Game of Thrones: Holy Flame King

Chapter 499: A Belated Judgment

The white dragon flew over the snow-capped Mingyue Mountains.

Seven closely connected slender white pagodas are looming among the clouds and mists, like seven pure white daggers piercing the heart of the sky.

"Your Majesty, the Eagle's Nest is ahead," Bran Stark said.

Samwell nodded silently, patted Cleopatra's neck, and motioned for it to descend.

As the political center of the Valley, the Eagle's Nest City is located on the top of the Moon Mountain Range. It is the tallest castle in Westeros and also the most impregnable castle.

To reach the Eagle's Nest City, the invaders must first capture the Blood Gate on the narrow mountain path, then capture the Moon Gate Castle at the foot of the mountain, and then climb up the mountain through a very narrow path. The whole process will be exposed to the attack of Eagle's Nest City and the three secondary fortresses on the mountain.

The city on a hill is built of ornate white stone that blends with the snow and glistens in the sun.

The arrival of the white dragon caused a commotion in the castle, but soon, Lady Lysa Tully, the mother of Robert Arryn, Duke of Eyrie, came to see her, surrounded by several heavily armed knights.

"Your Majesty Caesar, I really didn't expect you to come to the Eagle's Nest City, and we have not been notified..."

"We just passed by, not an official visit." Samwell said, "We won't stay too long, we will leave after a night's rest."

"well."

Compared to the last time we met in Starfall City, Mrs. Lysa seemed to be a completely different person.

She looked twenty or thirty years older, with thinning auburn hair mixed with gray, and an expensive velvet dress and jeweled corset hiding a bloated, flabby body.

Her pale cheeks were powdered, but they still couldn't hide the ravine-like wrinkles. She was only in her thirties, but she looked no different from an old woman in her fifties or sixties.

"Aunt," said Bran Stark, who was carried by Hoduo and jumped off the dragon's back, "how are you doing?"

"Very good, very good." Lady Lysa squeezed out a smile. "Bran, I heard that you fell from the tower. It was terrible! Fortunately, the Seven Gods blessed you and brought you back to life."

"Unfortunately, the Seven Gods didn't bless Uncle." Bran said suddenly.

Madam Lysa's face froze, and a fright flashed in her eyes, but it disappeared immediately. She approached the king courteously, and said:

"Your Majesty, please hurry into the house, it's cold outside."

"No matter how cold it is here, can it be as cold as the Great Wall?" Samwell said indifferently. But he still walked towards the castle.

The garden has been covered by heavy snow, a vast expanse of whiteness.

Samwell stopped in front of a tearful white female marble statue, turned around and asked Lady Lysa:

"This should be the image of Alyssa of the Ayrin family, right?"

"Yes, Your Majesty." Although she didn't know why the king was suddenly interested in this statue, Lady Lysa replied respectfully.

"I heard that six thousand years ago, Alyssa Arryn watched her husband being murdered without shedding a single tear." Samwell said pointedly, "so the gods punished her to die Afterwards, the tears continued."

"Yes. The huge waterfall, Alyssa's Tears, is named after her. The tears that the gods punished her flowed from the Bright Moon Mountain Range day and night, watering the black fertile fields of the valley plain." Madam Lysa felt a little guilty. said.

"The gods are just," Bran commented.

Samwell didn't say much, and went on, through a narrow weirwood door, into the hall.

The dim setting sun shone in through the arched windows, a dozen torches were inserted on the iron candlesticks between the windows, and the heat emitted warmed the entire hall.

At the end of the blue-and-white marble floor was a carved weirwood throne, with the crescent and falcon of House Arryn painted on the back.

Samwell sat down on the throne and asked:

"And Lord Robert Arryn?"

"He fell asleep," said Lady Lysa.

"So early?"

"Yes, Your Majesty. Robert is still young and sleepy."

"Now that the king is coming to the Vale of Arryn, doesn't the Duke come out to greet him in person?" Bran questioned.

"I'm so sorry, Your Majesty. Robert has been in poor health. He just drank poppy milk. I'm afraid it will be difficult to wake him up..."

