Astraea

Chapter 5:Lightning

Bell picks up the handgun that fell on the ground and releases its magazine and puts it inside her pocket. Then she checked the other two unconscious men for handguns and did the same.

After making sure that the three men were unconscious and unarmed, she walked towards the stairs of the building.

She had studied the layout of the building before she came there. So she already knows where the stairs are and where to find Unit 4B that the man said.

Taking one last step on the stairs she came face to face with another gang member. Before she could act, the man yelled. "Intruder!" Alerting other members of the gang that are probably resting inside their unit.

Bell ran fast towards the man and kicked him on his stomach. When the man hunched forward to guard his pained stomach, Bell kicked his face using her knee, then using her other hand, he crashed his head on the wall.

"Who the hell are you?!" She heard a man behind her. She kicked the man on his front leg making the man fall forward. But before he falls, Bell grabs his hair and forcefully slammed his face on the floor.

Bell could hear his nose broken.

Another man comes running towards her while firing a gun at her. She jumped in the air and as if she was flying, she dodged the bullet.

When her foot landed on the floor in front of the man, the man was taken aback that she managed to remain unscathed after he finished a complete round of his bullets. Bell twisted her body and landed a kick on the man's neck making a cracking sound.

Though it doesn't seem like it, Bell is faster and stronger than these gang members to the point that it doesn't seem normal.

Because of the commotion, there are more and more gang members coming at her.

And there have been gunshots.

Bell knows that she has to make it fast before the police arrive.

She doesn't want to use a gun but since a gun was already fired, there is no use keeping it quiet. She pulled out two Glocks from her IWD holster and pointed them at the four men coming towards her.

Bell sprinted towards them and shot them each on the shoulder and leg making them all fall on the floor.

When Bell turned around, a gun was pointed closely on her forehead. But she was not startled, not even showing any fear.

"Who the are fuck are you, bitch?" The man was obviously angry.

"It doesn't matter. Just give me Chaol, and I'll leave silently." Bell calmly said.

The man cocked his head. Then he snickered. "Do you think I'll let you leave alive after the chaos you've caused?".

"I warned them. If they give me Chaol earlier when I asked, this wouldn't have to happen." Bell said in a cold tone.

"Tsk. Tsk. Tsk. You don't have any idea what you got yourself into." The man's lips curved into an evil smile.

"Enlighten me." Bell was not fazed at all.

"You don't have to know. Because you'll never live to see the light of the day."

Bell closed her eyes to keep herself composed because that man's evil smile irks her. Her Uncle Lorcan taught her that as much as possible, catch them through persuasion and intimidation, avoid any casualties.

And so far, she hasn't succeeded in that.

It is not in her nature.

There will always be casualties.

When her Uncle Lorcan found out about it, he just sighed and shook his head and told her to at least refrain from killing. So, that's what she has been doing.

Only Brylee knows how hard it is for her to keep herself from killing.

When she opened her eyes, there was a glint on it, making the man in front of her taken aback.

"I don't think I would like to see the light of the day in this place," Bell said slowly, her darkened eyes peeked under her hood. She dropped both her guns and lifted her right hand at the level of the man's chest. Her fingers were pointing at the man.

In a fraction of seconds, a flash of lightning coming from Bell's fingers strikes that man on his chest causing him to fall on the ground jerking.

Bell blinked her eyes and looked at the man on the ground. She put down her hand and slowly kneeled beside the man to check on his pulse.

She sighed when she felt a weak pulse.

She almost lost it.

"You are one lucky shit," Bell murmured.

The man was lucky that Bell was able to control it.

The voltage is not enough to cause his heart attack.

She looked around to make sure that no one saw her. Then she stood up to pick up her handguns that she dropped on the floor.

She learned that the gang has around 30 members. She expected them all to be in here but it looks like not everyone lives there.

Looking back at the aftermath that she caused one last time, she walks in the direction where Unit 4B is. If her memory serves her right.

Finally, she is standing at the door of Unit 4B. She looked around before she knocked. She still has the manners after what she's done. They just have to open the door politely.

But no one answers.

Now she wonders if Chaol is really in there. Because if he is, he should've gone outside after hearing the commotion.

She reached out for the doorknob and slowly opened the door.

And she didn't expect what she saw there.

"You've gotta be kidding me." Bell's eyes were wide in disgust.

Chaol is sprawled on the bed stark naked. His hands and feet were on shackles tied to the bedpost. He is blindfolded with duct tape on his mouth.

She looked around the room and found no one else.

Looks like the man was enjoying BDSM but his girlfriend leaves him when she hears the gunshots outside the room.

Chaol is twisting his body struggling to get out of the shackles. He is saying something or rather shouting something but the words coming out of his mouth were mumbled.

Bell searched around the room until she spotted the keys of the shackles. Then she picked up another chain.

Holding a gun on his face, Bell pulled out his blindfold.

Chaol's eyes squinted at the sudden brightness.

When he finally regained his vision, his eyes widened in shock at the sight of the handgun pointed at his face.

"Do not make any unnecessary movements or else I'll strike you in your brain. Got it?" Bell threatened the boy.

Chaol nodded his head in fear. There is something in the girl's voice that made him believe that she would really strike him.

Bell removed the shackles from the bedpost only to put Chaol's hands together behind him in shackles. Then she connected the chain she has on hand on the shackles so that she could control him. She never bothered to remove the duct tape on his mouth.

She next removes the shackles on his feet then throws pants on him.

"Dress up. Quick!" Bell instructed still pointing a gun on his head and Chaol immediately obliged, not wanting to be shot dead naked.

Chaol mumbled something then he looked at his shackled hands before he looked back at Bell. She immediately understands what he was saying and raises her brows at him. "What? Are you expecting me to dress you up?" She asked incredulously.

When he finished putting on pants, Bell pulled the chain on her hands and urged him to stand up and follow her.

She managed to drag Chaol into her car that was parked not far away before the police arrived.

When she got in her car, she noticed her phone on the dashboard. Her father is calling.

"Hi, Dad," Bell answered her phone while taking off her balaclava, coat, and holsters.

"Where are you? Why are you not answering my call?" She heard him asked anxiously.

"Sorry Dad, I accidentally put it on silent mode. I'm on my way home now. Currently driving." She said. Her father asked her a couple of questions that she had to answer before he hung up.

After three hours.

"Did you get him?" A red-haired woman in his early forties asked her. She is a big woman with a huge tattoo on her arm. She is the bail bondsman who hired Bell to catch Chaol.

"Yes, on the trunk," Bell said then opened the trunk of her car.

The red-haired woman saw an unconscious shirtless young boy on the trunk. "What happened to him?"

"I had to knock him out. He keeps on kicking and distracting me from driving."

"Hmm...as long as he is not injured." The red-haired woman brushed her nose with her finger. "He caused quite a stir, though he could run away from me. Good job Bell. As always." Then she walked in front of her.

Two burly men came and dragged Chaol out of the trunk. Chaol stirred for a while but he remained unconscious.

"I'll transfer the money to your account." The red-haired woman then said.

"Okay," Bell replied nonchalantly as if she didn't care about the money. Bell yawned and covered her mouth with the back of her palm.

The red-haired woman chuckled amused at Bell.

"Bye, then," Bell said then turned around and started to walk away.

"Until next time." The red-haired woman said.

Bell just raised her hand on the woman without looking back.

She walked away and called a cab.

She left the car that she just borrowed from the bail bondsman. She doesn't usually drive her car while she is on a hunt.

She headed to her office where she left her car in the basement parking.

It was a tiring three-day vacation and right now, there is nothing she wants more than her bed. And it seems like it was calling her from a distance.
