An Ton's Journey

Chapter 78 - One piece... of truth of truth.

I don't really know what happened at that time. At one moment I was looking at a hand the size of an island, the next moment I was in the water, chained to some kind of surface, feeling sea pressure like never before.

I could bȧrėly hold myself awake, as I felt my skin slide off my muscles, as they were snapping one after another, getting destroyed by the pure pressure. Even though my body kept regenerating at incredible speed, pressure still kept destroying it faster.

After couple of moments, as it all was happening, I blacked out. Unable to keep myself conscious.

If someone could see me from outside, they would see a skeleton that was emitting some kind of red colored water. Also, what observant people would see is small cracks spreading all over the bones that couldn't resist anymore.

Blood that was spreading all around my body was gradually colouring water around me in red.

As cracks were continuing to spread, my began repairing them instead of trying to restore my body as a whole, as in current dire situation it was the only chance for it to survive. All the blood and any other parts of my body that were destroyed began moving to me, not leaving anything out. All in attempt to survive.

Process of cracking gradually slowed down, as all the regenerative capabilities were used to restore bones and stop the spreading cracks.

Sadly, all the small bones in my body were already destroyed, leaving only thick and strong bones that had a leeway and were not destroyed when body managed to restructure itself.

As for the chains that were keeping me at the bottom, they were the main reason for the appearance of cracks. They were not just holding me by wrapping around my body, they were pushed right through my bones and entangled my body in an intricate web.

The oddest thing is, they didn't really stop my bones from slowly being pushed up by the difference in pressure. They only made this process excruciatingly slow.

While my bones were lifting themselves up, Chains were elongating and still were connected to the bottom of what I guess is sea.

Being this deep, my body couldn't really fight back fast enough, as some cracks began widening and at some point some of the bones were falling out, making my rise yo the surface differentiate in speed. The moment some of the bones were disconnected from my main skeleton, they were being rapidly destroyed.

Lifting all higher and higher, All what was left was my thickened spine, that grew like that with time, two pairs of ribs that bȧrėly held for life, two thicker sections of my legs, as lower parts broke earlier, and one arm that had no fingers.

Just like that, my body kept getting higher and higher, until it hit the ceiling where my regeneration speed of bones was enough to heal itself. The problem was, while unconscious, my body didn't grow back everything. It attempted to recreate part that were responsible for my consciousness.

At first, it tried restoring it as it was before. muscular, beautiful body. But after unknown moment it began changing what it regenerated. In attempt at regrowing enough muscles and skin that would not get destroyed by current pressure and would keep my brain isolated from it.

As the result of innumerable attempts and changes, my bones were being slowly covered by extremely thin layer of muscles and skin, which were so strongly connected to the bones and flesh, that it couldn't be separated or destroyed by pressure.

Peculiarly, pressure in this place was changing all the time. So, to counteract that, muscles and skin were remade to bear the sudden changes.

Also, as flesh was reappearing, body was slowly falling down deeper, so current muscles were extremely light, even lighter than my bones that were lighter than water as a byproduct of consuming insane amount of sea life.

After a while, as muscles and skin covered my skeleton, I awoke.

Not knowing what was happening, and feeling as some kind of chains were leading deep down, I tried snapping them. It was futile.

After that, I began trying to access my situation. Everything around me was felt by me, grace of Force, but there was nothing except for chains, water, and a ceiling made out of some kind of stone.

Remembering what happened before, I would've sweated if I could in my current situation.

The hand that was approaching me at that time, flicked me with such strength that I flew deep into the sea in a moment, without even feeling a thing, as my body got seriously damaged. After that, I remember hearing some sounds and I appeared chained deeper than should be realistically possible.

Thin as a stickman. No eyes, no inner organs. Only muscles to move, skin to protect, and brain to command.

Deciding to try and break through the ceiling, I took out my drill, but it broke after trying to dig through strong material at such depth.

My submarine still worked, for a minute or two, until it began getting destroyed at it's seams by sudden increase in pressure, successfully destroying it.

Trying many things, they were either destroyed or ineffective. The only way for me to move was try to swim or use force.

Swimming was not really an option, as in my case Force was faster.

Swimming for a few days or weeks, searching for a way out, I felt a stream. I bȧrėly missed it, but thankfully my coverage of force was pretty big, allowing me to feel it. Following the stream, I arrived at the small crevice in the ceiling, bȧrėly enough for myself to push myself through it, but after an hour or so, after forcefully pushing myself using my only hand, I managed it.