"Forget it then." Samwell waved his hand and asked instead, "Where is Earl Anda Royce?"

"Earl Anda has returned to Runestone City." Lady Lysa said.

Samwell narrowed his eyes, and his tone became serious:

"He is the guardian of the valley appointed by me. Before Duke Robert comes of age, he should preside over the political situation in the valley. How can he return to Runestone City?"

"Earl Anda is not used to the cold of the Eyrie." Lady Lysa gave the king a cautious look, and said, "And your majesty, the guardianship of the valley has always been hereditary to the Arryn family..."

"Are you questioning my appointment?" Sam Wells said.

The coldness in his tone instantly swept across the hall, and even the torch on the wall dimmed.

"No, no..." Madam Lysa felt a terrifying coercion coming back like a sea tide, making her almost unable to breathe.

She didn't understand why the king targeted her so much, but when she thought that her younger brother was about to marry the other's younger sister, she prepared to make things better and ease the atmosphere:

"Your Majesty, I don't know when Edmure and Tara's wedding will be. I want to make preparations early and take Robert to watch the ceremony."

Samwell did not answer this question, but quietly looked at Mrs. Lysa with indifferent eyes, until he saw fine cold sweat oozing from her forehead, and then said again:

"Call all the knights in the castle, I have something to announce."

Lady Lysa had an ominous premonition in her heart, but she did not dare to disobey the king's order.

Soon, hundreds of knights in Eagle's Nest City who were loyal to the Ayrin family gathered in the hall.

"Your Majesty, all the knights of House Arryn have arrived," Madam Lysa said.

She stole a glance at the king on the dais, sitting on his weirwood throne, the marble walls behind him reflecting a pale, icy light...but not half as cold as a king.

He came from the Great Wall of Desperation, and he seemed to have brought all the profound ice from the extreme north to Eagle's Nest City.

Madam Lysa was worried, but at the same time she kept comforting herself——

Impossible, he couldn't possibly know that!

But if not, why did the king treat him like this?

And the hint of Alyssa's tears...

"Everyone," the king said, and the loud voice echoed in the hall, "Today I want you to be a witness."

witness?

The knights of the Arryn family were a little puzzled when they heard the words, but they still listened quietly to the king's speech.

"Four years ago, Jon Arryn, the former Duke of the Eagle's Nest, was poisoned and died in Starfall City. I was there at the time and witnessed the tragedy." Samwell continued, "At that time, I made a decision Determined to give Duke Jon Arryn justice and find out who killed him!"

"The real culprit has already been executed, Your Majesty." Lady Lysa said hastily, "It's the 'Red Viper' Oberyn Martell, you killed him in Sky City with your own hands! You have done it for Jon The Duke of Arryn has avenged his revenge! The Seven Gods have witnessed, and the Arryn family will always remember your kindness!"

"Really?" Samwell smiled faintly, turned to look at Bran Stark, and asked, "I heard that the 'Three-Eyed Raven' flew in the long river of time and saw the past. Bran, Have you seen who killed Jon Arryn?"

Bran nodded, looked at Lady Lysa with indifferent eyes, and said:

"Aunt, you are the one who killed Jon Arryn."

As soon as this remark came out, there was an uproar in the hall.

The knights looked at Madam Lysa with disbelief.

"You're joking, aren't you, Bran?" Lady Lysa's hands were shaking, and her face was paler than the white stone walls of the Eyrie.

"I can swear on the honor of the Stark family." Bran said solemnly, "There is no lie in what I say."

"No! Never!" screamed Lady Lysa. "You're lying! How could I have murdered my own husband!"

"Because you don't love your husband at all." Bran continued in an indifferent tone, "You love 'Littlefinger' Petyr Baelish, and it was he who ordered you to poison Jon Ayrin."

The discussion in the hall suddenly became louder.

"Lies! They're all lies!" Madam Lysa pointed at Bran with trembling fingers, her expression gradually grim, "Why did you want to kill me! I'm your mother's sister!"

"The gods won't tolerate those who kill relatives," Bran said.

Lady Lysa was trembling with anger, but then she saw the king on the high platform and said hastily:

"Your Majesty, you must never believe Bran's lies! How could I do such a thing, I..."

