Alien Knights

Chapter 754 Destination (6)

Twilight West City, Eastern Defense Line.

Swinging his sword, he slashed downwards. Panting, Alfonso split the bone-spurred undead under his feet into two pieces with one sword strike.

Staggeringly standing upright, Alfonso looked around. The thick smoke drifted across the battlefield, and the corpses of knights, soldiers, undead, and war horses covered the entire land.

"Mervyn! Bennett! Corleone!"

Alfonso opened his blood-soaked eyes and called those familiar names in a hoarse voice.

No one answered.

"Save your energy and stop shouting."

A guard knight with a silver dragon emblem engraved on his armor slowly walked to Alfonso's side and lifted his mask, covering the wound on his abdomen.

Alfonso recognized the beautiful face under the mask, the Royal Guards Knight Dion.

Dion covered his wound, sat tremblingly on a shield on the ground, and said to Alfonso: "The Mervin United and the Bennett United were all killed in the battle, and the Corleone United only had two retinues left. The knight is still alive, and the rest are all dead.”

Alfonso was stunned for a while and asked Dion: "You are a knight of the Royal City Guards, why did you come to the battlefield?"

Dion, who was touching the wound, grinned and said: "The battle on the front line is tense. Except for a few guards in the royal city who are responsible for guarding the treasure house, everyone else has supported the defense line."

"Not only us, but also the Prime Minister of the Kingdom, Mr. Emerson, has brought volunteers to the city wall to assist in the defense."

After Dion finished speaking, he raised his head and narrowed his eyes to look at Alfonso, pointed at the latter's left shoulder and said: "Your here... yes, here..."

Alfonso lowered his head and realized that half of the bone spur was pierced into his shoulder, but he didn't notice it at all.

Grasping the outer edge of the bone spur, Alfonso pulled hard.

Blood flowed from the gap in the dragon bone armor, but Alfonso did not feel any pain.

The long and high-intensity battle gradually paralyzed Alfonso's pain nerves, and he was like a machine repeating attacks.

Alfonso looked towards the distance of the battlefield. The bloody sky was filled with thick haze, and the faint light was hidden in the darkness. No matter how hard he tried, he could no longer see the end of the horizon.

"How many times is this the undead attack today?"

Hearing Alfonso's question, Dion frowned and said while recalling: "The sixth time? The seventh time? Is there any difference? Anyway, they will come again."

Alfonso looked back in the direction of the city wall and said to Dion: "Let's go, it's time to go back."

Dion pointed to the wound on his abdomen and showed a helpless smile to Alfonso.

The latter sighed, squatted down, supported the injured Dion with his arms, and walked slowly towards the city wall.

Along the way, Alfonso kept finding some surviving knights and soldiers. However, the total number of survivors was still less than a hundred.

On this road leading to the eastern defense wall, corpses can be seen everywhere. Some of them are human, some are Crusaders, but most of them belong to the undead.

Mud, blood, mutilated limbs and weapons were mixed together, turning the original plain into a muddy and shocking bad land.

Alfonso was walking on the road, stepping on the remains of an unknown creature, and saw the corpse of a fortress undead in the middle of the road.

This behemoth, dozens of meters tall, fell to the ground motionless. The inside of its body had been destroyed beyond recognition, and half of the shadow's body was stuck in the mouth of the abyss, which must have been the reason for its final demise.

Going further, less than fifty meters away from the city wall, there were more and more corpses, and there were even so many that there was nowhere to go.

Facing these mountains of corpses and bones in front of him, Alfonso supported Dion and had to bypass the section of the city wall facing the main road and walked into the defense base camp from the bottom of the corner tower on the side.

Before entering the military camp, Alfonso and Dion suddenly heard crying.

Alfonso, who suddenly had a bad feeling in his heart, quickened his pace and stepped into the gate of the military camp.

Among many crying citizens, Cumberland, covered in blood, was sitting cross-legged on the ground. Next to him, a body covered with white cloth was placed on the ground.

Cumberland looked forward blankly, his hands covered with dust and blood on his knees, trying his best to suppress the grief in his heart.

Alfonso let go of Dion, stared at the body covered with white cloth on the ground, and asked Queen Mary of the Holy Acropolis not far away: "Could it be...?"

Mary, who still had tears on her cheeks, nodded to Alfonso and said, "It's Mr. Emerson..."

Alfonso gasped and closed his eyes in pain.

Cumberland's hands were clutching his knees, his joints turning white from the extreme exertion, and his mournful voice was low and hoarse: "You old turtle who always shrinks in his shell... why do you have to do it at that time?" dash forward!"

At this moment, the pale-faced Adjutant Cumberland quickly ran out from behind the barracks.

He first glanced at the grief-stricken Cumberland, then walked quickly to Alfonso's side, and said tremblingly: "Sir... there was news just from the front line."

Alfonso: "What news?"

Adjutant: "The southern defense line...has been lost."

Alfonso's body trembled slightly and he forgot to speak for a moment.

The adjutant continued: "The remaining Crusaders have moved to the last defense line of the royal city. Their commander has just contacted us and asked us to abandon the eastern front and join them."

After Alfonso was shocked, he was about to say something.

Suddenly, a dazzling white light appeared in the air outside the military camp, illuminating most of the sky.

Immediately afterwards, an earth-shaking loud noise came from the south of Muxi City. The ground began to shake slightly, and stones and dust flew into the air.

Cumberland slowly stood up and looked south.

In the distant sky, a huge blazing cloud of fire slowly rose.

Cumberland turned his head back and looked at the panicked adjutant, already guessing what had happened.

"Alfonso Decapo, come here." Cumberland said as he walked towards the depths of the military camp: "I have a task for you."

Following Cumberland, Alfonso said: "There in the south..."

Cumberland turned around and interrupted him: "No need to say it, I know. Let me ask you, how many subordinates do you have?"

Alfonso was silent for a moment and shook his head slightly.

Cumberland sighed softly and continued: "I want you to escort these citizens and Queen Mary to the royal city safely."

Alfonso asked doubtfully: "Anyone can do this kind of task..."

Cumberland had a straight face and growled: "This is an order! The kingdom just lost a prime minister today, do you want to see another queen in misfortune?!"

Alfonso looked at Cumberland with an angry look on his face, lowered his head and said slowly: "As you command."

Looking at the knight in front of him, Cumberland's expression slowly softened.

The old knight slowly took out a golden badge from the armor on his chest.

On the front of the badge, on top of the umbrella pattern, there is a black dragon and a knight's shield engraved.

On the back of the badge is a knight's motto that Alfonso is all too familiar with - honor is my life.

Under Alfonso's surprised gaze, Cumberland took the badge off his neck and put it into his hand.

"The Order needs a Grand Master."

Cumberland stared into Alfonso's eyes and said solemnly: "No one is more suitable for it than you."

Alfonso opened his eyes wide and quickly opened his mouth to evade.

Cumberland clenched his fist involuntarily and shouted in a low voice: "This is also an order!"
