For You

14 Mi padre es muy malo

That is what was written on 7th grader Sam's paper. The teacher asked why he wrote that.

"Sam, why did you write 'My father is very mean'?"

"Another definition of mean is unfair. He is very unfair."

"How is he unfair?"

"He keeps babying my step brother."

"That's not that bad."

"No, it's worse than you think. When I don't give things to Derik, he keeps telling father that I'm bullying him. Father doesn't listen to me when I try to tell him it wasn't me. I have to apologize for something I didn't do and have to give Derik whatever he wants."

His teacher gave him a sympathetic look. "Do you want me to talk to your father about this for you?"

Sam shook his head rapidly. "No!" His eyes looked at the teacher, pools of amber. "Please... don't."

His teacher sighed. "Alright, but you can always come and talk to me if you ever feel like you need a friend or someone to comfort you."

Sam nodded and went back to work.

Mrs. Rose was and still is a constant source of support for Sam, almost like a second mother to him.

The next day, at school, Sam visited Mrs. Rose after school to ask for advice on how to tell his father the news.

Sam knocked on the open door quietly as he peered into the room. Mrs. Rose looked up from her desk and smiled warmly at the sight of Sam.

"Sam!" she said as she got up from her desk. She rushed to Sam and hugged him tightly.

"How have you been? You haven't visited me in a while,"she said as she stepped back from the hug.

Sam looked away from her pouting face guiltily. "I was busy preparing for an audition. But now, I'm done with the audition."

"Oh? Did you pass?"

"Yes I did."

"That's great Sam! I'm so proud of you! What did you audition for?"

"I auditioned to be a trainee for Silver Castle Entertainment."

Mrs. Rose's mouth dropped open. "Oh wow! Oh my god! That's so amazing Sam! You might become a star! You might appear on TV! Or be on the radio!"

Sam was infected by her happiness and smiled widely. "Daniel also passed the auditions."

"Oh, your best friend? That's wonderful, you two can support each other as you guys rise! Or maybe you two can work together in a band!"

"I told my mom, and now I need to tell my dad because, you know I live with him. He's my legal guardian..."

"Ah, I see, is this the problem you needed advice for?"

"Yes."

"Come and sit down." She gestured towards the soft grey couch that they often lounged on as they talked to each other. They both sat down and Sam began to take about his troubles.

"... so I don't know what to do."

"Hmm, you know what. Just tell him. He doesn't seem to have any problems with you doing whatever you want, so he shouldn't have a problem with this."

Mrs. Rose gave him a quick hug. "Aww. I'll always support you. Now go and tell your father. He should be home right now."

"Thank you, and bye!" Sam waved at Mrs. Rose as he walked out of the door.

Sam got an Uber and ran into the house and to the door of his father's office. He knocked on the imposing, large wooden door. A few moments passed before a cold voice came from behind the door. "Come in."

Sam gently opened the door. In front of him was a cold, handsome middle aged man sitting behind a computer, piles of paper around him.

"Do you need something?" asked Li Wei, looking up from his computer screen.

"I need to tell you something."

"Okay, please make it quick."

"The thing you gave me permission for earlier was for an audition, and I passed. It was to be a trainee for Silver Castle Entertainment."

"Okay. Why couldn't you tell me over the phone?"

"Because you never listen to me when we talk over the phone. This is the only way I can talk to you and have an actual conversation."

"So what did you want to have a conversation about then?"

"I'm going to go live in the facility and transfer to the school there. I won't miss out on any material and will finish all of the highschool curriculum."

"Okay, when are you going to move?"

"November 14th. I also have some papers you need to sign. I've already filled out the information."

Li Wei nodded. "Where are the papers?"

"I'll go get them, they're in my room." Sam rushed out of the office and ran into his room to get the papers off of his desk. He grabbed them and went back into the office.

He put the papers on his father's desk and Li Wei quickly signed them. Sam quickly went out of the room, shutting the door gently before running to his room. He rushed through the door, closing it on the way and took a running leap into his bed.

He collapsed into his soft bed.

"I was so nervous, but now that it's all over, I'm so tired."