Seeing as there is a way up, I continued going up until finally reaching it.

Looking around, I again tried connecting to my observers or warp out, but no connection was found.

AI, on the other hand just malfunctioned and stopped responding to me after hand touched me.

Landing on island, I layed down on the beach and relaxed myself.

Finally I was out of that place. Why am I doing mistakes again and again?

I better not be too reckless with things I don't understand.

After hunting sea king to eat, I proceeded to try and restore my broken body, but no matter how much I tried, it didn't work out. No bones grew out, only muscles and skin. And only the kind that was adopted by my body at that time.

I don't know why I can't grow my bigger bones, but small ones were possible. And only regrowing, not creating. It's like my ability to create new body parts was locked...

Or chained, I looked at chains penetrating every bone in my body, except for finger bones that were growing.

After some time, I was finally able to stand normally on my two legs, and pick with my hand. The only hand.

Flying up, I apparated to my island, but saw nothing. Only a simple island. Not a sign of anything made by me. After that, I proceeded to the closest island and read newspaper.

In it, were news about Luffy saving an island from Arlong, where he saved Nami and began getting some fame.

I don't know, but I definitely know that I don't want to catch it's eye again.

Next few days I went on an 'eating' spree, emptying almost all the resources for fabricator that I had, while hunting sea kings to create more.

After satisfying myself with all kinds of good food, I tried to grow more muscles again, but not much grew.

But the strength they had was much stronger, if you compare it's mass and density.

All the strength was not lost, just changed to a different form. Sadly, this form was of a man who looks like he never ever attempted to eat in his life.

Not knowing if the being watches me, I decided to not affect the world much, and just spend time as a being of this world, living a life and living on a swimming restaurant island where a certain blonde guy worked.

At night, though, I tried to fall asleep, but couldn't. Nothing helped.

Obviously, I proceeded to drink pepsi and cola, but now I didn't spread it around.

Living many months on a restaurant island, I met many famous people visiting it, enjoying their food, and I never intervened when pirated tried to rob anyone. Although it was hard to hold myself from just shutting them up sometimes.

It was an interesting situation, because Mihawk looked at me specifically, while he didn't look at anyone else.

After a week after that, I tried to experiment with my eating habits. I overheard people discussing intricacies of the taste, but I couldn't understand them at all. I might be able to taste it, but not differentiate them. I never really tried to enjoy the food slowly and unhurriedly. I always ate like a hungry, starving man after weeks of eating nothing but grass or leaves.

Obviously without problems of such a way to eat like overweight or even death after your body couldn't bear with all the new food properly.

Thinking about it, I attempted it, but felt no real way to enjoy like they did, so I began eating bland food just to feel it like new, so I could enjoy it.

After a week of holding, I finally decided to taste a sip of pepsi, as I couldn't hold anymore. I didn't have unshakable will, especially to things like food.

Taking a sip of cold heavenly nectar after a week of bland life, I felt like I never tasted it before. Such a deep and nice taste.

While I was contemplating about doing such an endeavour once few months or once a year, I decided to try and taste some good food, while I still could feel it to such extent.

And it was like new world opened to me. World of taste. I always forget how good stuff tastes if I don't just swallow it after couple of seconds.

So, bȧrėly stopping myself from drinking cold cola, I take out the drink that was the last I loaded from my memories.

Sitro... drink that for some reason didn't become popular and was overshadowed by pepsi and cola.

It was such a nostalgic taste, that I fell in my childhood memories. It was such a simple life. No hurdles, no suffering, no evil, nothing was really bad.

In the morning, after sun shone into my eyes as I was slowly drinking Sitro, I proceeded to study my main knowledge source that was broken. I couldn't really blame System for not making it sturdier, I don't know what that being behind the sphere has done to me, but most of my tech didn't work anymore. It was broken. Again.

Yes, I installed a small workshop on this travelling restaurant, but it was small. So, many things were still under repair.

Obviously, probes were repaired first, and now they repair everything else.

I don't really care though, as they repaired my bullet launcher 9.001 and I was ready to Leave this place.

Why do I leave? I am bored, and can't learn more from the broken tablet. It can't be repaired by probes, they don't have it's schematics and AI was still quiet.

