Fate/Stay Night: Moon's Cry

Five years later, Kiritsugu never stops investigating the Mages Association.

Somewhere at the town of Fuyuki, there's an old bald man walking the streets. He came to a familiar place.

It was Emiya's residence.

On his last battle against Kotomine Kirei, Kiritsugu acquired Magic exhaustion due to corruption of the Grail to him.

One night, Kiritsugu suddenly felt a very painful feeling that made him nearly collapsed. Finding something to hold on to, Kiritsugu went out and sat on the balcony seeing the stars while wondering. Shirou approaches and sat beside him.

"Old man, If you're sleepy, you should go to your bed."

-"No, It's fine.

Did you know when I was of your age, I dreamt to bring justice to this world."

"You dreamt of becoming a hero? Did you gave up?"

-"Yeah.

It's unfortunate. When the time passes and you became ȧduŀt. Things getting harder.

"That's just too bad, then."

-"The moon's really nice tonight."

"Yeah.

Old man, since you couldn't do it, I will do it for you."

-"Shirou look at me.

I have something to give you."

Kiritsugu grabbed my shoulder and something just passed inside my body.

"What did you do, Old man?"

-"I just gave you my inner strength.

I will teach you how to fight. For you to defend yourself."

From then on, Kiritsugu train Shirou hand to hand combat and fundamentals of self-defense.

A month later, Kiritsugu finished teaching Shirou of fundamentals of Close combat techniques. But on the other hand, while Shirou practicing arts of fighting, he secretly practicing Magecraft.

Before Kiritsugu saved him, getting him out of the rubble and adopted him. Kiritsugu has no knowledge that the boy he saved was a Mage. Indeed, he planted the scabbard that he took from his deceased wife to save the boy's life.

When Kiritsugu discovers Shirou is a Mage, he viewed the kid as a threat. But, on the same time, he also found a hope lights on the boy.

Upon discovering Shirou is a Mage, Kiritsugu recalled his past as a young orphan after the calamity brought by his Magus Father zombified all the villagers of the island where he lived long ago. He was then adopted by an organization that plans to seek and kills the evil mages that brought calamities to the world.

Back to the present, Kiritsugu came to Shirou.

Kiritsugu, even in his bad health condition, he still overpowered Shirou. When the training has done, Kiritsugu told Shirou that he knows a little magic.

Before sunset, Kiritsugu teach the boy strengthening spell. It is a reinforcement spell that strengthen any objects as hard as Metal.

Shirou Emiya went to his bed to sleep. While Kiritsugu, went to the stock room.

Kiritsugu cleared the center of the room and draw a magic circle.

"When the time comes, the boy will summon his servant."

Just then, some mysterious figure entered.

"Zouken Makiri"

Zouken Makiri. A Russian Sage from 400 years ago developed and one of the Five Sages devised the Grail War. An Immortal they said.

Most of the Mages from long ago knew him. But his name was forgotten by history. None of the present Mages recognised him. However, Kiritsugu done a deep investigation towards him. That every details he knew about the man.

"You're here to take it. But, I'm sorry I have nothing what you're looking for."

—"Kiritsugu Emiya. The son of the infamous Dr. Emiya who zombified the whole village. You were raised as Mage-killer by an ȧssassin guild.

The sheath. You knew you have no strength to fight me. Don't be stubborn."

"The Scabbard is on the hands of the King of Knights. There's nothing in my possession."

Looking around the stockroom, the old man felt something.

"Summoning Circle. You knew you cannot hold for long. That's why you draw the Circle. The next Grail War will happen five years from now."

"The Einzbern had your daughter. Did you regret the choices you made that sacrificed her? I can take your child there and give it to you. Just give me the thing."

—"You are no different than Einzbern. Using lives of innocent people. And the Grail system is no other than a fake wish granter."

"Holy Grail is a wish granter. It could grant any wishes you want."

—"The Grail is corrupted. It can grant only illusive dėsɨrės."

The old man continued to walk around Kiritsugu trying to convince him to show the hidden item.

No one could become God. The real motive is to sacrifice many people to summon a great power that could destroy anything."

—"I was no planning to compete with the Grail War. Seeing them fight to death, makes me happy. But, I am getting older. I need more power to be immortal."

The old man suddenly stopped walking. A shadow went in.

—"The previous ruler of the Grail. Avenger. I made him corrupt the Grail. Took it from the hands of Einzbern. Made my own Grail."

"Avenger, huh. It is your doing. I blamed myself. Huh"

Even in furious state, Kiritsugu still didn't show signs of anger but kept his pace in calm. He took out his gun from his pocket not to shoot the man in front of him. He took it out and wipe the dust that covered because of having been unused for years.

"It's been long since I last used this gun. I haven't enchanted anymore gold bullets to strike down a Sage in front of me. And in addition to that, my body is weakening."

—"I didn't come here to kill you or the boy you taken care of. I came here for an agreement. That you will give me the Avalon and I tell Avenger to cure you. Or, I'll let you die from the curse."

"As I told you Avalon is not in my hands any longer. After my deceased Iri, I returned the Scabbard to Saber."

Even he feels deep hatred in his heart, he knew that in his condition, there's nothing he could do. Kiritsugu sat peacefully and stared at the glass wall, looking at the stars while putting a single bullet in the caliber. Finished putting it however, the black object started to envelope his body and the gun was released from his hand. He began collapsing to the ground. The black thingy then left him to Death.

The old man then transformed into bats and leave the room unnoticed.
