EVO WARS SYSTEM

Sighing I sit up in bed and look across the room at my new roommate a small snake my brother got me as a moving in present. She's just a baby only about nine months old. Her species is Albino Burmese python and right now her length is only about eleven inches but apparently she can grow to about eighteen feet. I don't even know how my older brother got her but I'm glad he did and wound up naming her Frost, because of how her scales look like snowflakes. I know makes me sound a little girly but she really is amazing to look at with her clear blue eyes staring back at me.

Standing up I go over to my mirror and look at the same average looking face with short curly brown hair and brown eyes, I'm not ugly but i'm far from being chased by the girls. My body is in decent shape but with my usual look of jeans and a baggy shirt no one would realize it. I'm around 2 meters tall so I can say I'm a little taller than average.

Wondering why my room was still so dark I walk over and look out the window. Around six o'clock the sun should start showing about now but it was so dark. Double checking my clock on my bedside table I walk over and open my window to take a closer look. Shocked I thought I 4was still dreaming, blue mist everywhere. So thick it blocked the light from the early sunrise.

"The hell?"

A mist started to slowly descend covering everything in sight with a thick blue hue. I stared wide eyed thinking I was still asleep,, until finally it floated into my room like a rushing wave trying to surround everything, like a thick blanket. Freaking out I tried rushing out of my room when my sight went dark and I collapsed.

I don't know how long I was out, but when I opened my eyes to see a white ceiling compared to my dark blue one. I slowly looked around to see white walls and a white floor, they weren't made of wood, brick, or any type of metal. I walked over to a wall and knocked and heard no sound, the feeling was like I touched solid air, no feeling of resistance but at the same time I couldn't go past it.

"O you woke up. Hi nice to meet you, my name is Artemis but you can all me Arty or Big Sister."

A voice that sounded out felt like a breeze in mid summer, I started to relax just at the sound of her voice and could feel myself calming down more. Looking around I hesitated no longer and called out my hello not seeing anyone in sight.

"Good now listen close, your world will be changed from this moment on and to survive you will need to follow my instructions carefully, so that you don't die to fast and I can get more rewards."

Ignoring my ugly expression at her words she continued in an upbeat tone.

"A star a few systems next to yours exploded about seven years ago and the radiation from that explosion finally reached your planet, with no other variables it would have become a barren rock again. My race went into action though and covered the earth in a protective field that allowed your planet to survive, but things will be different. Firstly with the radiation that leaked through the cover almost all of your current tech is now mostly garbage, Secondly all organisms on your planet are about to enter a state of hyper evolution and most of them won't be friendly towards your race, thirdly with all that happening you also need to worry about the tasks im going to give you."

The sound of giggles came from all around me, I broke my silence and asked.

"Tasks? Why do I need to listen to you at all?"

"Simple, my race spread nanites across your world, they are in everything, including you. Now that's a good thing because those little nanobots will help you evolve in the way you desire as long as I continue to be your sponsor. The most important reason though is that I am now your Big Sister and your gonna be a good little brother, right?" she asked sarcastically.

Trying to wrap my head around what she was saying and getting the feeling like insects were under my skin when she mentioned the nanobots. My head hurt, my skin itches like I was healing from a sunburn just thinking about tiny machines inside my body, finally she finished explaining it in a way that made no sense at all. Laying back on the floor I muttered one thing that confused me the most.

"Big Sister?"

"That's right. Well you know not by blood but it will be in the way where I watch over you as you grow stronger and get me more points and rewards, plus I always thought of myself as the beautiful big sister type." More giggles came from what seemed like nowhere.

"What?"

"Hush. Now like I was saying before someone interrupted, your world was saved by mine but we aren't your gods, heroes, or anything else. We just need a world at the start of its hyper evolution period to play around with and host the new server for Evo Wars. It's a game where my kind will get a random person or creature and guide it to become the strongest or at least the one alive in the end. I got you but I could of had a dog, ape, or spider instead. Don't you feel honored. Don't worry I can't control you but if I decided your not worth my time I simply stop giving you tasks, that would mean you fall farther and farther behind the rest of the world in its evolution, then you would probably die a painful death."

I got to a point where I just sat there blankly nodding my head when I thought she wanted me to, while trying not to pass out from a splitting headache.

"Don't worry I will explain the Evo system to you later, but right now you need to be prepared for what's about to happen."

"About to happen? What's about to happen?" I uttered, slightly confused.

"The room your in right now is in your mind. Right now your whole world was turned off and is about to be updated, so to speak. The only thing is that to celebrate the start of our new playground there is gonna be a opening battle task. You are gonna fight nine other people in a situation where the first person to say overlord will be the one to try and kill the others and will receive some great prizes, but if the others kill the overlord they all get to go free and get lesser prizes. I want you to say overlord Hunter, I know everything about you including those dark little urges you get. It's a new world and those feelings you have been suppressing, are about to get a wake up call, because you need that overlord prize to get ahead of others I don't manage losers got it. Now you have ten seconds to get ready. Have fun."

