It was after I discovered a new combat style.

Having come up with a new idea, I journeyed to a place called ‘Gorgeous City Nakatsukuni’ riding my familiar, ‘Wolf King’.

On the strategy guide site, it was described as an elegant, Japanese-style city. I was going to find a certain player who was based there.

Urutaro was excited at finally being summoned after a long time, and he ran as fast as he could for dozens of minutes, when…

“Oh, we made it! So this is ‘Gorgeous City Nakatsukuni’!”

…a humongous torii gate welcomed us!

Beyond it was an Edo-era townscape that looked like something you’d see in a Taiga drama (historical drama), and there was even a huge stone-walled castle in the middle of the town!

“Whistle~, no wonder so many people love it here…!”

Without further ado, I entered and looked around the town.

Like the name suggested, the city was truly ‘Gorgeous’.

Cherry blossoms bloomed everywhere and under the trees, many merchant NPCs in kimonos were hawking their wares cheerfully, “Cheap stuff, cheap stuff! Come and get some!”

“This isn’t half-bad! I can see myself living here! Okay, time to look for that guy!”

And so, I was strolling around the town while leisurely sightseeing, when all of a sudden…

“Hm?! This woman, what an evil aura! Everybody, there’s a villain here! Hurry and capture her!”

[Uoooooooooooooooooooooooooo!]

…Eeeh.

About a minute after entering the city, I was surrounded by patrol NPCs dressed like Shinsengumi.

Wait, am I going to get arrested again?!?!?!

“Harharharhar! So that’s why you were taken away by the NPCs!”

“Stop laughing!”

A few minutes later. I was walking around town with a certain samurai player.

He was the one whom I had been planning to look for. Just when I was about to be thrown into prison again, the guy came and bailed me out.

“Geez, capturing an innocent foreigner without so much as giving them a chance to plead their case, don’t you think they were awful, Zansword? And I’m a hero of justice.”

“Fuh, nice joke, Yuri.”

“I’m not joking, dammit!”

Yeah. The person I’d been looking for was one of my rivals, the samurai player Zansword.

We had a really great time at the event the other day.

“If you get arrested in Nakatsukuni again, don’t be reserved to contact me. I have conquered the quests in this city and as a result, I have been bestowed the status ‘Daimyo Samurai’ by the city lord. I can appeal against the decisions of the patrols, that is as long as I am not the guilty one.”

“Hee…!”

So there were such perks for clearing quests.

“The lord of this city is generous, you know? They even rewarded me with an old castle to use as my guild house. What is your city lord like?”

“Oh, Pope Gregory, eh. He was an annoying bastard, so I killed him!”

“…Come to think of it, that’s the case.”

I watched the stream, and I must say it was quite shocking, said Zansword as he recalled how I conquered ‘Sacred City Helheim’.

Hey, hey, why is your face twitching? Didn’t the stream cover how the hero of justice Yuri-kun led the prisoners to kill the evil pope?

“Ahem! So, Yuri, what brings you here?”

“Well, I’m actually here for you, Zansword. I… was hoping to learn swordplay from you.”

“What…?!” Zansword was taken by surprise at my words.

Well, no wonder. I was known as an archer.

“You see, I evolved my second job to Battle Maker, and now I can equip the sword, too. So, in case the need arises, I would like to be able to use the sword in close combat.”

“Fumu, I see. But Yuri, you put all your stat points in Luck, didn’t you? With that being the case, you can’t wield a good sword, and without a good sword, you can only deal a negligible amount of damage, can’t you…?”

“No worries, I’ve already got that covered. Come out, Ponkuro and Ponjuro!”

““Kishashaaa!””

In response to my call, two ‘Beginner Swords’ appeared from the empty space.

“Hou, I see,” Zansword nodded seeing them, “you moved your familiars from the arrows to the swords…! With their Strength added to the swords’ attack power, you can deal a fair amount of damage.”

“You bet. Beginner sets don’t have any stats requirement to equip, so I can wield them.”

I grasped the jet-black light-clad swords in each hand.

Fufufu, if you’re a man, dual-wielding is the only way to go! I’m getting hyped up!

“I’ve got the ‘Demon King’s Surge’ skill that increases impact and the ‘Absolute Zero’ skill that increases damage dealt with beginner weapons, so even if my Strength is zero, I won’t lose to melee jobs!”

“Hou, you have big guts to say so to a samurai like me…! Well then, I am going to teach you how to wield the sword and knock you off your high horse while I’m at it!” Zansword pulled out his sword. I totally destroyed him at the event the other day, but it seemed he didn’t lose his unyielding spirit. I’d expect no less from a guy I recognized as my rival!

“Okay, that’s the way I like it! Then, let’s not waste any more time and fight!”

And so, we engaged in a sword fight to our heart’s content in the middle of the glamorous city!
