Chapter 19

It would have been strange, but not for Theo Astorf. The lips, which were tightly closed under the eyes that were flashed with twinkle for an instant, drew a thin arc.

However, while Julia blinked her eyes once, he returned to his  plain expression again. He sat across from her and opened his mouth.

“The assassin you dealt with last night was sent from the Imperial Household. To be precise, it is the work of the Empress.”

“Huh… … … … ?”

Julia frowned.

I couldn’t understand his words. I thought it might not have been him who attempted the assassination, but I also couldn’t believe that the imperial family was behind it. Imperial family ordered this marriage, why the hell?

He read the question on her face and answered calmly as if he were talking to someone else.

“Because you don’t look at me very well, the son of the old woman.”

“Then, isn’t it normal to aim for that side, not me…?”

“It’s not an easy task, so killing me isn’t useless yet.”

It sounded arrogant, but it was blunt, as if telling the very truth. And Julia was convinced inside. Hearing the sound of a monster, the inaction of that archduke was enormous. It was not surprising that he was assassinated again while trying to assassinate. In addition, he was absolutely indispensable to the Empire, which was in the midst of a war of conquest.

“There are  many women who were threatened with death as soon as they got involved with me on the orders of the imperial family. You are number six.”

“And the first five are no longer in  this world.”

Julia’s mouth gradually opened. He looked down for a moment when he saw her expression, making an absurd expression on her face. The shaded eyes seemed to recall the five women of the past for a moment.

But soon, he stared at her again

All.

“You are the first person to welcome me alive without dying.”

That would be amazing too. Julia was finally able to understand a little bit of the situation just before.
