Chapter 287: Post-match Evaluation

Sir Duen waved his arm and scattered the dust, revealing Fong Sai Yuk’s sorry figure on the ground.

Yim Ho stood in a crater several steps in front of Fong Sai Yuk. The crater was the product of his final punch which he intentionally directed at the ground. Despite landing several steps away from Fong Sai Yuk, the attack had shattered the ground all the way till the cracks reached the youngster.

“Thank you for the spar.” Yim Ho greeted Fong Sai Yuk with a palm-fist salute and left for his seat.

Fong Sai Yuk sat dumbfounded on the ground as he thought, What? What just happened?

Everyone could hear a lonely clap. It came from a single person, but he was someone they all paid great attention to. The one who clapped was none other than Sir Hui, the man who sat next to Sir Duen.

While Sir Hui seemed dafter, he and Sir Duen greeted one another as brothers, and that could only mean his status was fairly high as well considering Sir Duen was the leader of the NPCs.

“It was a spectacular fight.” Sir Hui’s friendly smile was like the warm sun. “First, little brother Fong. Your techniques are decent despite your slightly lacking proficiency, and you managed to make up for that with your outstanding footwork. What amazes me the most, however, is your patience and scheming that is unbefitting of your age.”

“Even though you could barely withstand little brother Yim’s attacks, you pushed through with endurance and willpower. You intentionally wore out little brother Yim’s patience for five whole minutes, until you saw him get impatient and decided it was time to strike, didn’t you?” Sir Hui asked, but his tone showed his approval of Fong Sai Yuk’s approach. “Both Hardened Chi and Deific Blast could have made your five long minutes easier, but you kept them hidden until the final moment. Your planning, execution, and battle intent are all worthy of praise.”

Sir Hui then turned to Yim Ho as his bald head reflected the bright sun. “Little brother Yim, you surprised me as well. Not because you saw through little brother Fong’s scheme though—you were surprised as well, weren’t you? Ohoho. No, your extreme reflex is what surprises me.

“Little brother Fong took less than a second to gather his strength and release Deific Blast, yet you still managed to react instantly and changed your form. By flying into the sky, you’ve avoided over ninety per cent of the blast’s power. Such reflexes are truly a rare gift.”

The players all gasped and looked at Yim Ho like they were looking at a monster.

He dodged it?! How can a human have such reflexes?

Yim Ho merely stood up, paid Sir Hui a salute, and sat back down. He said nothing, but his silence was already an answer in itself.

“That final attack… Oho, even I can’t see through it completely. Looks like little brother Yim has some exceptional trick up your sleeve.” Intelligence flashed from Sir Hui’s eyes for a moment before he regained his usual expression.

Drako Yau furrowed his brows. Each one of them gets more and more mysterious. Sir Hui appears to be under Sir Duen’s lead, but their strength feels similar.

Fong Sai Yuk sat blankly on the ground. I tried so hard already, but I still lost… He subconsciously looked at the fiery red mask, his idol he looked up to. Although he couldn’t see Mask’s eyes through the mask, he simply knew Mask was returning his gaze.

“Not bad at all, keep it up,” Mask said.

“Yes!”

Mask’s words were far more encouraging than anyone else’s. Fong Sai Yuk shot up in excitement and shouted, “Yes!”

Fong Sai Yuk hopped back to his seat, and Sky Chun laughed wryly at the scene. He believed the youngster would unhesitatingly leave Sky Dominion if Mask recruited him, but he also trusted that Mask wouldn’t do such an underhanded thing.

The battle between Yim Ho and Fong Sai Yuk spurred others to participate in the sparring sessions. The players no longer stayed silent and actively volunteered to fight. No matter how blind they were, the fact that Sir Hui favoured Fong Sai Yuk and Yim Ho was rather obvious. Their chances would be gone if they didn’t act now.

Many players challenged one another. The NPCs took part once in a while, though whenever they did, the battle usually ended very quickly. Drako Yau could sense that they weren’t fighting at full strength; Tai On wouldn’t even have used his Mystifying Seven Swords if Hades hadn’t nearly injured him.

As Sir Duen mentioned, they weren’t trying to defeat the players. Their goal was to observe and seek a successor for their inheritances.

“Bloodless Bladester, get out here!” Ying Tin stood up and shouted.

While they both belonged to Evergrand, losing to Bloodless Bladester left a bitter taste in his mouth. He thought he only lost because he was taken by surprise.

Blood Shadow was a powerful skill that ignored all control effects, teleported the player, and left behind a clone, which was how Bloodless Bladester escaped the Blade Tornado and killed Ying Tin from behind. However, Ying Tin firmly believed that he lost because he had never seen this skill before.

Ying Tin’s strength wasn’t purely reliant on his powerful inheritance Swords of the Eight Realms and the Decorative Sword of Auras that synergised greatly with it; his combat techniques and instincts were also top-class. Now that he had seen through Blood Shadow, it was no more than a simple teleportation skill.

“Can I surrender?” Bloodless Bladester smiled.

Vexed, Ying Tin pointed at him and roared, “You… You… You coward!”

“Say what you want.” Bloodless Bladester sat in his seat leisurely and was in no hurry to prove himself like the others. As a former killer, patience was simply his forte.

Ying Tin had been thirsting to fight Bloodless Bladester as he sought revenge for the humiliation he suffered, which also affected his reputation. Suddenly, his sights landed on Hades sitting next Bloodless Bladester.

Recalling a certain rumour, Ying Yin smirked and said, “Looks like the dog takes after its owner. Oh Hades, can’t you tell your dog the man up? Oh sorry, I almost forgot you’re a wimp too. Ahahah!”

The guild master of Six Nations felt himself drenched in cold sweat. You idiot… Underworld is now the reigning guild of Evergrand! You’re cursing Hades because you want revenge?

Just when the guild master wanted to put an end to the farce, Bloodless Bladester stood up.

Dammit, it’s all over! the guild master thought.

Not a tint of friendliness could be found on Bloodless Bladester. Instead, endless killing intent washed over him as he said, “You just want a fight. Sure, I accept.”

Sir Duen narrowed his eyes. “Such a dense killing intent. It feels familiar.”

Sir Hui pointed out from beside, “He should be the successor of Ichor Hon.”

“Ah, that butcher who only knows how to kill. Even he got himself a successor, huh? Mhm, no wonder that child isn’t interested in our inheritances. Since he already knows Lunar Reflection, other inheritances aren’t of much help to him.”
