Furry Ears, His Unknown Brother's Identity

30 Thirty: Past Happenings; Not Something She’d Look Towards

*A year before*

"Shao Liling! Let's go! Liu Shan is already outta sight, you don't wanna lose to him, do you?"

Shao Liling panted, sweat dripping down her back and her shoulders as her ponytail swang side to side, somewhat sticking to her sweaty exposed arms as she swatted it aside every time.

'Agghhh! If I knew it was gonna be this much work and cooperation whatever blah blah, I wouldn't have passed the freaking test!'

Shao Liling and her entire class had passed the math test, like, nobody wants to be left out from so much fun. Even if it meant cheating.

She and Hyogee were stuck together. She wished she wasn't. It was getting on her nerves to be stared at or to be glared at the entire time she was minding her own business. She would very much be glad to change her so-called 'teammate' in order to get rid of the weird gazes she was receiving.

Teacher Yang, no, all the teachers, came up with the 'amazing' idea, of pairing students up. With random names picked by the teachers, it just had to be Hyogee who was picked for Shao Liling. They said it would be good for nurturing the relationships between the students, for students to have new friends and to communicate more easily with each other. The teachers just had to say that they would be stuck with whoever we were destined to stay together with.

Liu Shan was paired up with an anonymous fangirl of his, who he didn't even acknowledge to know her name. Feng Jiun was paired up with a horny *ss teenager, who gawked at her butt the entire time she led the way ahead because that person of a dumb*ss didn't know where to head to. All the students were paired with a person of a different gender of their own, exciting all of the fangirls Hyogee had.

But to their disappointment, non of them were together with him, setting aside the fact that they also didn't want any other girl with him rather than themself. They burned in jealousy in intend of strangling the poor Liling who was having trouble receiving all the glares and not returning them back because of the excessive amount she received.

"Hey, hasten up those legs, will ya?"

Hyogee said, with mock clear in his voice as it was in the sun's presence during day. Making Shao Liling clench her teeth and put all her might in taking the next step she loathed. As I've said, Shao Liling never was an enthusiast in moving around, or doing any activities which included the company of people she barely knew.

Shao Liling glared sharply at the pair of eyes staring at her like she was some bacteria stuck on the sole of his shoe, and let me remind you. He wasn't the only one giving her that stare, Shao Liling felt dozens of eyes from every direction from time to time. Making her hate this more than how much she hated it already.

Teacher Yang was already was at the top, moving stealthily as if his body of a middle aged man was now a young athlete's instead. Students stared in awe at the wonder they were introduced to.

Shao Liling moved her gaze as she saw an arm waving around furiously from the corner of her eyes, diverting her attention from teacher Yang as she paid Feng Jiun some attention.

"Aren't you gonna hurry up? They'll all leave! Move those long legs lady!"

Feng Jiun hollered, attracting attention from other spectators as well as from the teachers who threw her a glare from screaming out aloud as if she was on the brink of dying. She smiled cheekily as she shrugged her shoulders and tilted her head innocently. Giggling when the teachers sighed dramatically.

What could they do? She was one of the best students they had, and she did had a special place in their hearts for all the joy she'd brought because of her cheery aura around her at all times, and which teacher wouldn't be elated when the students comply to do the work they give to the latter?

Shao Liling smiled faintly, which was oblivious to her friend who waved a bye with her bubbly personality surfacing through as Feng Jiun went ahead. Shao Liling felt a small ache in her heart, the words quite familiar to what she had heard recently, almost breaking down right there and then, almost shattering her calm persona.

Hyogee was unfazed, the wilting look on Shao Liling's face, he had seen it already. It seemed as if the people around him knew nothing better than to lose themselves completely to a small matter that occurred in their life, if it was him, he would have moved on a lot earlier. He was tired from always returning back to a sad faced Ye MinFeng everyday. Coupled with a few new bruises everywhere around his body from each different day as he returned back to their home.

Hyogee was relieved when he heard that Ye MinFeng was sent outside the country from breaching one of the rules from the contract he had signed on to when he first came here. Hyogee was back to the boring, unsettling atmosphere he was used to, yet again.

He would never. Never ever, admit that. He was a slight bit sad, when the awareness of the departure of his small timed friend sunk in, knowing that he was the one true friend he truly needed in his life. Not like the leeches who stuck to him day to night like the girls who seemed to be obsessed with him, the people who he worked for, they only needed him for gathering information about other people in exchange for money.

'Whatever, that doesn't matter'

Or does it?

