Chapter 67 - Transferring To Another Class?

Don't know where my editor went, so two unedited chapters. They're very  raw, careful

Still haven't forgotten about making the two chaps up, so wait for that

"Boss, you okay?" Kang Xiaobo hadn't recovered from the excitement yet- the past two days were the manliest days in his life! He'd read somewhere that fighting was one of the must do things for men before they reached thirty. It didn't seem a realistic goal for him anymore, and he was just about to give it up when the unexpected happened.

Xiaobo's overwhelming excitement had almost gotten him in trouble, as well- he'd be sent to the police station along with Lin Yi if his boss hadn't stopped him.

It wasn't the same for Lin Yi- he was on a mission, and going to school was merely a part of his bodyguard detail. It was an odd assignment, for sure, but Lin Yi still failed to find anything out of the ordinary for a mission Old Lin claimed could set him up for life.

Xiaobo, on the other hand, wouldn't recover too well from a mark on his record- that kind of thing was for life.

"I'm fine, the police figured it out- Heibao's the one who led the gangsters into the school." Lin Yi noticed Zhong Pinliang's ears perk up not too far away, amused. That guy had probably been panicking about Heibao pulling his name out in the questioning.

"That's good." Xiaobo let out a breath of relief. He hadn't went with the police along with Lin Yi, and he was afraid that Lin Yi would mind- But Lin Yi was fine, and Xiaobo was glad for that. "Boss, maybe we can celebrate a little? I can treat to something after school."

"After school? We'll see, I guess." Lin Yi said as he glanced at Mengyao sitting in front of him- he still had to go back with the two of them; eating with Xiaobo after school wasn't really an option for him.

Ms Liu entered the classroom for the first morning class. She had a guess that Zhong Pinliang was responsible for what had happened earlier, but she kep quiet regardless- a neat, peaceful conclusion to incidents like these was the way to go. She didn't want to interrupt the other students, or cause any trouble for them.

"Exams are coming up, we're doing a little pop quiz today." Ms Liu said as she passed out the test papers.

Twelfth grade consisted essentially of one small quiz every two days and a big one every week. Everyone didn't complain about the frequency of the tests; it was something they had gotten used to already. The incident earlier this morning brought unconventional entertainment to school life, but the students were in no position to be filling their minds with things like 'entertainment', not at this golden period of their life.

The incident had brought them a taste of startlement and shock, but it was a mere detour in their paths as committed students. This mentality, naturally, didn't apply to the delinquents.

An English test paper was passed down to Lin Yi- It was his strongest subject. Someone like him were expected to have even more languages fluently under his belt, considering the scale and types of missions he went on.

Lin Yi didn't want to attract unwanted attention by aceing the test; getting something like a C or B in an elite class like this was more than enough for a good college. Lin Yi didn't see the point in getting overwhelmingly good grades, as a result.

He didn't forget his current position- he was attending school for Mengyao's sake, in the frist place. There was a very possible chance that he'd drop out someday, especially when Mengyao was actively trying to rid herself of him.

With that in mind, Lin Yi made sure to mess up an entire sections intentionally after answering everything else correctly. He handed the paper in along with Xiaobo, when he was done.

"Boss, how was it? It's pretty hard this time around, there's quite a few words in there I don't know!" Xiaobo's grades were only mediocre.

"It was okay." Lin Yi said with a smile. "Didn't do that well.

"Well, education in the cities is better than the education you find in villages, so the tests are a bit harder as well." Xiaobo said as he tried to console Lin Yi, assuming that he hadn't adapted yet. "You'll get used to it."

"Yeah." Lin Yi said with a nod, not bothering to explain anything. He liked Xiaobo as a friend, but there were too many things he couldn't say to the guy.

They lived in different worlds, after all.

It was the second afternoon class when a messenger knocked on the classroom doors- Wang Zhifeng wanted to talk with Zhong Pinliang, Zhang Naipao, Gao Xiaofu, and LIn Yi.

Lin Yi didn't think much of it, straightening up and walking out the classroom with a couple steps. Xiaobo, on the other hand, was worried that Lin Yi might get penalized- something like that was a pretty big deal in the final year of high school.

