Chapter 539: One hundred and sixteen. Peaceful refuge

Chapter 539 One Hundred Sixteen. Calm Refuge

Remi accompanies many children for a while, and returns to the cave to continue preparing food.

"give it to me."

Lu Li said to Jimmy who was debugging the radio, took it from the thick claw, and adjusted the frequency to the exorcist radio.

The Elm Forest is too far from the city to receive regular broadcasts - especially after the disaster hit Belfast.

Maybe the only exorcist broadcast that can be received now, maybe none at all.

The cacophony of all noise faintly sounded against the background of bizarrely shifted vocals.

  【…Shasha…survived…from…Shasha…Sim…]

After fine-tuning for tens of seconds, the human voice in the radio can cover up the noise.

The Exorcist Radio is broadcasting the Belfast events.

Put the radio back on the low table between the reclining chairs. Lu Li and Jimmy, and Anna, who returned to Lu Li's side, quietly listened to the messages from the radio.

Some of the residents who survived last night have left the city and were picked up by the Exorcist Alliance on the back of Mount Sugard. But until now, less than a hundred people have been rescued.

The Exorcists United are discussing whether to enter Belfast to rescue survivors.

In addition, Exorcist Radio advises survivors who are listening to the radio to try to escape the city before sunset, or find a relatively safe hiding place.

They discovered that the strange existence on the sea has not left - after the sunset, the strange fog will once again envelope the ruins of Belfast.

It was nearly eight in the morning, and the vegetable soup and grilled meat that Remy had cooked were ready, and were carried to the lounge chair along with the desk at the refuge.

Remi told Lu Li that there should be a chimney at the refuge. Although the smoke from the fireplace wafts out of the cave, some pungent smoke remains.

That might have some effect on Lu Li's body.

Knowing this, Anna agreed before Lu Li could answer, and would later dig a chimney out of the cave from the rock wall.

Ana picked up the spoon, blew away the rising heat, and handed it to Lu Li's mouth: "Ah~"

   "I can move."

Lu Li raised his arm slowly, and was pushed back to the original position by Anna: "Are you going to spend a morning to eat?"

Although it was awkward, Lu Li still accepted Anna's care.

After returning from hell, Anna's character was indeed uncharacteristic.

understandable. This has something to do with what Lu Li said, and it has something to do with her worrying about her long stay in hell.

Although Ana's behavior is somewhat tough, like going from one extreme to the other. But it's better than losing yourself and being a shadow of yourself.

Lu Li thought and opened his mouth slightly.

Ana lifted the corners of her lips and fed them carefully, the tenderness in her eyes almost melted away.

The hot soup was swallowed, and the spreading heat dissipated the coolness brought by the sea breeze blowing on the top of the cliff.

Anna Jimmy also ate very little, he said that it was enough just to feel that he was still a human being. Remy was a little envious, because like Anna, she couldn't eat and couldn't taste anything.

After eating, half of the food was left, Remi took the desk and food to avoid the difficulty.

It's only a dozen degrees today, and it won't be broken tomorrow.

Next is building a new home for the “kids”. It took the Jimmy siblings a day and a half to build the hut, but this time with Anna's help, it would be faster.

Anna went to find elms that were completely dead and brought them back. Remy retrieved the remaining tools and nails for trimming the cabin, and cleared a clearing by the clifftop entrance.

A chalet similar to Remi Jimmy's was fully erected in two hours.

Looking from the top of the cliff, you can see an elm building among the withered trees, a close-by forest hut.

Remi led the "children" to visit the new home, but they stayed by Lu Li's side, lying at his feet, or playing around.

It's hard to imagine the peace of mind that a group of charred monsters that would otherwise be horrifying and disgusting would bring.

"Some quilts are missing, but I don't think they'll need them," Remy said.

There is no furniture in the room, only a rough wooden bed made of leftover wood on which all the children can lie down.

"There are some spares in the cellar, which can be used for them." Lu Li said.

Remi did as he said, retrieved the quilt and placed it on the wooden bed.

The "children" gathered around seemed to recall something, jumped on the bed, arched their jaws on the quilt, and then rolled around and played, regardless of how much mud was stained on the clean quilt.

Remi watched this scene with relief, like watching a group of ordinary playful children.

This is why she trusts and appreciates Lu Li.

As the morning approached, the sky became darker than in the early morning.

A gloomy rain cloud is coming from the sea.

Lu Li and Jimmy were sent to the cave, and half an hour later, the misty rain curtain fell.

【"This rain will cool down the flames in Belfast.""Hopefully it won't last too long, it will be terrible for the survivors."]

The radio broadcasts the conversation of the announcer at the right time.

The rainy season is coming to an end, this should be the last rain of summer.

It is inevitable that the rain will bring cooling down, but this rain will not affect Lu Li.

In front of the entrance to the cave, Lu Li and Jimmy were leaning on the reclining chairs, covered with blankets, and the hot tea at hand was misty. Occasionally, a damp and cold wind blew into the cave, and was dissipated by the warmth of the fireplace deep in the cave.

Looking at the lead-like rain curtain, Lu Li remembered something he had temporarily abandoned: the reservoir.

The reason for   's abandonment is simple: even if a cistern is dug out of the hard rock, the rainwater accumulated over time will seep into the ground and cannot be stored for a long time. The top of the cliff is at the highest point of the elm forest, and the lakes and rivers in the forest are also difficult to attract.

Distilled seawater can only accumulate a small amount of fresh water, barely enough for Lu Li and Jimmy to drink.

So what if rainwater is stored in another way?

Lu Li told Anna and Remi his thoughts on whether they could use their abilities to store water.

Ana can do it, but it can't be sustained unless she keeps control of her ability to hold up the rain.

Remi also regretted that she had no choice.

For the time being, they can only use the only three wooden barrels placed outside the cave to hold rainwater.

After a while, Lemi, who was worried that the cabin would leak, left the cave.

Her and Jimmy's cabin was still dry, but the "children's" log cabin was leaking, so came back with tools and sealed several leaks along with the windows. Unless the complete glass can be recovered, Remy does not plan to unblock the window for the time being.

The rain became heavier in the afternoon, and after a while, it turned back to light rain, and finally subsided until dusk.

Shortly after, Remy came back and told Lu Li and the others that the mist was rising again from the sea.

As night falls, the eerie fog returns, shrouding the silent Belfast and Elm Forest.

Lu Li returned to the deepest refuge.

Jimmy and the "children" stayed in the cave to rest.

A day of peace and tranquility has passed.

At least for them on the top of the cliff.