He, who had been the one always nagging about going quicker than the pace they were already set on the entire time, stopped himself as he felt the pain inside his heart from walking too fast as it thumped in his ears loudly. But he knew it wasn't only because from his exercise just now.

Hyogee, who was self dependent, now, felt like he lacked a piece of himself. As if one of his organs where snatched away from him, he felt incomplete. He felt dry knowing that he experienced such an impact, not because he dreaded the feeling, but because he felt it for the first time. Who knew it would make him want to forget about his entire existence and just let it succumb to it's nature as if it was nothing.

He dreaded that feeling. That unknown, new, feeling. It made him feel weak, sad, and vulnerable. All in one word, lonely.

He hated the fact that MinFeng's existence has caused such a hard influence not on his daily lifestyle, but also his mind and heart. Making it nearly impossible for Hyogee to even accept the fact that Ye MinFeng was gone.

He wanted to just bury himself in a pit, away from all the human contact which disgusted him. Yeah, the problem was that they were human. MinFeng wasn't, not that he thinks of. He felt homely when together with MinFeng, he felt like he could get used to it, and finally have a trace of warmth he had been experiencing deficiency in.

And now, it was gone. Again.

"What? Too afraid anyone's gonna leave you again? Just like that f*cking disgusting hybrid of a animal you dated?"

Shao Liling's gaze snapped, making her inner conscience wither. Her rapid breather getting quicker and quicker, wanting herself to quit this stupid task she was assigned to.

She glared at Hyogee so sharply he felt a chill going down his spine without his will, taking him by surprise, but then flashing a smile, making her gaze soften but not moving it. He was used to it by now, but deep inside, he hated it. He hated that he could get used to something so easily.

Hyogee perked up his eyebrow, mocking her as the smirk danced across his face, making Shao Liling more aware of the fact that he wasn't just joking around.

"How dare you say that?"

Shao Liling spat out, each word carrying great force as she let them out with so much force her teeth shook slightly, grinding them once in a while to appease the mass of emotions which were struggling to stay in.

"I'm saying that, He. Was. The most disgusting thing, I've ever seen"

Hyogee pronounced each word separately as if stalling time. An evil glint flashing in his eyes as he just laughed. Setting fuel to the fire by making Shao Liling boil deep inside as she tried her best to not let him witness her burst of emotions.

Shao Liling has to stay in place, breathing haggardly as she closed her eyes and counted downwards from ten to one as she tried to calm herself.

As she reached her third countdown, she heard a scream, a high pitched, nauseating scream. Shao Liling opened her eyes cautiously to check, taking in her surroundings as she saw Hyogee at the verge of falling down. Not poetically, but literally as he looked like a dangling leaf from the side cliff she had seen earlier.

He was leaning against a rock, his jacket moving side to side with the strong wind force, no one able to see his face as he faced towards the open scenery. He glanced back slightly, judging the scream he had just heard with a scrutinized look on his face as he spoke out,

"Don't be over dramatic, I'm just taking in the calming scenery"

"Oppa! I'm glad you responded to me! You're so handsome! Oh, and cute!"

The girl who had screamed earlier let on, alarming all the people as they hurried down to stop whatever the commotion was by looking at Hyogee who looked like he was about to jump.

Hyogee was seriously tired, tsk, just as he thought that someone cared for him, it was just all for attention. He glanced down as he saw the never ending height he was staring down upon.

"I'm not jumping or something, don't be so negative"

Everyone relaxed, visibly annoyed from the sudden movements they had to make, but the next thing they heard made their blood freeze.

"Or am I?"

Shao Liling who was the closest, widened her eyes as she leaped forward, trying to reach out her hand to Hyogee who stared back at her with an inexplicable expression. As she nearly touched his fingertips, she caught on from what Hyogee was mouthing.

"I. Am. Leaving. Too"

Someone pushed her as she fell on the ground to her left as they forwarded to catch Hyogee who was already out of contact with the hill, as he disappeared out of their sight and everyone stood shocked.

It happened too fast. Way too fast for anyone's liking as they were not able to do anything to stop it.

People crowded around that place as the teachers who were calm now went into hysterics. Some calling the paramedics and the hospitals as some hurriedly left down the mountain trail they had climbed on. Students were now creating a fuss, the atmosphere turned grim as people were now creating such a loud commotion more people seem to take interest.

Shao Liling, who sat there, was engulfed in a hug suddenly, as she caught a whiff of the familiar scent Feng Jiun carried around with herself wherever she went.

'It happened too fast'

That was what flashed across her mind before she felt like dying herself.