But Lin Yi wasn't concerned about that at all. He had Wang Zhifeng's secret, after all, and his files and personal information were all faked- he was here on a mission, and going to school with Princess Chu was a mere part of it. Getting penalized wouldn't affect him in the slightest.

Zhong Pinliang's face was silent as he hesitated. He stood up awhile later, and Naipao and Xiaofu followed suit- the three of them made their way out of the classroom right behind Lin Yi.

Pinliang stopped his lackeys after leaving the room. He turned to them. "Listen, if Wang Zhifeng asks us about what happened earlier, we'll all say that we had no idea what was going on- Lin Yi must've pissed Heibao Bro off, and the guy came to school looking for him. We happened to know Heibao Bro, so we pointed him to Lin Yi when asked. That's as far as our involvement goes, got it!"

Naipao and Xiaofu were worried that they'd get penalized for Pinliang's actions- their famillies weren't as powerful, after all. Zhong Pinliang might come out unscathed, whereas the two of them coud just end up as capegoats.

They nodded immediately upon hearing Pinlaing's command.

Zhong PInliang turned his gaze to the Lin Yi before him, his fist shaking as he glared. It was all thanks to this transfer student that he'd lost face over and over again.

He never expected Lin Yi to be this strong- his usal strategy of handling things with fists were completely useless on someone like him.

Wang Zhifeng didn't buy what Pinliang, Naipao, and Xiaofu were saying, naturally. The police had sent him news- Heibao Bro was the security captain of Zhong Pinliang's father's nightclub, after all… Why on earth would nightclub security come to a school, charging at Lin Yi for trouble?

Whatever the case, it was simply impossible to think that Zhong Pinliang wasn't involved in the incident. Wang Zhifeng, however, had went to the principal for advice a while earlier, and he'd been told to keep things as contained and peacefully settled as possible. There was Pinlaing's background to take into consideration, and there was also the fact that Heibao Bro had admitted to everything already. There was simply no reason for Wang Zhifeng to make an enemy, with all this in mind.

He responded with a simple lecture before sending the students back to class, leaving Lin Yi behind.

Wang Zhifeng didn't bother asking Lin Yi about the events this morning- the guy was clearly the victim, despite what he'd done to Heibao Bro.

There was but one reason Lin Yi remained. "Lin Yi, I know how Zhong PInliang and his group are like, but there's a limit to what the school can do because of their family connections. Here's what I can do for you, if you'd like- I could transfer you to another class."

Chapter 68 - Words of Courage

Lin Yi was recommended into the school by Chu Pengzhan. Understanding this, Wang Zhifeng had hoped to give his aid to Lin Yi wherever possible- class five wasn't the only elite class, after all. There was still class six, right across class five. Transferring Lin Yi there would prevent further conflict between Zhong Pinliang and him.

Lin Yi barely managed to hold in a laugh- Wang Zhifeng was worried that Zhong Pinliang and his boys would cause him trouble!

His sole purpose in school was to accompany Mengyao, and transferring to another class without Mengyao would be utterly pointless.

Lin Yi also reckoned that the three delinquents would leave him alone for now- he really didn't think of them as anything other than flies.

"Thanks, but I'm fine, Mr. Wang. Class five's pretty good, and I've just settled in, so there's really no need for that." Lin Yi refused politely.

"Is that so? Well, don't be afraid to report to the school if anything should happen. We'll take care of it." Wang Zhifeng left it at that- there wasn't any point in insisting.

Although, he did expect Zhong Pinliang and his group to lay low for the time being.

The results from the English test came out during study hall at night. Xiaobo was complaining about how difficult the test was, but an elite class really was different- Quite a lot of the students got over 130 out of 150. Xiaobo scored 111, while Lin Yi got 109.

Naturally, Lin Yi did that on purpose- staying a little below the mid-level was optimal for keeping attention away.

What shocked Lin Yi, however, was the fact that one of the 130s included Mengyao and Yushu.

So these two princesses aren't the dumb type, huh. Lin Yi contemplated.

"Not bad, boss! That's quite high for your first time!" Xiaobo praised, startled as well- Lin Yi was only two points lower than him.

"Got lucky, I guess." Lin Yi felt that he'd still scored too high, especially considering the difficulty of the questions.

"So, about that dinner? It's my treat you know." Xiaobo said, bringing his offer up again.

