An Ton's Journey

After leaving the island in a hurry, came time of boredom. As Nexus could not move fast without upgrading thrusters, I decided to look at what I have and plan my future actions.

At the moment I have thousand probes, and only around hundred active one. All other seem to need pylons to control, so they turned off.

I have only 87k minerals left. Not enough to upgrade thrusters. So, how do I get more minerals? I remember that I could sell anything to the shop, so Maybe water?

I decided to try it out, so getting to the edge and seeing that water is pretty far down, I went yo the control panel and began to move Nexus lower and lower. Then gone to the edge to check, and back to the control panel.

This took me around twenty minutes to fine tune height as I was not used to it and at some point Nexus was submerged a little bit.

After getting it to the level where I could begin to get water, so I began to do it.

From outside it must have been strange looking sight of water being suċkėd in huge quantities. After ten minutes of suċkɨnġ water, I had around six thousand tonnes of water.

And this ammount only resulted in me getting six minerals. not worth it. Would be, if my probes could do it too, but they can not work with liquids or gases.

So after some thoughts I saw that I did not build [Tools Synthesizer]. As it costs just 5k minerals, it might be worth creating it and checking for something useful.

It was automatically placed connected to [modification station] that can upgrade me. Interesting. Why is that?

After waiting a minute for it to build, I came and looked at what can I get in there.

As it seems, this thing can provide a lot of mountable stuff, but only for me. All the stuff that you need to hold or wear, can be used by anyone - even zealots or probes.

I bought fifty harpoons. it was worth it. 500 minerals for it is not much. So while being in lifted mood, I sent probes to go fishing and sell all the fish they get. to the other probes I got fishing nets. now lets enjoy show!! No more boredom for me!!!

Next few days I spent watching probes fish. This was possible, because Nexus made no noise in fly mode. It is insane and surprising taking in account the lift off process. It was so fcking loud.

But even process of watching probes work finally stopped being that interesting after a week. Though, I got a lot of minerals from fish, not as much as from trees, but after some time and experience, hundred probes were bringing me ten thousand minerals per twelve hours. And it became possible only after I made all hundred probes use nets to catch fish.

Fishing like that was not really the most convenient and stable way of fishing. All depends on luck and the size of the nets.

After some thoughts I decided to look for net that would be big long enough to spread all across one of the sides of the Nexus.

While searching for nets I understood that I never measured the length of the Nexus. That is pretty damn obvious thing to do in the beginning, but why didn't I think about it before? hmm.

This made me make simplest measurement tool that I could not including measurement tape. It is using laser to get distance. If I remember correctly, something like that was recently used on global scale around my past world? Huh, so is one of the newest stuff on earth is the cheapest and crudest way of measuring distance? I am sad and happy at the same time.

So taking it and measuring is the thing that I did. And holy fuċkirolly, that thing is really big. But I did not expect that each side of it was 300 meters. Woah. really big.

But is it bigger then biggest pyramid on earth? I don't know, never had a chance to be there.

In the catalogue, I found a few nets that fits my size needs:

[simple rope net] 100 minerals. Made of organic ropes. Can easily hold enough fishes that fits the size. Because of the size and materials, might begin breaking in a year.

[simple metal net] 250 minerals. Made of adequately flexible net. Not as flexible as normal net, but because of it weight can be used while moving without needing added weights to keep it in good position.

[simple artificial net] 1000 minerals. Made out of artificial material that does not exist in natural form. Hardly decomposable. Would not naturally decompose at least for thousand years. Durable enough to even catch a lot of moderately bog fishes. ( up to a ton in weights each. more then that each, and it is possible to be broken if more then 60-70% full)

[mazed artificial net] 3000 minerals. Made in a way so it can hold more fish, even small ones, without losing in durability. Can be broken with sharp teeth of big enough species.

[ advanced warp net field] 100000 minerals. Uses advanced warp technology. Consist of many ball gun points that are interconnected using [ need technology unlocked to know more ]. Warps living beings that passed this net. Warp point can not be placed further then a kilometer away from closest point of the net.

Oof what a nice net. As I can not see myself getting close to the land soon enough, I better get a good net for more possible income. I am not some stupid stingy man to get cheap one.

And also it takes a lot of time for probes to get nets out of the sea and deposit all fish for selling. And getting automatic net would provide me much more minerals then probes would with normal nets.

Ehh I wish I had technology for this net, so it would not cost this much for hundred meters square. But it need a lot of costly and unavailable techs at that point. It seems there is a long way to go for full net. But looking at the endless sea, this is good investment.

After mont or so of traveling aimlessly across the sea the only thing I ever saw were really small islands that my Nexus could bȧrėly land on. No big landmasses, even as big as the island I began from.

In those weeks using probes and new net, I got enough minerals to get five more nets. Now I can get around hundred thousand a day. Very nice,

But after a lot of thoughts, making aquarium inside the Nexus to watch fishes, making a little garden inside, I at least had something to do. Before getting those, I was getting really bored and tired of loneliness.

Even though there are no land in sight, I hope to find some soon. I hope there are some land, because getting Nexus to fly outside of the planet would take a lot of Minerals and time. I had really a lot of time to look at what to expect in the future. I did not plan it all,just some simple guide lines for some possible situations.

I should be prepared and do in situations like: meeting people, some kind of people that look different from humans or the ones who could not understand me or I could not understand them. Also I looked at possible future ways to get mroe minerals, but for now mainly it is getting fish and increasing size of the net.

I have a grandiose ideas for what I will do.

As researching space ships would take vespene, and I did not find a way to get it, I decided to make Nexus my space ship and an overpowered base. But this plan will take a lot of time as I will need so much Minerals for all of this that it would take me years with only this much mineral income.

Let's hope there is a land somewhere out there.

I suppose it is hard for me to make chapters regularly, So I think it will be 2-3 chapters a week.

Maybe, there will be little more or less sometimes, But I plan for it to be like that.

The world will be SW with little additions here and there. And there are still some time before he get to interact with someone other then protoss.