"Wait, Wha-"

My vision blurred and I went from a white room to an open arena that reminds you of something from one of those TV shows based on Rome, where their gladiators fight to the death. Looking around I see nine others.

A older man around 50 he looks out of shape with a large potbelly and chubby limbs that seem tiring to move. Looking at his face you can tell he doesn't believe what's happening and is trying to reassure himself that it's all just a dream.

Three guys about my age around 17. Two of them are white with brown hair, one seems to be around 180 centimeters and it really thin with messy, greasy hair you can tell he doesn't usually go out often from the way he slouches his shoulders trying to make himself blend into the background.

The other one is shorter around 160 centimeters but is sturdier built in a way that makes it look like he doesn't play sports but works out in a gym from the way his arms are so much more built then his legs. He had short hair and was seeming to try and calm himself down by putting on a mean face that caused his thick eyebrows to clump together.

The last guy is a tall black man around 210 centimeters and looks like a solid wall. With his deadlocks flowing down to his shoulders he is eyeing each one of us looking calm and to me he looks like the biggest threat in this bunch.

I turn and look over at the five women, the first one is white and in her 20's with strawberry blonde hair the is in a pony tail down to her neck. She isnt tall only around 170 centimeters with a skinny build, she has a cute face that gives off the vibe of freshmen college girl.

The one to her left is hispanic in her 40's looking like a mom, with black hair that is up in a bun and a face that is starting to show her age. She is the shortest one in the arena looking only around 140 centimeters tall and a round build.

Finally the other three are girls that look around 15 or 16 all wearing a catholic school uniform from the school near mine. One of them is white with a small build and around 150 centimeters tall, from her curves she seems to just be budding with curves that make most she will have a stunning body in the future. Her dark brown hair keeps swaying from side to side because she keeps looking back and forth between the other two.

The one on her left is asian with a slim build that is about as curvy as the brunette. She seems to be around 155 centimeters tall, with long black hair that hangs slightly lower than her shoulders. She is looking at her around trying to figure out what is happening but from her clear eyes she seems to be handling it better than the other two.

The last one seems to be indian from her creamy brown skin, and long braided black hair. She is about 160 centimeters the tallest of the three but seems to be the most underdeveloped in other places. She is clearly in a panic from the tears in the corner of her eyes as she keeps trying to hold them back.

They seem to know each other because they keep trying to talk to each other, but they can't seem to make a sound. Which is when I tried to make a sound only to produce the same result. Just as I was wondering what could be happening, now that I can't even follow the task the voice calling herself my big sister gave me a loud and deep voice sounds out.

"WELCOME TO THE BEGGING BATTLE ROYAL. Don't be afraid little humans because this place is only a mental projection that is to help you get accustomed to your new world, and most importantly it's entertainment for us" He paused for a nasally laugh the kind of laugh a spoiled child would have when he finds a new toy he can break. "Listen up because I will explain a few things before we get to watch you come to terms with all this and fight for your survival. Firstly don't be afraid even if you do die which a few will, it's only a fake death and you will still be able to wake up to the new world," He stops for a second round of laughing "don't worry about that. Secondly you should know the rules because they were explained but we shall go from the top shall we? First to say overlord with be the villain in this situation, if more then one says it then they will first fight until one kills the other. When we have our overlord then the others must try to kill him or her before they all get murdered. If the overlord wins he will win a few prizes, if the crowd wins then they will each receive some lesser rewards. Now then to make this even more fun you are able to bet on a few thing such as who will say overlord, will the overlord or the crowd win, how many will survive if the crowd wins, things such as those. Each of you start with 1000 EVO points but be careful because if your bet pays off you could be ahead of the game but if you lose all your points you could fall behind in this new world of life and death. When someone falls behind in a place like that, well let's just say this might be a fake death but the next one definitely will not be." He stops for more laughing, it's getting quite annoying "Now then you have two minutes to decide on your bets, then your voices will be unmuted, I can't wait to see who wins this round. HAVE FUN LITTLE ONES" with this, he begins to laugh again, this time the laugh has a slight edge of insanity to it, the kind of laugh that would make a man uncomfortable.

As soon as the annoying voice settled down, a screen appears before my eyes with different options and odds for betting. I search and find the odds of me saying overlord and winning are ⅕, then looking over I find that the others have much bigger payouts for that option. Seems the system favors me, but when they see my odds, it will make them much more weary of me. With a depressed smile I think about what the voice said before and I figure that at this point it's go big or go home so I put all my points down for me winning this round as the overlord.
