An Ton's Journey

Chapter 107 - Acting like a scared kid.

Leaving the observation room, I rapidly rode to the warping room, where I warped onto the Ark.

Ark, in it's current form could be called big, but considering that it was just a ship, I was sure that it couldn't easily fight against innumerable army of these insane fanatics. Especially when I only heard a little bit about them. I didn't even know how strong they are.

The only thing I knew, is that I must not approach them.

So, as a smart being that I am, I drastically changed the course of my flight.

I didn't dare to use any warp engines or anything that would emit dangerously high energy wave.

I couldn't risk it. I never knew anything about how good their technology is. I only heard that warp attracts Tyranids and many other things. And that was in a fanfic.

So, no warp. no light speed engines. No hyperspace. nothing.

I can't risk it.

Ok. 135 degrees turn will be fine.

I won't move directly back, and won't be moving towards this insane place.

~~~
Next few days I spent in a room where I could always react to any danger and work on upgrading my humans.
I didn't pay any attention to my previous idea of creating enjoyable life in the space while being surrounded by generations of EarthStation people.
I had to make them strong enough to protect themselves. Why? Because I forgot one crucial moment in an infinite amount of them.
Space is not lifeless.
Yes.
And even though EarthStation has advanced protection against dangers of space, It doesn't have much in case of protection against intruders.
It obviously has some hidden weapons that could disable or destroy things, but people living here should also be able to protect themselves.
So, I decided to add a certain subject in their study. Self-defense.
Also, Practical engineering, Weapon production, protection designing and so on.
Phew.
After a month of moving without any problems, I relaxed my ȧss and allowed myself to sleep for 10 hours.
I really needed it... but nothing goes right when you relax...
* BOOOM *
* pew pew pew
* Whoosh * * Shinggnnnn *
" ugh. What the fuċk happened " I unintentionally said, as I frequently talked with myself to alleviate boredom when I was not connected to the hive mind.
Hostile entities detected!
Self defense mechanism 0.03 and 0.13 are online.
As this was announced, in a mechanical version of my voice, Enormous artillery batteries began activating, while shield drones flew out of every hangar and flew to the side of the enemy.
Oh my bad.
The enemy is yet unknown to me, but judging by the codes, and that only station's defensive mechanism was activated, it's some kind of spaceship that is not yet in the list of extremely dangerous, but can be very dangerous to the integrity of EarthStation.
As for what exactly it is, I will know when I arrive at the command center.
Why am I not sleeping there? because I was in a lab section, and finally finished last modification to the genome of my new humans.
Why Last? because soon I will wake them up and they will no longer be just bodies.
~~~

As I arrived at the control panel, I decided that I needed to keep a portable version with me at all times.

Why? Because current enemy was not the one I expected.

It was a ridiculously looking ship that I wouldn't have trouble defeating, but it signified something bigger. Something much more scary.

I entered Ork's territory and my flight direction was not a good choice.

Destroying it was not an issue at all. It fired couple hundreds of rockets at me, half of which exploded midflight and third just missed. But it was all. My artillery easily sliced through it with plasma rays that were everywhere.

On the next day, As I changed direction again, I encountered three more ships that were flying directly in my direction. Obviously I didn't let them, and sniped their engines, that were fully repaired after half an hour by their ridiculous workforce.

As for why I just sniped? Well. my sensors are much better than you might think. I had a glimpse of what is coming behind them, just on the border of my sensors, and let me be straight.

I won't fight a FREAKING ARMADA of green angry Ork's that send RATATATATA in every way possible.

At first I tried talking to them, but they like the war in a way that I can't accept. Infinite war... That's ridiculous.

As I was fleeing, while holding myself from activating lightspeed engines, I began to theorize on the way these Ork's track me. I'm pretty sure that they are not that technologically advanced to overpower my sensors. So, how?

I know nothing about them and it is very bad, as knowledge is power. Especially in this situation.

~~~
Month later.
Welp. I'm done. Time to wake up my humans and give them their changed lessons...
Yep. third time I'm changing their future schedule.
Who knew that Ork's would be so annoying and persistent.
I wish they would've come only from one direction. I can't even imagine how many times I changed my flight paths after noticing more ships coming from absolutely random direction.
It's like they are everywhere.
~~~

* Pffffff*

* Shhhh*

*Shaaaa*

Were the sounds coming from everywhere, as capsules were being decompressed and kids were waking up all around the EarthStation.

As for what their current schedule is, it is mainly few all encompassing subjects and a lot of subjects that would help to operate this station efficiently and fight against intruders.

As for letting them know about current predicament? They were not informed and won't be until they grow up a little.

It's not their time to fight. I'm not heartless monster.

I won't make them fight in a needless war.

As for how long will I be able to keep it that way? I don't know. The only thing I know is that I'm not giving them access to sensors and artillery until they are ready.

I didn't have time to change them anymore.

I obviously used AI to control the station, but ultimately, I made a choice to run. While AI just wanted to activate Ark and fight in a war against innumerable quantity of green skinned warmongers.

Then, why didn't I fight against them if even AI would've?

I don't want to spend next few years fighting in a war against Orks.

Yes. it was that much of a difference in numbers.

I might have a pretty big sized moon and incredible number of guns, but compared to Ork's numbers, it was like a speck of sand in a Sahara desert.

Yeppity yep.

Not fighting.

Not now.

Not yet.

Not until I Know that I can win.

~~~
*KABOOM* I felt something crashing into the station.
" What was that? " I asked myself, as it was not on my sensors.
Looking at camera footage, I could see how Ork's ship crashed right against one of artillery batteries.
How the hell it happened?
* Krashboom *
Came another strike, as I saw in a distance a huge number of Ork ships flying past the station, while getting disassembled in the process of flight.
As one crash was coming after another, I decided that it was time to fight. Orks found a way to get me. And looking at it, it was a hastily created huge gun that was shooting ships in my direction, allowing them to fly at speeds that were too high to notice. How high? Let's say they were shot using hyperspace. So, when they were approaching my ship, they were bȧrėly leaving hyperspace.
Genius and stupid.
Now I can use warp and get the heck out, but it was no longer a choice.
I was surrounded and had a station full of kids.
A donut shaped EarthStation full of kids is under Ork's attack. Sounds like an interesting manga...
Thank you for reading, and enjoy if you can!
Happy new year... two weeks after new year...
I can promise nothing, but here is a chapter.
I'm disappointed in myself that I don't release as much as I say.
So, I found part-time work from home.
I'm writing small cooking recipes. ( I'm writing how to cook a recipe from the video on YouTube, and getting some money for it. )
it's not much, but it's hon....
ghm.
It's a little, but I can finally have my own personal money.
That's it. it's easier to write after chapter stuff then chapter itself.... it sucks.
