Accident Prone

Chapter 502 - Perfect Presents (3)

The next morning…

The group of partiers from the superyacht arrived at the wedding venue with two limousines.

The venue for this wedding: the Anderson family's villa!

Madeline got her wish, to host a wedding here. It was not a big wedding in terms of guests because Max and Liz wanted to keep it for friends and family, and the most important business partners. Everyone else can find out about the wedding from a magazine.

The press is not allowed to come in. Zack is the official photographer, and Liz and Max will decide on the photos and information that can be published in magazines owned by Reynolds Media. This will make Quentin's and Brianna's magazines super-popular as they will have exclusive access to one of the most important weddings in the country where two rich and powerful individuals will join their hands in marriage, creating a bridge between two empires: the Alpha Group and the Williams Medical corp.

The number of invitations sent was just below two hundred, and they arranged for anyone who flew to the wedding to stay in hotels across Seattle.

The small number of people didn't mean that the wedding was small because everything was exquisite and luxurious. The price tag on Max's and Liz's wedding was significantly higher than the one on Hunter's and Mia's wedding which had more than twice invitations sent.

Madeline welcomed the newlyweds and their party. "The brunch is served for all of you to fuel up before we start with stylings for the occasion. Once you are done with food, Foxy will direct you to the rooms for styling…" After instructing the newcomers where to go, Madeline held Liz and Max back. "Isaac and Nathan want to talk to you. They are in the study on the first floor."

Liz and Max entered the study and found Isaac and Nathan on the sofa. They were chatting and holding onto a folder each.

"Did you have fun at the party?", Isaac asked while giving Liz a big hug.

"Yes, it was wonderful. I can't thank enough everyone.", Liz responded with a big smile.

Nathan chuckled. "As long as you two are happy, everyone else will be happy. You have no idea how relieved I am that this rascal is settling down. I know that you will keep him in check.", he said to Liz with a knowing look.

"What are you saying?", Max grumbled while pulling Liz into his hug, like that will prevent Liz from hearing more damaging things about him. "Are you planning to scare Liz away? If mom is here, she would give you a scolding."

"Hehe… but she is not here.", Nathan said smugly. "And besides, I didn't lie."

"OK. OK.", Isaac interjected. "We don't have much time. Kids will need to eat something before they start getting ready for the grand event."

Isaac gestured for Liz and Max to sit on the sofa, and Isaac and Nathan took seats on the sofa chairs, facing the couple with the coffee table separating them.

"We called you here to give you our presents.", Isaac said.

"We hope that these will be things you will use and find useful in your lives together.", Nathan added. It was obvious that they practiced this. "I will start, as this is not a complete surprise at least for one of you."

Nathan placed the folder on the coffee table and pushed it toward Max and Liz. "This is from me and Madeline."

Max smiled and gestured to Liz to open it. She understood that Max knew about this beforehand.

Liz opened the folder and saw a property deed. It was for a plot in Seattle and Liz looked at Max questionably. There was an address, but Liz didn't recognize it, so she expected Max to explain.

"It's my grandmother's house.", Max said.

Liz's eyes flashed in realization… "The one with the cherry tree?"

"Mhm…", Max hummed in confirmation. "It's ours."

"Oh…", a sound escaped Liz's lips and it took her a few seconds to find her words. She remembered the cozy house that is surrounded by a massive garden, and it has an oasis on top. She imagined herself and Max sitting under that cherry tree as it will bloom year after year.

"Thank you. That house is wonderful. We will definitely use it."

Nathan grinned, pleased with Liz's answer, and he added: "When you return from your honeymoon, Rina will talk to you about remodeling it to fit your style."

"That is so sweet of Rina…", Liz's eyes were getting teary.

Isaac cleared his throat, indicating that it's his turn.

"This is on your name, my angel…", Isaac said to Liz while placing the folder from his hand on the table. "But I believe Max will realize that it's a present for him as well."

Liz opened the folder and her eyes widened. "What is this?"

Max looked at the document and a big smile bloomed on his face before he answered Liz's question: "You are a majority owner and the chairman, or should I say the chairwoman, of the Franciscan Medical Center."

Max nodded gratefully toward Isaac. "Thank you."

Max understood that this is Isaac's blessing for Liz to stay in Seattle. With Max.

Liz and Max didn't discuss the logistics of Seattle vs New York, because at this point that was still not a pressing issue, but Max knew that it will be something they will need to figure out eventually.

Liz's eyes moved from Max to Isaac, Nathan, and then back to Max again. "What does this mean? What about chairman Lee?" She heard Max clearly, but she needed more details.

Isaac responded. "You own 59% of the Franciscan Medical Center. Chairman Lee is your employee, and it will be up to you if you want to keep him and in what role. Since you are the majority owner, you don't need anyone's vote to decide on the faith of the hospital or its employees. Also, you are free to schedule your work hours, and no one can say a thing. When you return from the honeymoon, I will present you with a proposal for the Franciscan Medical Center to become part of Williams Medical corp. I believe that Max can help us come up with a deal that will be beneficial for everyone long term. You can work from Seattle and…"

Isaac stopped talking when he saw Liz's chin shaking.

"Thank you, daddy…"

Liz was overwhelmed, and she remembered her interns who were still waiting for chairman Lee to approve their full-time positions. Now Liz can do it and they won't fear for their jobs as their internship contracts are about to expire soon.

"And just to add…", Nathan said and pulled another document that was hidden under the property deed of the house that was in the first folder. "Max owns 8% of the Franciscan Medical Center, so together the two of you have 67%."

Nathan shifted in his chair and glanced at Max guiltily. "I would buy you more, but other shareholders were not willing to sell on such short notice, so…"

"It's fine, dad.", Max interrupted Nathan. "This is more than fine."

Max had no objections. Now Max and Liz owned two-thirds of the Franciscan Medical Center which was wonderful. Not because of the monetary value, but because Liz will stay in Seattle with Max, long term. Also, Max knew that if Franciscan Medical Center becomes part of the Williams Medical corp., Liz can inherit Isaac's position and work from Seattle by moving only the main office here. It will all work out wonderfully.

Max closed both folders and pushed them toward Nathan. "Can you safe-keep this for us until we are back from our honeymoon?"

Nathan nodded and took the folders.

"Alright, we will let you go by your own business…", Isaac said and pulled Nathan to stand up.

Nathan kept two folders in the top drawer of his executive desk, and he and Isaac walked out, leaving Max and Liz on the sofa.

"Do you like the presents?", Max asked Liz.

Liz smiled dreamily. "Presents are perfect. You are perfect. Everything is perfect."

Max chuckled and hugged Liz. "You are perfect, my love… and everything else is just reflecting it."

Liz's smile widened. "You are a sweet talker."

Max inched closer. "Your sweet talker."

"Mine. I will take you."

"Don't let go, love.", Max spoke against her lips.

"Never…", Liz whispered a moment before their lips connected in a long sensual kiss that made them both wish for more, yet they were aware how they are running out of time.

Max would usually ignore any people and functions, but this was special. This was the day where Liz will become his wife, and he didn't want to risk delaying it. Everything else could wait, other than them becoming one in the eyes of the law.
