Flash Marriage

Chapter 7.1

Chapter 7: Jiang Li is a true actor. (1)

Since childhood till I grew up I had always despised He Zhi, whether it’s face, shape, IQ scores, hardware or software I did not like anything. She had complimented me just once only, that too because of my ability to eat. But after seeing Jiang Li He Zhi utilized phenomenal efforts, using all the imaginable words to compliment my eyes, indeed making me really flattered but even then did not dare to tell her about Jiang Li’s sexual orientation.

Because of my good "eyes", He Zhi also acted much more aggressively for my marriage, despite being busy she would rush to help, after work or on the weekend, this immediately made me forget all her past ‘abuse’, I sincerely appreciated her support.

Although He Zhi was never ceremonious with me, but her politeness towards Jiang Li was at a completely different class. Jiang Li unreasonably said that I was not uncivilized but He Zhi was extremely genteel. So, I often sighed, He Zhi and Jiang Li these two people were indeed a homologous pair, if not .... Whenever mentioned this, He Zhi would give me a slap on the head, mercilessly and Jiang Li would gloat over my torture and after randomly adding fuel to the fire would go and sit at one side.

In summary, He Zhi’s feature, ferociousness, could be parried off, while Jiang Li’s character was simply evil, this scum!

Unsurprisingly He Zhi was not only my bridesmaid but also maid of honor and the other bridesmaid was my college friend, Ai Xue. Quite frankly in four-years of college Ai Xue was not my best friend but a different person, whereas now we basically had become two strangers, the reason for that could be compared to throwing dog’s blood*... She stole my boyfriend and that stealing was very successful. Everybody had seen “Struggle”**, which had a girl named Ma Yi Li. I felt I did not get as lucky as Ma Yi Li, there was only her bad luck in my life.

* As mentioned in the previous chapter the term used was ‘gou xue’ meaning cursing someone.
**A highly successful 2007 Chinese drama about post-graduation life of four students.

Aiya aiya, these were the things of the past, not worth mentioning.

He Zhi helped me by making a lot less trouble, only to give me a huge annoyance in the end – since she had a direct hand in my wedding arrangements, so I almost ruined the celebration of my own wedding.

Although busy for two weeks, I had persevered till the end, marriage to me was only a show, just like drinking a cup of boiling water, and one should just run away right after drinking. But I was surprised, from the cup of boiling water that was supposed to be empty emerged a few flies like species, making it disgusting. Ah, that plainly means at the wedding there were some people whom I did not want to see……you do not see wrong, it was ‘some’, not ‘a’.

So the man, who did not care about me at all, was here and was being pushed over onto the stage.

... ..

I really felt that The Almighty really gave me some face, Thought the Sun must be getting married on this day publicly as it was really very hot, just as the earth roasted the sweet potatoes and the roasted one out of oil had to be considered as forsaken I was also spared from the heat.
Fortunately, our wedding was not outdoor event, I basically had to walk to and fro while staying at an air conditioned place otherwise I would really have died of sweating….

The wedding, in fact, was not an interesting thing just boring, I was almost like a large doll at the mercy of others, going here and there, doing strange and cumbersome procedures, not only that, I had to laugh and not just laugh, it had to be a reserved and dignified smile……I really wanted to understand but failed to understand, marriage was obviously a couple's story, why did the whole world run along for the ride?

I embraced the final hurdle simply through tough mentality, smiling and holding hands with Jiang Li on the red carpet.

Then, when I looked at the person sitting next to my mother, I could not even muster my usual minimal smile.
Jiang Li noticed my strangeness; he gently squeezed my hand, using a voice that only I could hear said: "Who is that person?" Because his lips only quivered, so his words were little unclear.

I also imitated him, said: "in biological sense, my father." I remembered telling my mother to not to let him know about my marriage, how could he still be here?

Jiang Li suddenly raised his other hand up, pinched my face a little, saying: "you relax a bit, it’s nothing terrible."

Now that everyone in the wedding hall around us was looking at us, the atmosphere could be called as serious, his obvious, arbitrary and solemn action attracted people’s attention, sadly there was even a slight murmuring-of course it was either well-intention-ed or malicious. Due to his indulging intimate action [though I knew he was in fact pretending] the atmosphere suddenly relaxed down. He previously had said the wedding’s not a funeral so there’s no need to be too serious.

Because he wanted so I also did not want to keep this kind of psychological discomfort too. Surrounding air felt less stuffy thus my face and body relaxed slightly, naturally put out a smile for the audience.

Could not help but admit, Jiang Li was very good at regulating atmosphere.

Later on, according to numerous eye witnesses, Jiang Li was looking at my eyes tenderly enough to drown a person. Although it was a vulgar way to imagine it, but I truly admired his magnificent realm of acting, what a superb talent that always came in handy - this boy was wearing his shell of ‘idol image’ while hiding his true inner self.

From beginning to the end I had not even glanced nominally at my biological father, whether accidentally meeting his eyes or a direct glance, anyway around so many people, who would curse him and looking at him would only make me disgusted!

I took the ring and put it on the ring finger of Jiang Li, his fingers were slender, short rounded nails, looked really nice. Vaguely remembered a person who also had a hand like that but I did not have the chance to put wedding ring on that hand.

I was lost in my thoughts; Jiang Li suddenly raised my face up and gently kissed my lips.

Wohooo...their first official kiss!!!!

My whole body trembled slightly. I closed my eyes tight, refraining tears from flowing out. A long time ago, I always had a dream, that person would put a ring on my hand, and then we would kiss and would have the right to proclaim each other’s ownership. We would receive a lot of blessings. Four years later, that day finally came true, but one thing was no longer same, that person.

Jiang Li’s lips left my lips, with a subtle smile on his face he simply said: "can you concentrate a little." his voice revealed dissatisfaction.

Well, his perpetual smile was for others to see; only discontent and impatience was for me. At least I was a bit lucky; I was married to a man who did not care, so regardless of how he was here with me for now, I would also not care.

Next step was to make a toast, although I never got drunk in my life but nonetheless as a timid bride [masked], of course, could not drink much, could only follow Jiang Li, the standard was drinking very little and that too slowly, rest was blocked off by the maid of honor and groom. Jiang Li could be considered as a good drinker, which made me look at him with admiration.

After finishing giving respect to the relatives, classmates and friends must also be toasted to. When I inadvertently swept a gaze across the classmates and friends sitting at a banquet table, accidentally saw a figure, which I did not want to see in this life. My legs went limp and I almost fell to the ground, but fortunately Jiang Li promptly held me.