"If I believe it." Samwell interrupted lightly.

Lady Lysa froze in place, as if she had become an ice sculpture.

Samwell spoke again and asked:

"Lysa Tully, when Robert Baratheon held the trial of the Red Viper in King's Landing and invited you to testify, why didn't you go?"

"I..." Madam Lysa immediately shouted, "I'm worried about being retaliated by the red poisonous snake, yes, I'm afraid he will poison me to death too!"

"Oh? Really." Samwell said, "And what about the love affair with Littlefinger?"

"It's all lies!" cried Lady Lysa. "How can I love a man of low birth! Have you ever been to the land of the Baelish family? There is only a barren coast, jagged rocks, sheep dung and Horse manure!"

"If that's the case, why did you conceive such a little nobleman's child?" Bran asked.

Hearing this, Madam Lysa stood still in place as if struck by a bolt of lightning, without moving for a while.

"Yes, Auntie, I know all about it," Bran said, with pity in his eyes and wisdom that didn't belong to his age, "You don't have to try to deny it."

Samwell also said:

"Actually, Littlefinger told me all this before he died. It's just that I haven't had the time to deal with it all these years, and you've been hiding in the Eyrie. But Lysa Tully, you can't always Hide. The gods will not allow you to hide any longer.

Justice will come sooner or later. "

Lady Lysa staggered on the spot a few times before collapsing, no longer trying to defend herself.

She smiled sadly, rubbed her hands on her belly, and said:

"Yes, I love Petyr. We've been through so much, so much torment. You never know. I did have a sweet little baby for him."

Her face became hideous: "But they took him away! With a cup of moon tea... When my father brought it to me, I didn't even know what I was drinking! They murdered my child!

Then throw me to a stinking old thing!

I hate them!

I hate everyone!

Petyr told me he would avenge our children!

I really took revenge!

Ha ha ha ha!

Jon Arryn, that old thing died without knowing who killed him!

Hahaha……"

Hearing Madam Lysa's crazy words, the knights of the Arryn family changed expressions, and finally someone couldn't help shouting angrily:

"Kill her! Avenge Lord Jon!"

"Kill her!"

"Kill her!"

More and more voices began to echo, resounding in the hall.

Samwell got up from the weirwood throne, stepped down from the dais, came to Lady Lysa, and grabbed her arm.

She didn't struggle either, letting the king drag her along.

Samwell came to the center of the hall, where stood two slender columns of stone beams, and a narrow weirwood door in the marble wall.

It was tightly shut, with three heavy bronze latches.

But through the gap, the sound of howling wind could still be heard.

"This is the Moon Gate..." Lady Lysa turned extremely pale when she saw the crescent moon carved on the door.

She should have realized what the king was going to do, and she suddenly began to struggle.

But in front of Samwell, this struggle was futile.

Holding Lady Lysa down, he lifted a bronze deadbolt, pulled it out, and dropped it on the marble floor.

Then came the second, the third...

boom--

As soon as the third bolt was pulled, the heavy wooden door was blown open by the strong wind and slammed against the wall.

The wooden frame was covered with snow, and the cold wind continuously poured frost into the hall.

Lady Lysa trembled:

"Please, Your Majesty! Mercy! Mercy! I have a child! My brother is going to marry your sister! Mercy!"

"A woman like you doesn't deserve mercy."

As Samwell said, he clasped her wrists with his backhand, locked them behind his back, and forcibly pushed her to the front of the moon gate.

Outside the door, there is only blue sky, white snow, strong wind and emptiness.

Lady Lysa screamed and stepped on a patch of snow with her right foot, which slid quietly down the moon door and disappeared into the boundless void.

Obviously, there is nothing but air below, and the Eagle's Nest Castle, which is built on the mountain, is below the abyss.

"No! Don't!" cried Lady Lysa.

"This is a belated trial." Samwell said.

Then give it a light push.

Lady Lysa staggered forward and plunged into the moon door.

She screamed, but quickly disappeared into the void.

For a long time, only the cold wind howled endlessly.
