Divine Beast Tamer

In the center part of the village of Oakheart situated at the Southwestern side of the Everlast Forest, a forest that is home to many kinds of beasts, there was a big event that was happening. People were gathering at the center, where a small temple of the Goddess Era, the goddess of life and death, was located.

Among the crowd, a young boy with his noticeable silver hair and silver eyes, as it was very different from the common black and pale yellow hair of the crowd, was currently walking to the center with his face filled with excitement and nervousness.

This young man was Ronald Silvermoon, a resident of the village that became an orphan at the early age of 10.

His father passed away before he was even born and didn't know anything about him as his mother never once told him about his father, but she always said to him that his father was a very amazing person, and his mother died due to an epidemic in the village.

He was living alone since then, he was able to sustain his life by collecting herbs near the Everlast forest then selling it to the merchant that comes in the village monthly.

He learned all these things from his mother, as his mother was an adventurer before she got married. Then after they settled in this village, her mother had stopped doing missions to be with him and guide him as he grows. Her mother collected herbs and replant them in their backyard to sustain their daily life.

But after she died the backyard was left unattended, which cause the herbs and other plants planted by his mother to die with her.

Ronald was very sad at that time, as the backyard was the place where he and his mother bonded most of the time.

He also regretted not listening to his mother when she was teaching him how to take care of the herbs and plants. He tried to revive the liveliness of the backyard by planting some herbs that he got from the Everlast forest, but it failed.

Now, Ronald is 15 yrs old, based on the law of this continent, which was approved by all of the Kings of all kingdoms in this continent, at the age of 15 one can be considered as an adult.

And to celebrate it, the villages, towns, and cities will collect all those who are 15 years old at the end of the year in the temples at their places.

And there, they will be bestowed a maximum of three random skills by the gods and goddesses of this world, as one of the responsibilities of an adult was to protect this world.

Humans weren't the only inhabitants of this world since a great crack appeared in the void near this world. And then beasts, demons, elves, and many other races came out of the crack and decided to invade this huge world.

Humans didn't want to be ruled by other races, so they fought great wars with them, resulting them to lose every war they fought, the gods and goddesses couldn't bear to see the pathetic situation of humans anymore and decided to interfere.

But they can't directly act to exterminate these invaders, so they all decided to improve the strength of the humans. And the solution they got was through leveling, in which the inhabitants of this world can get stronger by killing beings of the other races.

This may look detrimental to humans at first, but as time passes, humans would gain advantage through it. And to do that, the gods and goddesses made arrangements and change the laws of the world and included the status screen in the laws of the world to let the residents of this world see their improvements and decide the direction of their improvements. As this was a world law, all intelligent beings except for the beasts can use it.

Skills are divided into three categories - Bestowed, Acquired and Racial. Bestowed skills are the skills that are bestowed by the gods and goddesses or by some other celestial beings. Acquired skills are skills that are acquired through a specific mastery of an action, while Racial skills are skills that are inherited through a specific bloodline.

In the temple, children are queueing in a long line with their parents that were busy comforting them. Some children were nervous, and some were excited while others have both. Ronald was one of those children that are both excited and nervous as this was his chance to improve his living.

After 40 minutes of waiting it was finally Ronald's turn. He was led to a small room where a statue of a beautiful woman was located. This statue was the statue of the Goddess Era, the goddess of life and death. Beneath her statue was glowing round orb.

"Put both of your hands on the bestowal orb, that is the glowing object beneath the statue. And relax your mind." A bald priest with his hand on his back said to him as he was still in dazed by the beauty of the life-like statue.

He followed what the priest instructed him. He put both of his hands on the glowing orb and relaxed his mind, clearing it from any waves of disturbance which includes his nervousness and excitement.

The orb glowed more brightly. After a short amount of time, words started appearing on the orb.

Ronald was confused on what kind of skill did he get, so, he looked back and went to asked the priest.

But before he got the chance to ask his question, he saw the priest's confused face, and so he got worried.

The priest noticed his actions and saw his worried expression. Therefore the priest consoled the young man in front of him.

"Don't worry young man, there are many different kinds of skills in this world, and many of those are unknown even to us. Maybe, this skill of yours is something very great but needs you to explore and discover it. You can see the description of your skill in your status screen, you just need to focus your mind on it."

After saying this, the priest slowly led him outside and called the next child.

Ronald thanked the priest, while still feeling nervous inside as he walked on his way back home.

He was hoping that this was a good skill.

Feeling nervous, he checked his status screen by saying "status" on his mind.

A transparent blue square with white borders that had words on it appeared in front of him.

This was the status screen that the gods and goddesses made.

Ronald observed the changes in his status screen as he was walking down the road. The status screen was a part of the soul so no one can view other's status screen except if someone had an skill or anything that had the same function as the skill .

At first, Exp wasn't there, but when Ronald turned 15, it suddenly appeared on his status screen. And after he got his skill, he directly got 5 unassigned stat points.

Exp is what needed to be filled to increase one's level, every time a person's level increased, 5 unassigned stat points would be given. Unassigned stat points are points used to upgrade one's stats, everyone who finished their coming of age ceremony will be given 5 unassigned stat points.

Ronald didn't know on what would be the effect of his skill if he activates it, as it wasn't in the description.

He wanted to activate his skill now, but postponed it, as he was still walking on the road, and there were many people around. If his skill would cause harm to his surroundings, then he wouldn't be able to forgive himself.
