Chapter 61

Recruiting: Floor 2 Boss Mob Raid

*/Z- Greetings fellow adventurers, it is I, Z, of the Knights Who Go Ni. I am reaching out to all of you, to see if any of you brave souls would perhaps be interested in joining in on a grand quest! What quest you say? Well, it sadly isn't for the Holy Grail.

Instead, we have a foe in mind, a foe so terrible, we have nicknamed it the Blasted Beast of Arrrggghhhh, otherwise known as, the Terminus Rex.

As you all know, my guild tried previously to bring this beast down, yet due 'reasons' we failed. We are confident that when we log back in, we shall be victorious, but would like to guarantee that 100%.

This means, we need a few more friends to join in our jolly adventurers!

What we are looking for-

Solo adventurers, or a group of adventurers (we think 5 total would be nice) who are at least level 20 (because we want you to have your subclasses) and who are familiar with the second floor, and have floor 2 gear, are welcome to comment below.

Till the morrow, I look forward to a jolly good time of adventuring with some of you!

**/Birds!- Whelp, there goes another server first

***/Nostre- C'mon noob, you wouldn't have made it there, besides, that boss is tough, have you seen the screenshots they shared?

***/Birds!- Psh, it's only the second floor.

***/MechaKnight2854- Well, I doubt either of you will make it, go back to the farm

**/Troll'd- Hey, my guildmates and I just hit level 21, can we join?

***/Z- Hey, you're that Troll Hunter I've seen with the funny little gnome thief right?

****/Troll'd- That's us.

*****/Z- meet us at the Tipsy Dicken? That's where we are going to be meeting before the raid, we can decide if your team works then.

******/Troll'd- I'll let the guys know!

The list of conversations within Z's thread went on and on, James had just found the portion with Skar's group the most interesting to him. If what he was reading was correct, then Z and Skar's parties were going to be forming a 10-man raid party to take on the Terminus.

"Chat's going to love this." He whispered to himself as he cracked his knuckles, a pointless motion considering there was no one around him.

The Knight's fight against his level 27 Terminus had been epic. The level 24 adventurers had put up a great fight, showing off their teamwork and abilities to a whole new level. However, the upgrades James had given his Terminus had won out in the end. Especially since the Terminus had also been level 27 when they fought it the second time, meaning it's stats had improved nicely.

Excitement filling him, James pulled his DCO app back up. While he was going to put off upgrading all of his mobs en-masse for when he hit Tier 2 Rank 5, he figured he could at least upgrade Terminus. How could he not, now that he knew Z was planning on forming a raid party to take down the boss.

It took him a little longer to get to his mob page and his boss mob's information than usually, as he wasn't as used to using the app as he was to utilizing the UI in game. Mainly because he had a day's worth of use put into the app, whereas he had spent 13 days in game fooling around with his commands and interfaces. Ah well, he got there in the end, and it wasn't like the few seconds were going to cost him anything.

Tier 2 Boss Mob

Steampunk Dino King – Terminus Rex

Lvl 28

HP- 2421

MP-1211

ATK- 319

DEF- 243

Unique Abilities

King of All- Emits a roar every time it loses 20% of its HP. This roar has the chance to stun adventurers for 10 seconds, and cause a debuff that decreases adventurer stats by 15%

Big Head- Utilizes its large mouth to completely consume an adventurer, trapping the adventurer in its mouth for 20 seconds, and dealing 25% of their health in damage.

Little Arms- Utilizes cannons on its arms to launch small grenades. Grenades will detonate on contact with adventurers, or after 10 seconds. Grenades will deal 150 damage in a 5-yard radius, and 50 damage in a 15-yard radius.

James scanned over the basic information on his Terminus, noticing exactly 1 point had been added to each of the stats, just as Steve's achievement had stated. He knew in under an hour, when he hit Rank 5, his boss's stats would all increase by another .05% of the base to the stats, which he had found was the normal increase rate on his boss mobs as they leveled. Additionally, his mobs were all getting a 6% of their base increase to their stats, courtesy of his level 6 Boss Mob research. While his mobs had level caps, limiting their natural growth, James had already figured out that as long as he had time, he could keep giving his mobs even greater stat growth.