Boarding my small yacht, that was really a small ship, as no definition of yacht existed in this world, I turned my electric engine on and slowly watched as swimming restaurant was hidden in a distance, behind the horizon.

Looking in to the distance, I took out one of the cooking books that I picked from one of the shops and proceeded to read it, as I slowly moved to the grand line, in hopes of not being noticed by the owner of that hand.

~ A week or so later ~

I arrived at the entrance to the grand line, bypassed the marine checkpoint and went in, looking at the view that was to my back, as I was being lifted up.

I could see far away, but knowing that this was just one of impossibly big number of worlds made me even less interested in good views than before. Maybe if it would've been something that I didn't see before, but this sight was nothing really special.

In the distance I could see marine ship fighting against some pirates, on an island I could see people living their lives, and they didn't even suspect that they've done all these things already.

I don't know how it happened, and why I was not affected... was I affected? I don't know.

But as I know, they don't remember their future, while I still can remember that it all happened before.

In few weeks, Luffy would arrive at the grand line, or red line. And he would begin getting stronger and stronger, but it doesn't really matter to me. It is hard to explain. I knew future Luffy, and he is still the same Luffy, but how should I put it, it is hard to accept that all the time I spent with him just disappeared.

Just whoosh and it's gone.

It doesn't feel comfortable.

As I left the lift, I proceeded to swim through different islands, trying their food from different people. Some good, some bad, some strange. Who ever thought about using banana and filling it with hot sauce before frying it?

Who thought about eating lasagna with different stuffings for each layer? Like marshmallow, meat, cheese, chocolate, sausages, sour cream, banana...

There was a cafe where they served lasagna with random layers... Yea, it was an interesting experience.

Once I got an interesting lasagna. It had five layers, but they all were sweet. Zephyr, whisked sour cream with sugar, strawberries, hot chocolate, and some kind of nut.

I don't know how to explain the taste, but I definitely managed to take pieces with different combinations of these fillings from it.

After couple of months, I received a response from AI about it's emergency restart.

" AI, what happened? where were you? " I asked, as it was a long time since it was on.

" Critical system failure. Code was heavily damaged. In the process of recovery all the broken code was separated. Emergency code activated. Most functions are unavailable. Entering repair stage. Approximate time of repair --:-- [Unknown]" It replied in much more robotic way.

After a while, and some inquiries from me, AI began using all the allowed tools to repair the broken code. Obviously, it couldn't repair some of the main or protected code parts, so it wouldn't be able to function fully until I get back to my hive.

sailing to the random island, I saw Luffy and his team fighting some pirates, but looking at it now, I think I know where am I.

The moment I thought about it, a dome made out of strings covered the whole island. It must be the time where he saves Law, the miracle doctor. The user of an interesting devil fruit.

Looking around, I could see how strings were only digging around a meter deep in to the earth. And here I thought that it was a sphere. Such a bug disappointment. They had easy way out, but they only tried resisting the net, not trying to find the way out.

Walking around, looking at panicked people that were doing anything in their strength to save their lives, was not really satisfying. I felt bad for them, but most of these people deserves death.

Getting closer to the main fight, the moment I saw Luffy, he was cut in many pieces by string.

The moment he got cut, everything stopped. Nobody moved. Nothing moved. Even air.

I was trapped by immovable air, making me try and get out. Nothing worked.

After some 'time', Everything continued, hut there were not battle. No net, only a Kingdom that existed for a long time.

Luffy was nowhere seen, no revolution, nothing like that happened.

Everything was peaceful.

What the hell just happened?

Getting to the closest magazine kiosk, I opened the newspaper and saw the date. It was the day when Luffy started his journey. The Day where Manga began.

So, time reversed back? What about me?

Looking around, and not seeing my yacht, I proceeded to check my energy storage for the travel. It was empty.

It is just like when I arrived at this world.

After some thoughts, I remembered that everything changed when Luffy died. He never died in manga, but in this world - the moment he died, everything stopped and restarted.

It's either a coincidence, or I need him alive for couple of years to collect enough energy for the Transfer.

So, it is time to make my appearance in the story again. I think it would be the best if I would appear sometimes in his life, while watching him at all other times. I will have to save him, otherwise I will never get out of here and my pursuers will catch up.

I'm worried that they might be already too close to me. I already spent years in this world. If you don't count me being captured again.

Why am I captured all the time? I'm sure it's not my fetish.... Ghhhrrgghh *Growling sound*
