Episode 6-The Abandoned

“Is it a bow?”

“Yes, it’s a bow. There are many skills required to make a proper compound bow, but a primitive bow can be made with the current level of skill.”

Katria’s shoulders rose as if they were going to pierce the sky, probably because the skills she had passed on were recognized.

“How did you pass it on? Could people of this period be able to make bows?”

“In the first oracle, he gave me the rough shape, and in the second oracle, he corrected the trial and error. I was surprised that he made it much better than I expected.”

The primitive bow is not a very complicated weapon.

A primitive bow can be made with only a bent tree branch, tendon of an animal to use as a string, or stem of a plant.

Of course, it would take a lot of trial and error to make a weapon that worked properly, but Katria was able to assist in that trial and error, so it seemed that they were able to make a weapon that was useful enough.

“You came under me even though you had a weapon like that… Are you an idiot?”

If there was a war between the villages of Catria and Lemfra, the village of Catria would surely have won.

Having a proper ranged weapon has a powerful effect that can turn the tide of battle.

Even if Lemfra was in a divinely stronger position than Catria, it was impossible to overcome him if there was a technical gap between the followers.

“I just didn’t want to fight with anyone. If I choose the path of harmony, like you said, I’ll eventually disappear from your mythology, so I just chose to go under you. I’m the top head. He’s someone who prefers to be included under someone.”

“Then I’d understand, but no matter how much I think about it, it’s stupid. The method of just annihilating us also made sense.”

I looked at the believers with the idea that they were mysterious women.

Feint was actively using her bow that Eria showed her and learning her skills from Eria.

“That’s not it. Pull a little harder.”

Exploration was temporarily suspended, but Feint thought Eria should learn how to operate her weapon first.

If used properly, this weapon will bring stability to our village.

“That kid with paint has a decent temperament as a leader. His friend is making a fuss about witchcraft, but he immediately recognizes the usefulness of a bow and tries to actively use it, right?”

“I think the same way. He’s the right person to lead the next generation.”

If I wasn’t in the right mind, I tried to secretly kill and replace it, but that was enough to give me a passing grade.

Because the ability to accept new things was very important to a leader.

“This will count me. I’ll let you know when I get back to town later, so why don’t we start exploring again?”

“Okay.”

She returned Eria’s bow and started exploring again, but the regret did not leave Feint’s eyes looking at her bow.

The expedition walked and walked.

The reason they came out was to inform the names of their gods, so they moved constantly, looking for places where there might be traces of people.

“Here! I see traces of people!”

This was an area that the people of Lemfra had never set foot in.

In other words, the traces that appeared here meant the traces of people from other villages.

“There are certain signs of people.”

Feint, who grew up as a hunter since childhood, had the ability to distinguish between human and animal footprints by looking at only the faint traces of footprints left.

“Hear the javelin from now on, because you never know when the enemy will appear.”

“It’s not a javelin, it’s a bow.”

“Yes, raise your bow.”

The villagers of Catria held their bows and inserted their own arrows.

After preparing to pull and fire at any time, I followed the Lemfra villagers who were leading the way.

Even if it was another village, it was not very different from their village.

Characteristics that can only be found in the vicinity of the village, such as side roads on the roads where many people pass by around the village, and traces that only they can recognize on the surrounding trees or cut branches, gradually came into view.

“It’s too quiet?”

It was strange.

It was too quiet.

Feint looked up at the sky and saw that his sun was directly above him.

It’s not even night and it’s so quiet…

“What are you going to do?”

“Let’s talk first.”

Paint took the lead and approached the village.

Did they know we would come and hide in advance?

As I approached their village through a heart-rending tension, I could understand why the village was quiet.

“Hup!”

Katria drew in her breath.

In a village about the same size as theirs, numerous wounded lay on the ground.

Most of the fallen people appeared to be adult men, and around them were small children sitting on the floor with blank eyes.

“Did another village invade?”

“You’ll find out if you watch.”

Leaving Katria’s anxiety behind, Feint approached them.

I knew that they would come first, and I couldn’t put this bold trap, and I seemed to have no power to stop themselves.

“Who are you… Who are you…”

Among the fallen men, the tallest-looking man barely got up and said.

“I am a feint following Lemfra, the creator god.”

Paint was faithful to its original purpose, which was to promote its own god.

Before she knew the situation properly, she started by saying the name of her god.

“Creator? Lemfra? That’s funny.”

The man who heard Feint’s words laughed out loud.

“God has abandoned us.”

“God abandoned you?”

There are only two gods in this world.

Lemfra, God of Creation, Katria, God of Wisdom.

If Lemfra appoints a new god, the number of gods may increase, but in Feint’s faith, all the gods, not just those two, are just one of Lemfra’s fragments.

“Yes! Monsters attacked the village not too long ago. The police risked their lives to stop them. Many people were injured, but in the end, no one died and the monsters were driven out.”

“Isn’t this resolved well?”

“In this era, there’s no way we can recover from such a wound.”

Katria was right.

The wounds of the men lying on the floor were minimally bleeding, and many seemed to have suffered fractures.

Wounds left unattended for long periods of time cause infection.

“We are bodies that can no longer be restored. We are no different from those who have been predicted to die.”

“It’s unfortunate, but… What does it have to do with you being hurt and the being you believe in abandoning you?”

“The monsters already know where our village is. They don’t know when they’ll attack again. The one we call God has left, leaving us who are destined to die anyway and our little children.”

“Is that why there were no people like this? Did they leave you and leave?”

“Yes, that’s why we don’t believe in God. A creator? That’s nonsense. If a creator existed, there’s no way we would have left our pain alone.”

Paint snorted.

“The reason Lemfra didn’t help you is because you didn’t believe in him. If you believed it, you would have taken action.”

“We didn’t know about Lemfra’s existence.”

-Kwajik!!

A spear of paint was lodged just to the right of the man’s head.

“Don’t call Lemfra by name. If you call her that way again, I’ll puncture your face this time.”

The man averted his gaze as Feint spoke with a fierce glaring glare.

“Okay. You shouldn’t call me Lemfra.”

“Yes, well thought out.”

Feint smiled and retrieved her spear.

“Until now, you guys didn’t know about Lemfra-sama, but you came to know about Lemfra-sama through me. Choose. Will you just die here? Or will you look for the possibility of living by trusting in Lempra.”

“I believe!”

A childish voice was heard from the corner of the village.

The owner of the voice that appeared to be a girl was looking at the paint with very strong eyes.

“I will trust Lemfra, so please take me with you. I will do anything.”

Once one person stepped forward, the next one was easy.

All the people who had been abandoned in the village gathered in an instant and knelt in front of the paint.

“Take me with you. I don’t want to die like this.”

As people gathered, other expedition members also entered the village.

Since the possibility of an unexpected situation could not be completely ruled out, they were pointing at them without retracting their bows.

“I think others will follow Lemfra. What will you do?”

“… I will follow you.”

Feint looked around at the people around him.

About 10 men were injured, 8 children and 3 elderly people.

Children and the elderly did not have a problem because they could walk on their own even though they could not move fast, but it seemed quite difficult to carry the injured men.