He would have to think long and hard about that as he continued to grow. If he got his research too high, even his first floor mobs would be a bit too strong. However, that was a problem for a future him, and he was sure Xander and his precious team would figure something out if that became too much of a problem. Speaking of the developer, James made a mental note to remember to make a tribute to him when he logged back in. The developer had demanded it, but in his high and mighty state, had never actually dictated where or how James make the shrine to the god Y-rax. James was going to have fun with that.

Chuckling, he flicked to the next part of the Terminus's page, pulling up the traits. Unlike in DCO, where all of the information was available to him, in the app, it was broken down, almost like a playing card. Or, more so, like a pokedex entry, considering he even had a graph showing the strengths and weakness of his boss mob, and how far in each area the boss had stats in. This page also showed the fruits of the past three skill points James had put into the Terminus.

Unique Traits

Armor Plating- The Terminus Rex takes 20% less damage from physical attacks. (After Def is applied.)

That trait had been a given. Making a boss with a high damage output, such as the terminus, tankier, seemed like a great idea. Then again, James didn't have to sit on the receiving end of that damage. Ha.

Leather Insulation- The Terminus Rex gains leather insulation throughout, decreasing incoming magic damage by 10%.

Leather insulation was the only option James had to give his boss magic defense. While he hated it only offered a 10% decrease, he figured beggars couldn't be choosers, especially on his second floor. He just really hoped his third floor would offer mages a little more of a challenge. Mainly because, the stronger mages got, the better chance they would have at one-shoting mobs, even of higher level, if they didn't have good magical defenses.

Terminal Fire- The Terminus Rex upgrades its inner core, creating a passive aura of intense heat that damages enemies within 3 yards for .5% current hp per second. Additionally, the inner core will detonate five seconds after defeat, dealing 2x Damage as fire damage in a 5 yard radius, and afflicting all players within a 25 yard radius with dino-aids.

Alright, so maybe that last trait hadn't quite been necessary. In fact, James had originally been debating between a trait called Try-Rex, which gave his boss increased melee attack range, or Godzilla?!!!!, which would have given the terminus a new long range attack, and apparently spiked plating on its back.

Both had seemed great, but the moment James had read Dino-aids, his decision had been made. He had originally thought he developers were just trying to find ways to mess with players. Now that he had met the lead developer, and knew it was X-Ray, he was positive half of the developer team had to be full of trolls. Elite gamers loved a few things, one of which was trolling other players in any way possible. Which is why James was baffled that Xander had kicked Steve off the team. He was sure there was more to it than either Xander or Steve let on, but that wasn't James's problem.

Now, James had a skill point to use upgrading his- he stopped as he looked at the screen, noticing the notification, the 1 that should have been there for the upgrade, wasn't. He glanced back at Steve's achievement, reading through it one last time, before letting out a sigh. Steve's achievement had given all his mobs a free skill point, not his boss mobs.

He let out a groan and prepared to close the window, before a little flash of light flickered onto the screen, and the 1 appeared. Apparently, he had been so caught up in reddit, and reminiscing about his Terminus and how awesome it's abilities had been, that he had lost track of time.

That also meant, he needed to get heading to class, otherwise he may end up being late. And, while the education system really was more of a social construct than useful, showing up late was not on his agenda.

However, he already knew what he was going to add to his Terminus, who was now level 29. There was a skill, that while sounding ridiculous, he was certain would help out, especially now that he knew a raid was coming. Raw power was great, but what you really needed in a fight, especially against multiple organized enemies, was wits of your own. He clicked the skill, reading over it, before closing the window and heading out the door, on his way to the train station. The text was still playing in his mind as he hopped on the train.

Like a Sir- Someone has given the Terminus a Top Hat, with a brain: While the Terminus is wearing this top hat, it's intelligence is greatly increased, enabling more complex attack patterns, as well as advanced features during boss fights. It also looks quite proper.

Unlocks philoso-dino skill tree for dinosaur related mobs on the same floor as the Terminus.
