Chapter 561: 138. Grey Mist Arena

Chapter 561 One hundred and thirty-eight. Grey Mist Arena

The investigator went to the excavation site in the Tashufik area to investigate.

There were two episodes during   : the wives or brothers of a dozen workers and an exorcist tried to enter the gray fog. The exorcist had said before his disappearance that he did not feel the evil aura from the gray fog, but that he felt uneasy and empty.

In another episode, after the exorcist goes missing, a grieving worker's wife climbs a gondola that leads to the bottom of the excavation, trying to die with her husband.

When the personnel guarding the excavation site reacted, the gondola had already rushed into the gray fog. They tried to pull the gondola back, and were surprised to find that the worker's wife was still in the gondola, holding her knees and trembling.

The next day, the investigator arrives, the brother of Keig Foley.

He asked the frightened worker's wife, and only got fragmented information. For example, after entering the gray fog, the surroundings seemed to be empty, as if the roar of a beast echoed far below, and the voices of many people gathering together to whisper.

Knowing that entering the gray fog from other places may be dangerous, Keig Foley's brother chose to ride the gondola to enter the gray fog range. In order to restore the experience of the worker's wife to the greatest extent, he didn't even bring an oil lamp, and sat on a hanging basket and was sent into the gray fog.

Like the exorcist and the worker's wife who had lost contact with him before, the first thing the investigators who entered the gray fog area felt was the emptiness inside, and even the slightest sound would trigger a valley-like echo that reverberated far away. The gray fog with extremely low visibility also made it difficult for his eyes to reach more than ten meters away.

Investigator felt like it was another world in the recovery. Empty, dead, lifeless world.

He had to be as quiet as possible, listening to the sounds in the mist.

Investigators began to hear eerie echoes of the whispers of many people. The source appears to be below, and can't be determined.

As the gondola sank into the gray fog, the whispering soon began to be replaced by what the worker's wife described as a "beast-like roar". Rather than the roar of the beast, the investigators believed it was the sound of many strange sounds. They came from far away from the abyss below the hanging basket.

The gondola advanced to a distance of about 300 meters, and the strange sound gradually faded away, and was replaced by a heavy, slow heartbeat echoing through the gray fog.

The investigator found that his heart rate was being infected by the dull heartbeat and became slow.

The gondola advanced to a distance of about 500 meters, where the investigator voluntarily stopped the gondola and determined that the gray fog was probably no longer the original world.

The distance from the edge of the excavation site to the bottom of the pit is about 430 meters, and the investigator who has already traveled 500 meters on the gondola has already passed the bottom of the pit—he should be 50 meters below the ground now.

And the beating of the heart subsided, and this time, there are many peeps that seem to be there.

The beings in the gray fog have already sensed his intrusion.

Investigators who sensed the danger stopped going further and started pulling the gondola to return to the original path.

The sense of peeping has never disappeared, the heartbeat, weird noises, and whispers on the road no longer sound, and only the sound of pulling the hanging basket is left in the silent gray fog.

However, Keig Foley knew about the incident, which means that the investigators returned to the ground safely.

When he returned, he wrote down the information and started the second exploration the next day, but this time he just entered the gray fog, and those peeping feelings suddenly came.

   They remember the investigator.

After a brief hesitation, the investigator chose to leave the gray fog and stay at the excavation site to observe.

On the fifth day, Keig Foley's brother learned about the origin of the excavation site. During this period, he once let daring workers ride a hanging basket into the gray fog. Their experience was the same as his first entry, and they all heard many whispers.

During the observation period, there was no sign of the gray fog spreading, but in the middle of the night on the sixth day, the sling pulled into the gray fog suddenly vibrated, and the shaking frequency became more and more frequent, as if something was climbing out of the gray fog along the sling.

The terrified guards woke the exorcists, who cut the slings. The rope was twisted into the gray fog like a living creature before, restoring calm.

Kig Foley's brother was observing the excavation for another week, and everything returned to calm as the only way to the gray fog world was broken.

The investigator stopped observing and sent the incident record to the investigator base.

"The final result of the investigator's treatment was that the excavation site was marked as a dangerous area, and the residents of Black Gold Town, which was less than ten miles away, were moved to the city of Rielstein, sixty miles away."

Kig Foley finished the story and took a sip of the boiled spinach soup.

"This can't be considered a story." Ma Fulin glanced at Lu Li, who was thinking, and said to Keigh Foley.

Kig Foley said indifferently: "It's all exorcists, don't weird events attract us more than stories?"

"Who perfunctory us with the story last time?" Ma Fulin asked with a smile, looking at Rod Tesla: "Then it's my turn?"

Rod leaned carelessly against the hot rock: "Whatever."

"In Wayne Ford, in the northeastern part of the kingdom of Ellen, there is a story of the death arena called Sarah and Adam."

Lu Li in the wheelchair and Anna under the cloak were slightly startled at the same time.

The swaying bonfire concealed Lu Li's slightly frowning expression, and only Rhode, who was interested in observing Lu Li, noticed something.

As evil spirits, their existence dates back two hundred years. It may not be notorious in Wayneford County, but it's pretty easy to get people talking.

They roam the county of Wayneford, occasionally appearing to occupy unoccupied houses, and then start their game: Arena of Death.

Innocent victims who are caught will be locked up in the house to participate in their game.

The game played by    usually changes according to the type of house. If it is an ordinary house, the game type is simple hide-and-seek - maybe the victims play by themselves, maybe Sarah and Adam join it...

Factories or larger buildings, the game type will also change. It's usually a very simple game with a hint of weirdness: cleaning the house, finding certain items within a certain amount of time.

The reason it's called "Sarah and Adam's Death Arena" instead of "Sarah and Adam's Game of Death" is that the victims need to compete against each other.

And the best performers are saved from death and out of the game.

Of course, sometimes there are accidents, such as no one who is the best and no one survives. Or multiplayer out of the game.

That's why they're more famous - if there were some kind of evil spirits that people didn't survive encounters with, no one would know about them.

This is also the essential difference between evil spirits and evil spirits. The former is full of unprovoked malice towards humans, the latter does not target humans, they just use humans as... playthings.

It sounds like the latter is worse, but for humans who encounter weirdness, they would rather be a plaything to bet on to survive.
