Game’s Dogma

Chapter 117: Dual Magazine

The Heart-Piercing Shot tore through the air as a red beam. While Double Shot fired relatively fast projectiles, they were far from that of Heart-Piercing Shot, which shot an incredibly quick projectile in exchange for a one-second cast time.

The Heart-Piercing Shot whizzed through the air towards a vacant area. The spectators all thought why would Windstrider miss his shot by such a great margin when he was so good initially.

The next moment, Drako Yau who dodged Dual Shot perfectly appeared before the Heart-Piercing Shot. Blood splattered from his chest upon impact.

The crowd burst with excitement. He was actually a pro!

Windstrider was the most dumbfounded one among everyone; his special technique ‘Triple Shot’ had never failed him before. However, Windstrider clearly saw the masked man striking the ground with his spear and twisting his body by taking advantage of his torque to avoid the bullet from hitting his heart.

The splatter of blood was just cinematics. The shot, which was supposed to trigger the Weakness Exploit bonus damage, didn’t actually deal a lot of damage because it missed the weak spot.

Even though Windstrider was still surprised by his enemy’s manoeuvre, his arm moved before he consciously willed them to. He pointed his hunting rifle at Drako Yau and fired another shot, a gush of smoke erupting from its barrel.

Drako Yau twisted his spear while losing balance to block the shot. A loud clang resounded throughout the pit. Though he managed to defend against the shot, he was forcibly knocked backwards, losing half the ground he had covered since the start of the duel.

Repelling Shot!

‘Oh?’ Even Chau Yu stood up from his seat. With a heavy look on his face, he asked the guild member in charge of intel, ‘Who is he?’

The player seemed just as surprised, but he still calmly reported, ‘Windstrider, Level 21 ranger. Ranked 134th in the Arena.’

Chau Yu shook his head. ‘With how good he is, his ranking wouldn’t be so low. He never went all out. Contact him after this battle, recruit him at all costs!’

Currently, Chau Yu was focused on Windstrider, even more so than Mask. After all, Mask was an enemy whom he couldn’t deal with in the near future. If Windstrider joined Empyreal Spire though, it wasn’t impossible to snipe Mask to death from afar together with Hau Ngai.

Drako Yau wiped away blood from the wound on his left chest. Being grazed by a bullet felt similar to getting slashed by a sword. After getting used to injuries lately, this level of injury wasn’t too hard to bear. Instead, it instigated the beast within him. It was just as Chris had said—he bore a passionate heart while having a cool head.

Bam! Bam! Bam! Bam!

Bullets flew at him one after another as he charged head on. Unlike just now, he now treated his enemy as someone with equal standing as himself.

Drops of sweat dripped down Windstrider’s forehead. The person battling him had morphed from a human being into a monster. The pressure he felt was on an entirely different level.

He’s getting serious? Windstrider was scared. However, a tint of excitement also stirred within him. He’s an enemy who’s worth going all out at!

At that moment, Windstrider reached for a black item in his item bag and plopped it onto his hunting rifle.

Bam Bam! Bam Bam!

Two consecutive Dual Shots!

The four bullets split off into four different trajectories along with sounds of another two shots.

Two Heart-Piercing Shots!

Chau Yu was already itching to make a move. ‘Encounter quest!’

Even though many players were reporting it as a bug to the officials, the answer was obvious—such powerful equipment could be obtained only through encounter quests.

Windstrider didn’t regret showing his trump card to the world. This was the first time he had ever used it in front of an audience.

Dual Magazine, Tier A off-hand equipment. Grants the ability to re-cast a hunter skill within 2 seconds. Skill cooldown begins after re-casting, or after 2 seconds without re-casting.

It was an overpowered piece of gear, but thankfully its effect was only limited to ‘hunter’ skills, which meant ‘ranger’ skills after class progression wouldn’t benefit from it.

Still, being able to re-cast the same ability was almost unfair: two Dual Shots, two Heart-Piercing Shots, two Repelling Shots, all of which could be cast in quick succession. Hunters didn’t have active Level 10 skills because their Level 10 skill was a passive called Farsight which slightly increased their attack range and was a certain pick for all rangers.

Up against six consecutive shots, mist seeped from Drako Yau’s legs and shrouded them in a tornado.

Fuah…

When the tornado of mist dissipated, Drako Yau had already escaped the blanket of bullets headed his way. Windstrider’s prediction ability was extraordinary and he was a precise shooter, clearly shown in their first exchange, but all his shots had now missed.

Windstrider and even Drako Yau himself were surprised. His Empyreal Dragon Step had gotten noticeably quicker!

It’s Wandering! The passive skill affects Empyreal Dragon Step too!

Not dwelling on the thought any longer, Drako Yau raced towards Windstrider once again. They were now only 10 or so steps apart!

Seeing Drako Yau close in on him, Windstrider didn’t retreat and stepped forwards to engage his enemy while firing off shot after shot with his hunting rifle. As they drew closer, his shots reached his target quicker.

Drako Yau could feel himself heating up from the intense battle as Windstrider stepped towards him instead of pulling away. Such a powerful opponent!

With a distance of five steps between them, he thought, It’s enough! His spear had been waiting eagerly for this moment. He put force into his arms and thrusted his spear at Windstrider.

Windstrider ducked to dodge the incoming spear which grazed past his hair and slided to Drako Yau’s side. He fired two Dual Shots as he flicked his hunting rifle upwards.

Drako Yau was unable to dodge two of the shots in time, which landed on his left thigh. He grunted and snapped a kick with his right leg at WIndstrider who was at close range.

The kick sent Windstrider flying backwards. Drako Yau, ignoring his injuries, pressed on and struck his spear like a persistent viper.

Two streaks of blood trickled from Windstrider’s nostrils. While airborne, he turned his body and shot two Repelling Shots at Drako Yau. The powerful recoil knocked him further away before he finally landed.

The two Repelling Shots clashed against Drako Yau’s spear and pushed him 10 steps back like powerful sumo wrestlers.

The entire pit was dead silent; even the spectators, which was now at 150,000 and rapidly approaching 200,000, who were spectating or watching live streams of the match held their breaths. The exchange of blows just now astounded everyone. Even the elites who ranked high on the Arena rankings couldn’t hold back anymore and personally entered the game to witness the battle between masters with their own eyes.
