An Ton's Journey

Chapter 96 - Being system is an ungrateful business.

Well.

To connect to my first customer, So I would have at the very least better generation rate, I would need 100 UE for the cheapest one.

[ Random unpromising being ]

Yes. Even though I should've been the one to do everything and create all parts of the system, at least that's what I thought, It had it's own rules, restrictions and pre-built things.

Like, I didn't program for the customer services to generate UE, and I don't know how to do it without in-built function.

So, after contemplating and getting to the answer in my head, I submerged myself into peaceful sleep in hive mind, while my body sat inside Ark and robots were collecting many different types of creatures to form biosystems.

Yes, I think that having them separated would be good, and as my plans include finding My Levi and my people, I chose to prepare self-sufficient areas with beings that could be called living, unlike robots that Surround me everywhere.

And as for the humans? well... we are not really on good terms. They want Ark, even after my help.

It's not like I didn't expect it, greed knows no bounds, but they didn't even try to wait before attempting to order it's surrender. They are too confident in their planet breaking weapons.

Yes, they are strong, but I can shoot further. Much further and precisely.

Falling in a blissful sleep, I moved away from thinking about troubles and began enjoying myself.

It was a joyous time.

No troubles. no problems. no unnecessary decisions, just relaxation and comfort.

Even though I would've wanted to stay like that for as long as possible, there was a limit to everything.

Even bliss.

Ten years was enough for me to get used to it and not appreciate it as much, as I was satiated and satisfied with all love I received.

As I woke up, I looked around and saw no real change in the room, except for eight robots standing around me.

" Why are you here? " I asked, as all my robots were connected to the console and had ability to answer.

" Sir. In your absence, humans waged war against us. " Said one of them, turning to me.

" So, for additional security, to the existing automatic defence, it was deemed fit to add intelligent type of protection, connected to the core at all times " he continued.

" Seriously? war with humans? " I asked, regretting my awakening.

" Ehh... Sigh... " I 'breathed' out, expecting troubles.

" anyone approached my body? " I asked.

" No, sir. All known attempts at infiltration were stopped at the third level.

What levels I'm talking about? Well. First is intelligence gathering, stopping most of the inexperienced people.

Third is attempt at stealing information or getting inside restricted areas.

Yep, they didn't even know my position and condition.

" Give me short report on every even remotely important event " I said, standing up and leaving the room, cracking imaginative finger's bones.

You know, these kinds of things don't die easily. Just like bad habits.

After rapidly checking report, I decided that restoring relationship with human government was not worth it. They were still restoring themselves after the war, and many different groups always tried to benefit from these changes, even if it meant to worsen the situation in the world even more.

And my company, being extremely influencing, was a juicy target.

War that I was informed about was kind of a undercover war, and without my command robots didn't attack back. Only protected and kept business alive.

Most infuriating thing was that many companies stopped using recycling in their business. I understand if it is impossible due to expenses, but even bigger companies were leaving the field of ' keep earth clean '.

As for why I didn't fully clear after them, it was to not lose progress in the future.

Obviously, I almost cleared the atmosphere from the toxic substances and managed to get rid of most of the physical trash. twenty or more years are plenty enough for a robot empire... ghm... business to do it's intended work.

Well.

Leaving my success aside, I decided to get to the system stuff, after a month of neglect.

I totally didn't forget about it. It's true!

Ok, getting to my protected room I activated ho... 'customer' connection.

And it was really strange.

Connection happened in a dreamlike state. Passing through many who declined, I finally arrived to the one who accepted.

As connection was established, New line appeared inside my menu... if you can even call it like that.

I could see information about the customer. But in a text form.

Yep.

Boost. permanent boost to luck, until he dies. No numeric values. Just a description.

But what I noticed, is that he now passively generates UE for me. How did I notice? Well... When you got used to immovable UE counter and it changed twice in a short amount of time, it's noticeable.

After a week, I found out that I had generation rate of 1UE per day, it's freaking 30 times increase...

And don't ask how I reacted to this information, especially don't ask about destroyed wall that is being repaired.

It was infuriating and exhilarating at the same time.

The hardest thing to accept was inability to connect to multiple hosts. At least for now.

I had not enough knowledge and information.

As for customer, his name is Bob. He lives in Russia. And let's say it straight. It's extremely strange name for a person in Russia.

Nothing much was known about him. I doubt Bob even know about me, as I can't speak or communicate with him. Like, I don't even know the price for this ability.
