Boss from another world

35 I get knocked down...

"Alright I'll move it now." Came the reply.

"Good. Now what do these impatient bastards want." Jacob muttered as he reached for the door.

Dante stood in front of a clean white door his knuckles red as he kept banging on the door. "Hurry up I haven't got all day." Dante mumbled underneath his breath.

"Maybe he's not in." Poppy suggested.

"He's in just a slow guy." Dante replied as he went back to banging on the door. "Hey could I borrow one of those tomahawks?"

"Why?" Poppy asked handing one over.

"If something doesn't open go through it." Dante said as he wrapped his hand over the handle doing a few practice swings before he spaced his feet apart and wound up for a big swing.

Creak. The door opened and the face of a pissed burly man filled the space between the door and the doorpost. Dante froze mid swing before slowly moving his arms behind his back so it looked like he was clasping his hands.

The mans face seemed to scan above them looking for something as he was just about to close the door Dante coughed "down here."

The man had a face of surprise as he looked down to see two children on his door step one in a demonic mask and on other with red splotches everywhere they were an odd pair for sure. "What do you want?" The man asked curtly.

"Are you mr Whiting?" Dante answered the question with another question.

"Yes, What do you want?" Jacob repeated the question again.

Dante stayed silent as he quickly passed the tomahawk in his hand back to Poppy before he spread his hands out and resumed speaking. "We have come to talk about you finances so can we come in?"

Jacob had a thoughtful expression on his face before silently opening up the door leading the pair into a clean but bare hallway. Dante walked confidently into the hallway trying to ease his nerves as he looked around. "Nice place you have here." He said trying to make a little small talk.

Jacob grunted as he closed the door with a dull thump before saying with out room for disagreement "we will have this discussion in my study."

"That's fine." Dante replied as he followed the man into his study slipping his hand into his jacket pocket and uncapped the chili powder.

Jacob sat down behind the desk and motioned for Dante to sit down as Poppy closed the door he then asked "what do you want?"

Dante remained standing observing the man in front of him with his square jaw, reset nose his eyes had bags under them showing his lack of sleep and worry lines were digging further into his forehead. The graying hair and desolate eyes showed the signs of a breaking man. Taking a deep breath Dante said in an emotionless voice. "Mr Scaletta wants his money back."

Jacobs brows furrowed "how much does he want?"

"$5,500" Dante replied.

Everything in the room seemed to slow down the only thing that could be heard was the methodical ticking of the clock on the wall above Jacobs head. He sighed dispelling the growing silence as he stood up and turned around lifting his head and stared at the clock. "Can I get more time?" He asked slowly.

"No he wants it today." Dante said turning his head and motioning with his head at Poppy who hopefully understood things were going to get ugly.

"I see." Jacob said sighing as he turned around again and spreading his hands on the desk.

"Where is the money?" Dante asked slowly.

"Money. money. money that's all you monsters want isn't it? Well it's either that or sex, alcohol and death." Jacob said in a stricken tone tears falling from his face.

Dante chuckled darkly. "That's because sex, death and money make this depraved world go round and alcohol is there to make it bearable."

Jacob raised his head. "I see." He said quietly he then lunged at Dante who leapt backwards taking an uncapped bottle out and throwing a cloud of powder into Jacobs face.

Jacob howled in pain as his eyes seared in pain as he backed up holding onto his eyes.

Poppy then charged into the fray jumping onto the desk to then tackle Jacob. They both went down with a dull thud writhing on the floor until Jacob felt the kiss of cold steel on his skin.

Dante walked back to his original position and was just about to say something when the door opened with a bang interrupting him he turned towards the sound only to find a baseball bat striking his chest.

Pain coursed through Dante as he fell into the glass cabient with a resounding crash as he slid to the ground his head ringing he could faintly hear Poppy screaming out "Lucifer!" In a worried tone. Everything seemed to be drowned out as he got back onto his feet and focused on his opponent a child with blonde hair and emerald eyes and a face that had a look of grim determination.

Dante coughed a couple times his chest was filled with a throbbing pain every time he breathed he coughed once more. The pain seemed to be like a match as it sent off a bonfire that was Dante's wrath. Maybe it was his pride or maybe it was his bottled up emotions but somewhere Dante could feel something.

bending.

breaking.

shattering.

Slowly oh yes ever so slowly.

"Hit me." Dante growled at the child who was trembling with the bat. "Come on hit me." Dante repeated. "Hit me. Hit me. Hit me." Like a mantra as he slowly walked forwards the child in front gripped the bat tighter as Dante roared. "Hit me!" As he barrels forwards towards the child. The child cried out as he swung the bat. Dante grabbed it with his right hand pushing it out of the way as he hammered his left fist into the side of the child's face knocking him backwards as he lost grip on the bat.

Dante grabbed the boy by the shoulders as he bent him over as he began pummeling the boy with his knee striking the air out of the boys lungs. As the boy clutched his stomach gasping in pain Dante took his right hand and grabbed the back of the boys head.

A crack resonated through out the room as Dante smashed the boys face onto on of the book shelf edges. Another crack and another. Blood poured out of the boys nose who barely seemed to be conscious as Dante held his head back up this time grabbing him by the throat with his left hand. Dante then lifted the boy off his feet before he crushed him into the floor.

Dante stood there panting over the lying boy a dull thump made Dante look over to see Poppy tripping Jacob up with one of his tomahawks and then sitting a top him with the blades once again pressed against Jacobs neck.

Dante grabbed the the fallen boy by the collar and dragged him over "where is the money?" Dante asked in a hoarse voice.

Jacob stayed silent as if weighing his options.

Dante sighed as he took out his knife flicked the blade up and pressed it against the the boys throat and asked again. "Where is the money?"

Jacob slumped down defeated "its in the room upstairs, second along under the mattress."

"See it wasn't so hard now was it." Dante said dragging the rag doll in his hands to the stairs before unceremoniously dumping him. "Second room along." Dante muttered to himself as he climbed the stairs each step was more painful as the last.

Reaching the top panting Dante opened the door next to him. He slowly walked inside the adrenaline was wearing off now as more pain began rearing it's ugly head making it harder to move. The room seemed like a guest bedroom it was bare say for the bed and a wardrobe there was nothing that personalized the room as Dante stepped further inside.

He reached the bed only to find a frail woman sleeping. "Must be the wife." Dante muttered sadly he didn't take pride or joy in his actions to him it was a business transaction for his survival and whilst he felt sympathy for the family he would chose himself over strangers.

Dante noticed a black briefcase poking out from under the bed. He opened it in it were stacks of money all tied together neatly he counted it $6,000 taking out $500 he placed it on the bed as his condolences. He then sealed the briefcase and walked back downstairs slowly with the pain still coursing through him.

Dante went back into the study to find Jacob still lying there with Poppy on top of him. "Pass me a tomahawk Poppy." Dante demanded with a tone less voice. Poppy obliged handing a tomahawk to him and getting of Jacob. Dante handed the briefcase to Poppy and then smacked Jacob across the face with the hammer end of the tomahawk with a sickening crunch.

"I don't like being lied to." Dante said in an annoyed voice as he came closer to the sprawled out Jacob who was clutching his mouth gasping in pain. Dante raised the tomahawk and swung downwards shattering Jacobs kneecap releasing a scream of pain. "I also don't like people wasting my time." Dante said cruelly as he raised the tomahawk and swung again shattering Jacobs other kneecap making the screams go an octave higher.

Dante handed the tomahawk back to Poppy in exchange for the breifcase and then proceeded to leave the house with a chorus of screams behind him.
