Breath Of The Flower

Chapter 8 - Pay attention to your surroundings

"Please die", after muttering those words Enmei sprinted towards the demon, he inhaled quickly and continued,

"Breath of the Flower, Fifth Form: Peony of Futility", a flurry of nine consecutive attacks flowed and weaved in on the themselves hitting the demon head on. It screeched at the painful stabs. Cuts appeared all over its body as it glared at the culprit. It's bulky arm reattached to itself and reached out once more. He swung his arm at the boy but he quickly dodged it. Whilst in the air Enmei became defenceless, allowing the demon to bring its other arm down from above the boy.

"Second Form: Plum Spirit", using rotating sword slashes he deflected the attack.

"DIE DIE DIE DIE", the demon became crazed, swinging it arms at the boy, who quickly found an opening, a simple slash and a head fell to the floor. A strong arm suddenly hit Enmei's side pushing him to the wall. At the last moment the demon pick up it's servant and used it as a scapegoat. The two were too stupid to participate and were just watching their boss get beaten up. Alas, one of them, paid for their stupidity and died. The other one however remained watching. She was wearing an eerie mask that covered one eye.

Enmei cleaned off the blood on the corner of his mouth and stared at the direction of the demon. His hand supporting his rib. The demon charged at him again and continued it's meaningless attacks.

"Fourth Form: Safflower Robe", a single slash ended the demon's life, it's head flew off and banged against the wall while it's body fell motionless on the ground. It screamed and struggled, wanting to return to it's body. But a small hand lifted it up. It's eyes lit up and he screamed happily,

"You! Return me to my body this instant!"

The other demon stared at her comrade for a bit, the red eye peaked from the only eye hole on the mask. Then it curved up into a crescent moon and tightened her hand. *CRACK* the head fell to bits and the demon shattered completely.

Enmei watched their exchange warily, he was moving behind the demon to kill it.

Enmei remained emotionless.

"You must've not know who I am! Of course, of course!" She giggled. Her delicate hands held the mask and pulled it off her face. Red eyed stared at him, an imm.a.t.u.r.e face that looked petite and pretty, black hair neatly framed her face. The small red lips curved into a smile along with the squinting of the eyes. In one eye however were small writings, 'lower moon 6',

"Nice to meet you Enmei-sama, my name is Rina, the lower moon sixth place", not waiting for her to finish Enmei immediately attacked.

"Third Form: Vine Prison", he circled the girl and wrapped her in a series of attacks.

"Fourth Form: Safflower Robe", then a slash. He continuously attacked her, disregarding the bleeding on his back, he couldn't let her attack. But the same bleeding area suddenly ached and a red flowers bloomed out.

"what a coincidence what a coincidence what a coincidence!", she giggled, "I also use flowers, and you use flowers, maybe we were destined! Of course of course!"

The bloody flower burst into shards and stabbed him. His breath was getting heavy and his hands felt weak. 'I can't-', he though desperately. But suddenly he saw it. In his dark, colourless world a small string. It dangled delicately in front of him. He drew his sword in an attempt to cut the string but it moved. He tried again and again but he couldn't. Rina panicked, Enmei suddenly paused and after that he charged directly at her, his sword slashing at her continuously, missing her by a thread. Enmei continued to chase the string. He disregarded his situation and focused on that spot, his whole body was telling him so. The sound of wind slicing through the air went towards his leg, he managed to dodged that. Then it continued to his arms, he also dodged that. This continued until Rina, in her panic stepped on the demon boss' clothes and slipped. Her eyes widened then quickly focused, her hands clasped together and more flowers started blooming on the cuts on Enmei's body, she smirked and released her hands, the flowers bursted and even more shards dug into his skin. It happened in an instant, just within the time of the slip. This would cause Enmei to flinch and she would escape. But instead he continued, his whole body bleeding like crazy but his sword remained still, reaching towards it's destination, finally the string snapped, along with a head. Rina couldn't understand what was happening. She had finally became a pillar, but was beaten by a 12 year old boy. It felt too quick. Her body started shattering into pieces and her eyes teared up, she didn't want to die, she looked at the boy and emotionless eyes stared down at her.

"May the light guide you...", she heard his soft voice. Instead of release she felt those words were mocking her. He didn't mean it. His eyes were indifferent to her suffering. She closed her eyes and felt her life flashing before her eyes. A small girl laying on the surface of a forest, staring up from the bottom of a cliff, her arms were holding a small flower. She was dying but she met him, cold red eyes stared at her and offered her blood, she was saved.

"QUICKLY I HEARD SOMETHING!!", people suddenly bursted into the warehouse as soon as Rina disappeared. What they saw was a half dismantled girl and a bloody boy. The boy was holding a katana, it was illegal to have weapons, the girl was dead. The boy killed the girl, they immediately assumed.

"Follow him!", he screamed angrily at the men.

It was getting harder to breath. Each inhale felt like a needle stabbing into his lungs, his legs were getting weaker, he had finally lost the pursuers but at this rate they might catch up. Judging by the thinness of the air, he was three quarters up the mountain. The steps slowed down and his body wavered, blood stained the white snow. His legs finally caved in and his body fell forward.

A young boy was walking up the mountain after finally selling off all his charcoal. He had heard earlier that day that a young girl disappeared from home and should be wary. So he decided to be extra careful but the distinct smell of blood stopped his thoughts, making him run towards the source, there he saw a boy, a little older than him laying in the cold snow.
