An Ton's Journey

Chapter 86 - Lonely stone life

Realising that speed changed, just like the direction of my 'Ship' , I wanted to apparate out of it, but I immediately suppressed my stupidity.

I need to watch myself, I still feel strange disorientation while making decisions, like - I never really was rash person in very important things... well, maybe when I was a child.

Thinking about it now, I can see a lot of things that I could've done differently. Especially when I had access to system, to such an extremely Overpowered and I wasted a lot of possibilities when I still was a probe.

Next few hours I spent lamenting about wasting time, resources, possibilities. Some of the mistakes and even 'Promises' to myself to get stronger.

I might've been motivated at some point, but as of now, when I don't need to run, I can finally relax.

Why don't I need to run?

" clack clack" Pain appeared in my head, as I tried to make a sound of pain, but only sound of my teeth striking against each other was heard by me.

I don't remember why, but I know something happened and I had no reason to run anymore. I might be wrong, but every time I try to remember, I feel pain. And I'm not in a hurry, so I will wait until I can remember it normally.

I will just hope that It's true, and not some kind of false knowledge implanted in my head. I hope.

~ After some time ~

Last few days I felt speed and direction of my flight change couple of times, but i didn't really know the reason for it. The only thing i knew is that speed was getting lower and lower, while direction was changing in a random pattern.

What I noticed, is that I'm always in kind of tired mood, even though I'm not really doing much, just creating some secondary wall after patching up the cracks with some magic, closing it in a crude way.

As for my 'ship' from the outside, I could say that it was damaged mainly on the same side as cracks, and all more and more damaged it became every time it changed directions.

I am not sure for how long it can survive, so I moved most things to bȧrėly damaged room with console and was thinking about reinforcing the walls with existing materials, like the metal that I took from house's walls and floors.

~ After few more days ~

Cracked part opened once, creating a small hole through which I could observe outside. As it broke, I created a metal net so I wouldn't accidentally fly out through the hole that could appear there while I began morphing metal to create glass.

Why don't I use magic to transfigure this stone and close it? I tried. it didn't work, and I had not enough energy to try a lot of different things, most of which I tried before I fought Borg.

As for the outside view, I could see that I was currently in space, flying at insane speeds through the black infinity, while stars were flashing by, some of them could be seen by my eyes after I modified my glasses to have lenses that would help me.

~ after a week. or two. or three... or more ~

I'm always tired. Most of the time I'm not sleeping, I'm spending in the process of creation of pod that would be protecting me while I am sleeping.

All the work I'm doing is being done through gritted teeth and a lot of curse.

As for why? Well... My reinforced room saved my life, as at some point in my sleep it hit something and now I had a huuge window to the outside. Thankfully, now my speed is much lower, and unlike before, I had more information about my current situation.

The energy that was 'seeping' out, was not really going outside of me, it was dangerous for me because it's was overwhelming my skeleton and breaking it, while all the energy except for force was used to fight back and restore it. Regenerate it.

As for the part that is seemingly leaking out, it was spreading across me and giving me a small golden shine at small cracks that were not leaking. as the energy itself was deep golden colored, and unlike real gold, it was self illuminated without shining. It was always lit up, even in darkness.

It might be scary or beautiful sight to see, but to me it was scary thing. It was damaging me, and even spreading. But, unlike my ȧssumption, cracks filled with golden vapour were not really damaging much. It only made me use more energy on them that results in me being always tired.

~ week later ~

One of my ribs fell out and as it was falling, it got eroded and disappeared. After it fell out, my condition became better for some time.

I suppose it is because size of battlefield became smaller.

My pod was almost complete. I just finished connecting and placing console inside, while storage was not yet filled.

As of now, I was thinking that it all was useless, but subtle help from the hive that was still somewhere out there helped to keep me sane and collected.

I might not require people to talk to, unlike human, but I still could get crazy from being absolutely alone in a world where sound only exists when I fill the room with gases.

Yep, I could hear things as sound waves crashed against my skull and provided me with sounds. Obviously it took time for me to hear them not only through the force.

Unlike eyes, ears didn't grow out. And I was thankful that I still had eyes.

~ three days later ~

"Welp. I hope I survive. " were my thoughts while I was packing things hastily inside the storage space in the capsule.

Why was I thinking it? Well, I could see that I was flying right straight at something in the distance, and as a precaution, I locked storage space, got inside it, activated shield around capsule, and waited.

Waited.

And waited.

After couple of hours, and no impact, I checked for any hull breaches, tied rope around my spine, and opened capsule.

What I saw outside, was strangely round rocks and houses on them, as they were speeding by me. I even saw a big man playing golf and shooting balls between these rocks.

Thankfully, I just flew past them without crushing, I definitely don't want to be with people who were always smiling in a way that made their smile bigger than their heads. Like, Really. that's creepy as heck. Even to me.

After that, as I didn't crush into anything, I proceeded to finish the capsule, adding some more engines, so I could maneuver if needed.

Console, having records of many things that happened in OP world, and some basic things that I learned in the process of my life, allowed me to use everything I had, especially magic, to create some highly inefficient engines that only used energy.

~ A month or so later ~

Welp. I finished polishing my new 'capsule'. It currently looked more like a capsule with exoskeleton connected to it that was wearing a backpack, but if necessary - all appendages retract and create a smooth bulky looking escape module.

Yep, it was not capsule anymore. I covered it with pieces of stone, making it more protected, and was waiting for an impact. I was on a course to crash into ...
