202 We'll always be friends Part 1

"DON'T COME IN HERE!" Charley screamed blocking the door. Stopping any year 13s from entering their common room.

"Why not?" Owen asked.

"Because… err…. There is a leak… a big crocodile… that's right… a big one…" Charley threw whatever excuse was the first one in her head. Regretting her choice and wishing she picked something easier to explain.

"Fair enough," Owen said leaving.

"Really? You believed me?"

"Not really." He replied. "But if there was a crocodile in there I'd want you to die so I'm cool with it. I'll go somewhere else."

Charley watched as Owen walked away hoping that he wouldn't turn around. As soon as he was gone from her sights she jumped back in the room and went back to her previous activity, bossing people around.

"ALRIGHT!" She screamed at the group of busy year 12s who were all doing various activities. "WHO WAS LOOK OUT?! YOU ARE SLACKING!"

No one wanted to say. They all looked around at each other and didn't want to point at who it was meant to be. They all were scared of Charley but weren't sure if they'd get rewards for ratling out the person who was meant to be doing their job. She had a firm grasp on the people in this room. None of them were able to go against her.

"We nearly had them finding out about the party." She said, reminding the group what they are doing. "If they find out about this farewell party then it's all for nothing. NOW GET BACK TO WORK!"

"They are definitely having a party," Owen said with his usual group of friends as the three of them ate on the stairs.

"Aw, how nice," Ethan said. "Should be fun."

"I'm looking forward to it," Sean said. "To think it's finally here…"

"Who would have guessed that it would all end tomorrow," Ethan said.

"Graduation is finally here," Owen said relaxing his body in the beams of the sun through the window. "What a crazy ride."

"It's going to be lonely without you all," Sean said forcing Owen and Ethan into a group hug.

"What is that for?" They asked. "We still have tomorrow. It's not like we'll be leaving straight away. Summer is first."

"Y-yeah… summer…" Ethan said cautiously dancing around his words to not worry the others.

"No!" Owen said unsure of what Ethan was doing. "Why are you acting like that?! What are you hiding?!"

He ran up to Ethan even though he was only a step away. His voice was trembling from this mental preparation crumbling down.

"I… I'm leaving on Saturday…"

Owen and Sean looked at him with looks of sadness. They barely lifted their faces to smile at him.

"Does Kaylee know?" Owen asked.

"She does." He replied with confidence.

"I see…"

"Only two days…" Ruby said as she fell to the ground in front of Kaylee who had to help lift her back up.

"What's wrong?" She said,

"I have two days to get Owen to like me…"

"Not really," Kaylee said. Ruby had hoped she understood what Kaylee was just about to say. As if she was aware of Owen's feelings and that she wouldn't have to wait any days.

"You've only got 1 and a half days." She said causing Ruby to collapse again.

"Ugh…" She said curling up into a ball. "What do I do?"

"Just go for it. That's what I did."

"I don't think I'll take your advice," Ruby said as anxiety crawled along her back.

"What if it doesn't work out?" She said. "What if he doesn't like me?"

"Hmm?" Kaylee thought to herself. "It worked out for me, I think? Ethan's leaving on Saturday and I'm terrified about it. Even if Owen doesn't say yes you'll still have me."

Ruby tried to work her way through Kaylee's mixed advice. She somehow gained confidence from it and managed to stand back up.

"ALRIGHT! I'LL TRY MY BEST!"
