23 Ranking Battles 1

His rank was slowly raising from the points accumulated from being good in class, but some other newbies' ranks dropped. They had gotten bad scores or had made the teachers angry. Some of them lost ranking battles.

Ranking battles were batteles between a higher rank and a lower rank to gain what ever was betted. Some poor students had bet too much and had lost. Scared of losing again, they stuck to slowly regaining points by completing extra projects and doing their best in class.

The ranking battle would be on a set topic and both parties had to agree. There could be a rap battle or a display of dancing skills. A group of five teachers, or approved students would vote on who the winner was. Whoever had more votes won and got the points or property that were staked in the bet.

Every three months, there were ranking tournaments. There were different ones for each letter rank, and students could decide not to enter. Every battle could give at least 10 points, which wasn't much, but if cumulative, it was a lot. The ranking battles during the finals of the tournaments had a couple thousand points staked in the last battle. The higher the tournament, the more the regular battles were worth and the more the final battle was worth. After all, a battle between A rankers was different than a battle between the F ranks.

S rankers were like stars already in the school and had no tournament unless a majority of the S rankers wanted to. They were not usually seen and were far above the kings, queens and jacks of the lower grades. When they appeared, it was like a pop star appeared on campus.

Other than ranking battles, there were projects from teachers or the stars that visited to give advice. They were like quests and could range from writing a song, to doing well in a play outside of school. One of the weirdest quests given in all of the academy's history was a quest assigned by a teacher to act in a school play as a prop without any of the other students noticing. The student was covered with special effects makeup and was placed on the stage. Other than the crew, no other students or audience members knew until the end of the play during the bows. After what seemed to be the last bow, the curtains remained open. To the audience's surprise and the actors' the statue jumped off of its pedestal and gave a low bow. The auditorium was silent for a while before the building erupted into chaos.

They were all in shock until one boy groaned loudly. "OH GOD! I've changed pants in front of him!"

Sam had an amazed face as Grace told him about all of the crazy quests and ranking battles.

"Anyways, Sam, you have a battle tournament next week. The week after that is the D tournament. Then C. You know how it goes."

"Sound pretty cool, I'll be sure to support you and the others when your tournament comes up."

"I'll definitely be there for you and Daniel next week. Also, Sam, what's your specialty?"

"Ehm. I can sing and act, but I'm not so sure about dancing. I haven't tried that."

"Marianne, Belladonna and I can teach you a little for a while and then the next day, you can dance with the guys. I'll ask the group chat."

Grace pulled out her phone and typed slowly. Although Grace was a wonderful dancer and singer, her typing skills were not up to par.

After a couple of moments, everyone gave their approval. After school, most of them were just goofing off or relaxing since it was Friday.

"So when do you want to meet?"

"I'm thinking about an hour after school ends in the A rank dance room until dinner. So around 4 to 6. Same schedule with the guys."

Grace then started to slowly type the schedule into her phone for the rest of the group to approve. They approved in record time speed. They obviously had fast fingers while Grace did not.

"Okay, so Sam, we've got to plan a couple of pieces out for your tournament, even though it might be a little late. I don't want you to battle someone and lose because you made up a performance that when they worked on theirs for weeks."

Sam groaned at the thought of more work, but knew that Sarah was right. "Okay, let's get started."
