.

If it wasn’t for Ji Yu’s participation in various mathematical competitions since a young age, including the International Mathematical Olympiad, there would be no way he could answer those hellish questions. At that time, he would definitely lose the bet to He Zhou for sure.

Ji Yu rested his head on his arms, closed his eyes, and let out a long sigh of relief.

This action fell onto the eyes of the teacher and the surrounding students, all of whom were dumbfounded by a sense of absolute arrogance.

Only He Zhou’s ears moved, and he caught the low sigh.

He glanced at Ji Yu from the corner of his eyes, and saw, exposed underneath the folding arms, a pair of open lips, like a fish thirsting for air. 2

Those lips were light pink and looked very soft.

“Cough cough!” The teacher let out a heavy cough.

He Zhou blinked. He retracted his gaze that had strayed who-knows-when, and returned his attention to the last question on the test.

---

“Ding—!”

The bell rang, and the test was over.

Ji Yu raised his head from his arms, and rubbed his eyes.

The messy hair on his forehead was pushed up by his arms, and there were red creases at the end of his eyes and cheeks. It’s obvious that Ji Yu had just woken up.

From afar, the monitoring teacher, whose blood pressure was rapidly rising, is most anxious to return to the head office and immediately discuss today’s matters with the other teachers.

This was the most arrogant student he had ever seen in all his years teaching at Long Cheng No. 1 High!

The absolute most! 3

Ji Yu rubbed his face, a little embarrassed.

At that time, the exam room was too quiet, and there was only fresh scent of paper. He had just wanted to lay on his stomach and close his eyes for a short break. Who knew that this action would unknowingly be considered as “showing off” to everyone else in the room.

How very embarrassing.

However, more than just embarrassment, this exam has made Ji Yu famous within the entire school.

On the campus forum, in addition to the posts questioning whether Ji Yu cheated or not, there were also posts from Alpha bigshots analyzing how Ji Yu manages to get so powerful and counterattacked. A small number of fans even popped up, saying how Ji Yu’s behavior of sleeping in the exam room was simply an explosion of Alpha-ness, a real awakening!  \( ゚ヮ゚)/  4

By the end of the three-day testing period, the comments on the forum have been largely divided into several groups. Some criticized Ji Yu for cheating, some praised him for being awesome, and some even theorized that the test questions were leaked beforehand. In the end, every kind of speculations were being discussed.

However, no matter what kind of topics were discussed, the main focus was always centered around one person: Ji Yu.

Ji Yu became the hottest thing in Long Cheng No. 1 High.

“Why haven’t the results come out yet? Usually, all the results are announced by the afternoon of the fourth day at the latest. Today is already the fifth day, why haven’t the results been release yet?”

“Why is the result so slow, ma? What’s going on?”

“Are they looking into Ji Yu’s cheating? Or was the test really leaked, and now they have to conduct some sort of internal investigation?”

“Breaking news! Breaking news! The class leader of Class 9 went to ask her teacher about it, and her teacher told her that there were doubts about some of the test answers, so they still need to discuss the test further, and the results announcement will be delayed for a bit!”

“Fuck! Didn’t I just said that they were discussing about Ji Yu cheating!”

“Couldn’t they just watch the surveillance videos? Is it necessary to delay this long? Their efficiency is so bad. I hope they release the results before school ends today. I did well on the test this time, and I want to take it home to show my mom.”

“Who doesn’t know to look at the surveillance videos? It must be because the cheating methods are too high-level that it’s taking so long.”

---

Both on campus and online, there were endless arguing and quarrels.

However, Ji Yu, the star of the show, was currently laying on top of his desk, ignoring everything outside the classroom’s windows, and fixed his eyes on the screen of his phone…

Soon, a message arrived.

It wasn’t the same number as last time, though it was another unfamiliar number.

This number had called him twice just now, but because he didn’t know who was calling, he didn’t answer and simply waited until the person on the other end of the line hangs up.

This time, the phone didn’t ring, but a new text message came:

[Will you come back for National Day?]

Come back? Back to where?

Such a familiar tone makes it seems as though the person on the other end was a family member of the original body, however, Ji Yu doesn’t know anything about the original’s family at all. He had just contacted the private detective, and it would take at least one to two days to investigate.

Ji Yu checked the date. Today was September 22, one week before National Day.

One week should be enough to find out information about the original’s background, though he had already scheduled an operation on National Day, so…

Ji Yu replied——

[It depends]

Not too enthusiastic, but also not too cold. This reply should have no problem.

[Okay. If you do come back, tell me at least one day in advance so I can prepare.]

[Ok.]

After replying, Ji Yu copied the phone number and sent it to the private detective to find out who the number belongs to. He then slumped down on the desk again, resting.

---

Compared to the calmness of the main character who caused such chaos, inside the Teacher’s Office was anything but calm.

As soon as the exam period was over, the teachers worked overtime to quickly grade the tests. By yesterday afternoon, all the test scores had been recorded and the ranking of each class, as well as the overall ranking of the entire school, was posted into the computer system.

Usually, at this point, all that’s left is to print out the individual class ranking lists, post them on the backwall of each classroom, and issued an official announcement over the school’s PA system.

The overall ranking list of the school will be printed by the principal and posted on the school’s bulletin board.

However, this time, the process was stuck in the printing stage, as multiple teachers objected to the results.

On the overall ranking list, the first place was crowned with a name most improbable in everyone’s mind:

[First place: Ji Yu, total score: 476, elective scores: AA]

[Second place: He Zhou, total score: 473, elective scores: AA]

[3rd place: Zhao Jing, total score: 462, elective scores: AA]
