A Legendary Thief

Chapter 21:A Professional Player

Xiao Yu would have enough money to improve his evisceration and backstabbing skills if he could sell it for eight gold coins, which was already the price he had set in his mind. However, Xiao Yu didn't want to miss such a good opportunity to make some more money. Now that this team was fairly interested in his armor, they would definitely be able to pay more than eight gold coins.

"I'd like to remind you that this is armor for soldiers; I have no need to emphasize how important it is to them. Do you truly think eight gold coins are enough for it?" Xiao Yu asked lightly while sweeping his gaze over the five players. He found a hint of embarrassment on all of their faces.

Armors and shields for soldiers were the most expensive items among all the equipment, especially if they were high-level defense items. Those were usually much pricier than the regular ones simply because soldiers held a tremendously important position in the party. As long as the soldiers could keep the monster leaders or bosses at bay, a party of five players could easily find many high-quality items.

"Ten gold coins. That is the most we can afford. Gold coins are also very important, aren't they?" An Yu, the soldier, offered while staring at Xiao Yu.

An Yu was not stupid. He realized that Xiao Yu could simply go to the bigger cities later to sell the item at an auction house, and he might be able to sell it for a much better price there. Xiao Yu had no need to spend so much time hawking his wares here in this small town.

Gold coins were indeed very important to Xiao Yu at the moment. As Thief Teacher Ode said, his future progress would be affected if he failed to improve his skills in time.

Xiao Yu faced An Yu's stare confidently, saying with a faint smile, "Twelve gold coins. If you don't want it at this price, I have to sell it at an auction house in a big city."

An Yu was a bit confused when he saw Xiao Yu's countenance, wondering if Xiao Yu was actually not anxious to sell the item. Twelve gold coins were indeed a bit pricy for this item; Xiao Yu couldn't sell at such a high price in the small town of Tabarka because few players in Tabarka could afford it. An Yu hesitated. He didn't want to give up on the item because his team would be able to challenge higher-level monsters if he obtained it, and they could earn more gold coins after spending them this time.

"Alright, you've got a deal," said An Yu between his teeth. The twelve gold coins were the party's winnings for that day.

The price was much higher than Xiao Yu had expected. He thought that he would sell it for seven gold coins if nobody was willing to pay such a high price. This was because he would be able to improve his evisceration and backstabbing skills with the seven gold coins plus the three gold coins he already had in his hands.

"It's a pleasure doing business with you," said Xiao Yu with a small smile. The deal was completed.

"Let's add each other as friends. You can contact us when you have the items we need later," said An Yu while reaching out his hand.

"Okay." Xiao Yu extended his hand to shake An Yu's and added An Yu as a friend.

"Are you from the Mother Star? All the players born around the small town of Tabarka are from the Mother Star," An Yu asked Xiao Yu.

Xiao Yu couldn't help but feel a bit cautious, but again, he knew that the Mother Star was huge. He shouldn't fear that An Yu would go looking for him. Moreover, An Yu had already guessed it. "Yes," Xiao Yu answered honestly.

"Are you a regular or a professional player?" An Yu asked after nodding his head.

Players of higher levels were usually professional ones; they were more proficient in using skills and had higher levels than regular players as a result.

An Yu guessed Xiao Yu might be a professional player because he had reached such a high level by playing on his own.

Xiao Yu couldn't help but feel somewhat troubled by An Yu's persistent questions.

It seemed that An Yu had noticed the impatience on Xiao Yu's face, so he explained with a smile, "I know I've asked you too many questions, but my teammates and I are all amateur players. Many professional players often sell higher-level items on this server, and we are unwilling to buy them with gold coins. As such, we prefer to buy some of them with Chinese yuan. If you're a professional player, we'd better get in touch more often."

It turned out that they were a bunch of rich players. These amateur players were quite willing to part with their money in the game, and they would be Xiao Yu's important customers in the future. He would not have to worry about selling his items now that he had a steady customer base.

"I'm a professional player," replied Xiao Yu, but he felt a bit hot in his face. He was not even sure if he would become a professional player since he hadn't made a single yuan yet.

"Excellent. You can contact us when you have any high-level items for sale. We can always discuss the price," said An Yu excitedly.

There were many professional players in the game, but they often had their own customer base, so the items usually exchanged hands internally. Those professional players believed they could only trust the customers they knew, and so amateur players like An Yu and his team had a hard time finding professional players who were willing to sell high-level items to them. Even though they had enough money for them, it was still challenging to find a willing seller. It was fortunate that they could run into someone like Xiao Yu, who appeared to be a professional player with outstanding skills.

As a professional player, they wouldn't sell their items for Chinese yuan in the beginning until they had reached a much higher level. An Yu didn't expect Xiao Yu to sell the items for Chinese yuan at the moment, so he decided that they should simply keep in touch for now.

Judging by the temperament of these five players, they had to be the kind of people who led comfortable lives in the real world and who played the game just for the fun of it. Obtaining a customer base was nevertheless the first step on Xiao Yu's journey to becoming a professional player. He set up a special group within his friend list for those customers who were willing to pay money for his items. And just like that, Xiao Yu had successfully earned a customer base.

Having sold the item, Xiao Yu finally had enough money to go and upgrade his skills. He closed the stall and bade farewell to An Yu and the others before heading to where Thief Teacher Ode was.

"Boss, his skills seem to be quite good," the dark wizard commented while gazing at Xiao Yu's back.

"This guy is indeed formidable. The five of us are lucky enough to get three green-level items of equipment in one day, but this guy got three green-level items all by himself. Do you think he actually killed a monster leader by himself?" wondered An Yu, his tone full of admiration.
