Alien Knights

Chapter 239 Barbarian Camp

The sun rises again, and the earth is bright again.

Todd got up from the ground, glanced at Rachel and Aisha who were still sleeping, squatted down, tiptoedly added some branches to the firepit, and blew up the fire a bit before turning around and walking out of the campsite.

Back on the beach, the masts and sails washed up by the sea were disassembled and transported back to the camp. Todd went back into the woods and collected half a bag of dew with a canvas water bag. He finally set up a "stone pot" and began to boil herbs, distill dew, and make props.

After waking up Rachel, Todd fed her the boiled medicinal soup, and then put the simple back basket made of mast cables and planks on his body.

Seeing Todd put the weak Rachel in the basket, and put the woman's hands on his shoulders, Ayesha's face showed an inexplicable emotion.

"I guess, I'm going to say goodbye to you guys here?" Aisha bit her lips tightly, her face was holding on to the last bit of dignity, and her throat felt dry for a while.

Todd, who was carrying Rachel on his back, glanced at Aisha strangely, and then dragged in a "mog bed" made of canvas and wooden poles from outside the camp.

Tie the rope at one end of the drag bed around his waist, and Todd patted the surface of the canvas, motioning for Aisha to slowly move her body and sit on it.

Aisha opened her mouth wide in disbelief, her eyes were red, and something burst in her heart.

"When sitting on it, raise the broken splint, there will be some bumps on the way, don't let the wound re-open..."

Before Todd finished speaking, Aisha asked in a low voice, "Why?"

Todd smiled and said nothing.

Marching on the territory of the northern barbarian country, Todd carried a woman on his back and dragged another woman, but he didn't feel tired or fatigued at all. One of the side effects of the successor's mutation was to greatly strengthen the power of the mutant part.

For example, if the hand is mutated, "weakness", "strength enhancement", and "soil control" will enhance the ability; if the leg is mutated, "speed" will enhance the ability.

Now, Todd carried Rachel on his back, and then dragged Aisha with his mutated right arm. For him, this kind of intensity of exercise, coupled with the ability of "pain suppression", would not be too much of a burden even for a two-hour long journey.

Different from the one-map flat river feeling on the Yuexi Plain, most of the northern lands are mountains and woodlands. Although the scenery is beautiful, the road is difficult and dangerous.

The three of them marched for a whole morning before they climbed the first hill.

Under the sun, Todd turned the water bag upside down and aimed it at his mouth, and shook it vigorously, but not a drop of water fell.

Wiping the sweat off his forehead, Todd put down the water bag, looked at the impenetrable woods around him, and sighed.

Aisha, who was sitting on the mop bed, raised her arms and said to him suddenly: "Go in that direction, I can hear the sound of water."

Seeing the dubious look in the other party's eyes, Aisha raised her head and said, "As a captain, it is my most basic instinct to distinguish the sound of currents and storms on the sea."

Todd shrugged his shoulders, with the feeling of treating a dead horse like a living horse doctor, and continued to walk forward for half an hour in the direction pointed by Aisha, when a small natural waterfall appeared in front of his eyes.

"Haha, there is really water!" Todd laughed and took off the water bag, and rushed to the pool under the waterfall. Just as he was about to fetch water, an arrow accurately brushed past his ear.

Almost subconsciously, Todd dropped the water bag, used the "metal skin" ability, and raised his mutated right arm to protect his face.

A deep voice sounded, speaking not a common language, but a language Todd had never heard before.

Immediately afterwards, a second arrow came, this time plunging into the ground at Todd's feet.

The voice became louder again, and anyone could hear the hostility and expulsion inside.

Just when Todd was in a dilemma, Rachel walked to the edge of the pool with her shaky body supported, and said the same language aloud.

Todd stood up and stood in front of Rachel, but found that the confident woman refused his protection.

The owner of the thick voice asked, and Rachel replied, this strange "conversation" lasted for more than five minutes. The former's voice gradually softened, and the original tone of anger gradually changed to questioning.

Eventually, Rachel and the Man of the Woods seemed to come to an agreement.

A clumsy twine was thrown from the woods.

Rachel lowered her volume: "Your Majesty, I may have to wrong you for a while."

Todd blinked in bewilderment.

"In order to win the other party's trust, I will have to tie you up with this hemp rope."

Todd was taken aback for a moment, then smiled and held out his hand.

Ten minutes later, Todd, who was tied up firmly, stood by the pool, receiving the baptism of sight from a group of people who looked like they came from the barbaric era.

The leader was a barbarian elder with white beard and hair but bulging muscles. All he had on his body was a fur robe of unknown material, whether it was bear fur or wolf fur, and he was carrying an oak hunting bow.

He walked around Todd, back and forth a few times, and finally his eyes fell on the mutated right arm.

Rachel asked a few barbaric words, and Rachel answered quickly.

The barbarian elder shook his head vigorously.

Rachel looked a little anxious, and a name began to appear repeatedly in her words—"Boyle".

When the elder heard the name, the resolute expression on his face was shaken, and his original rejection attitude eased.

The two discussed for a while, and the barbarian elder reluctantly nodded.

"Follow them, they promised to provide the necessary food, water and shelter." Rachel winked at Todd: "The most important thing is that they promised to help find my connector."

Feeling a spear pressed against his back, Todd glanced at the guarded barbarians beside him, and asked Rachel in a low voice, "Are you sure? What can we do if they suddenly change their mind?"

Rachel found a long branch as a crutch, struggled to keep up with the barbarian team, and replied: "Keep smiling, and... pray."

The crowd traveled six kilometers southward, and walked into a dense broad-leaved forest highland, where dozens of wooden houses were built here and there.

Todd looked around at this highland where the barbarians camped. It was blocked by mountains on three sides, and there was only a pass in the north for entry. From a strategic point of view, it was easy to defend but difficult to attack.

He also carefully checked the defense force of the camp. There were no more than a hundred adult men, and women, children, and the elderly accounted for more than half of the total population, but everyone carried weapons with them, and it seemed that they could join the battle at any time. In terms of facilities, small arrow towers, wooden repelling horses, and hidden traps, although simple, but the location and angle of the setting are enough to cause headaches for the enemy.

The surrounding barbarian residents gradually gathered around, and the focus of discussion was on Todd's right arm. Occasionally, one or two low growls of fear could be heard.

Faced with the crowd's "enthusiastic" onlookers, the helpless Todd simply looked at the ground, feeling out of sight and out of mind.

To his surprise, the soil under his feet was actually red soil, which was different from the black soil or brown soil in high-latitude areas. Presumably, it had something to do with the basin terrain and highland terrain of the camp.

Todd and his party were finally brought into a big house that looked like the center of the village.

The barbarian elder with a hunting bow pointed at Rachel and said something to an elderly woman wearing a bone necklace and another tall and strong young man.

Then the three barbarians debated for a long time, and finally reached an agreement with difficulty.

Rachel looked, visibly relieved, and whispered to Todd, "They agreed to give us three days."