"How bout during the weekend? I live pretty far from here, and I can't get back if I stay too late." Lin Yi said apologetically.

"Hmm… You're right, there's only that few bus stops around here. See you in the weekend, then?" Xiaobo said, evidently misunderstanding Lin Yi's words.

Lin Yi liked Xiaobo's character, and he'd really prefer not having to lie to him, if possible, but the guy was making assumptions on his own- Lin Yi, of course, wasn't about to make any corrections. Although, what he said wasn't technically untrue; Mengyao did live pretty far away from school, and Li Fu couldn't just wait all night for him……

Lin Yi walked to the school gates with Xiaobo once school ended. He eyed Mengyao and Yushu, who were opening the doors to Li Fu's car. "I'm going, see ya."

"Bye…" Xiaobo was feeling a bit down- he'd planned to have a nice drink and chat with Lin Yi tonight, but the guy didn't have the time.

"Where do you think you're going?! Stop right there!!" Xiaobo jumped as a loud voice sounded behind him. He raised his head only to see Zhong Pinliang, Zhang Naipao, and Gao Xiaofu surrounding him. The voice was Xiaofu's.

Zhong Pinliang had made a phone call back home earlier, and he'd learned that Heibao Bro took everything on his own shoulders… Pinliang, however, got a scolding from his father regardless, and he was very pissed about it- it was all Lin Yi's fault, but there was nothing he could do about it! This caused a spike in Pinliang's frustration.

Since there was no way of dealing with Lin Yi yet, Gao Xiaofu had suggested to give Kang Xiaobo a beating first. The brat was pretty full of himself back on the rooftop yesterday, even kicking Heibao Bro in the groin after Lin Yi put him down. The guy had it coming.

Zhong Pinliang's eyes lit up at Xiaofu's words- it was true! Lin Yi was out of their league, but Xiaobo was below theirs. Blowing off some steam wouldn't hurt.

"W-what do you guys want?" Xiaobo got manlier the last two days, but that was when Lin Yi was right next to him! There really wasn't a whole lot he could do on his own, and the three delinquents were coming at him with explicit malice!

"What do we want? Why don't you try remembering what you did these two days?" Pinliang said, chuckling coldly as he patted Xiaobo on the cheek. "Kang Xiaobo, I've really underestimated you, haven't I? You're quite the big shot around here!"

"What did I do..?" Xiaobo understood it clearly- pleading wasn't going to do him any good here. He might as well go down with some pride, since he'd been targeted already. He wasn't gonna get killed by a simple beating, after all.

"Still acting tough, huh?!!" Pinliang challenged as he stared at Xiaobo. "Hm? Too scared to admit what you did wrong? Or is it because your transfer student isn't here to protect you?"

Zhong Pinliang was venting his anger on a manageable target now, but he didn't like it too much- had he fallen this far?

Xiaobo strengthened his will- there was no escaping anyway. "Zhong Pinliang! You can do whatever you want to me today, but remember- I'll pay it back ten fold one day!! Come!!"

With that, Xiaobo closed his eyes shut, his chest puffed up courageously.

"Fucking!! Tough guy, huh? Interesting! Guys, what're you standing there for? Let's get him!" Xiaobo's bravery made further threatening and bullshit pointless, and PInliang decided to just get it over with.

"Liang Bro……" Xiaofu said softly as he tugged on Pinliang's sleeve.

"What?" Pinliang frowned. "What's wrong?"

Gao Xiaofu pointed some distance away as he spoke, his voice quivering a little. "Liang Bro, over there……"

"What the fuck is it?!" Pinliang cursed as he turned to look at where Xiaofu was pointing. His eyes widened in shock as the sight of Lin Yi walking towards them reached his eyes- the guy was smiling!! Yes, the smile of an absolute devil!!

What the fu-?! Why's he coming over here?? Didn't he leave already?!! Pinliang was panicking heavily at that point- Lin Yi was a complete lunatic, there's not telling what he'd do if he got ahold of them!!

He felt ashamed at the fear, and he felt furious at it- but even so, clashing with Lin Yi would only end badly for him. Fuck, whatever, I'll have my revenge one day. I'll pay you back tenfold one day, fucking Lin Yi!!

Using Kang Xiaobo's words of courage was something Zhong Pinliang never expected to have happened.
